  1. The decision by Truss does sound sensible, but one should still be wary of this untested PM, who will perhaps prove as disappointing as BoJo. The issue of energy in Europe is one which will become increasingly urgent very soon indeed (in the words of GoT, “winter is coming”), and there exists a strong likelihood of massive discontent across the continent and in the British Isles, from the left and from the right, as the cost of heating becomes absurdly expensive for most ordinary citizens, while the elites, of course, will continue to live comfortably and well. It is also highly likely that Trump will be indicted (on spurious grounds), and the resulting anger will be widespread and impassioned.

  2. “It is also highly likely that Trump will be indicted (on spurious grounds), and the resulting anger will be widespread and impassioned.”

Which is exactly what they want to happen. Timing is going to be important. I predict around October 20. Not too far out from the election, and enough time for the reaction from the right, yet just in time to declare martial law to “save the country from the destructive MAGA people”, and then “postpone” all elections.

  3. Hold on now, I remember reading that in 2020 OMB was going to declare martial law and suspend elections. But all that actually happened was a one day insurrection that was the existential threat to “our democracy.”TM (sarc)

It was a good thing the General Mark Milley had control of the nuclear codes; OMB might have nuked the Capitol. (sarc)

  4. Can’t read twitter posts, my account is locked for posting that Europeans deserved to starve in the cold and dark for their policies.

  5. the first concerned shambling’s category error about concrete,

the second was a primal scream in prose from the NY Times’ Tom Edsall,

  6. I remember Ricardo Montalban’s “perdition’s flame” speech in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. It was an adaptation of Ahab ranting about Moby Dick. So you can think of Trump and Biden as Moby and Ahab and I’ll think of them as Kirk and Khan. But Biden doesn’t quite have the visceral passion and devouring obsession. No sooner does he speak than he’s shuffling off for his ice cream. Maybe Adam Schiff or Eric Swalwell or Rick Wilson or Joe Scarborough or Maxine Waters fits the obsessional pattern more closely, and of course, Jerry Nadler manages to be both Ahab and the whale.

Big cities are big on nullification. First the nullify our national laws by becoming sanctuary cities. Now they are trying to opt out of the consequences of the essentially an open borders policy which they support. This is also a classic case of NIMBYism. The classic example of taking “moral” stands when you don’t have to pay the consequences (and don’t examine the morality of what you are doing too closely either).

  7. 1)“Truss said. “We will end the moratorium on extracting our huge reserves of shale that could get gas flowing in as soon as six months,”

Given that it’s too little, too late… it’s an attempt to pour oil upon troubled waters…

    2) “Steve Bannon broke news that at least 35 Raids were conducted yesterday against Trump allies across the country.”
    https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/steve-bannon-breaking-at-least-35-trump-allies-had-homes-raided-by-fbi/

    3) An elegant application of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals #4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”

    4) Biden’s Nuremberg rally speech undoutedly opened some independent and even liberal eyes.

    5) Given that Manchin has his Senate seat till Jan. 2025, I wonder if, with nothing to lose, he’ll show some vindictiveness toward West Virginia voters?

  8. physicsguy,

Fomenting widespread rioting from the right as a ploy for justification for imposing nationwide martial law is at best chancy. It’s a bet that the military’s troops will back them. It’s a bet they can win a civil war. They may just be stupid enough to make that bet.

  9. Zara:

Yes, Vlad is having some unexpected developments in the Kharkiv region and still has 20K troops essentially isolated in the south Kerson front. But those views are all Ukrainian propaganda (sarc). How it will sort out is too early to tell, Won’t know for at least 13 minutes. Fog of war and all that.

    Just one example.

    Or a Ukrainian perspective

Who is winning? It ain’t over till it’s over.

  10. Regarding 3:
It’s about votes. If immigrants enter and stay in red states they could turn them blue. Sending them to states already blue doesn’t help in the electoral college or in senate races.

  11. om:

Thanks so much for the links! And happy weekend to you too 🙂

I have a lot of subscriptions to Ukrainians on Twitter. They are highly motivated to protect their families and their lands, and therefore they will definitely win. Russian army consists of paid mercenaries on outdated tanks, led by poorly educated generals. Mad Putin cannot win, it would be the collapse of the world order..

I saw a lot of videos on Twitter from the liberated territories, it’s really impressive. Ukrainians are Heroes! Soon, i hope very soon the invaders will be expelled, with huge help from the West, of course 🙂

  12. Bannon’s report has been confirmed and elucidated by Harmeet Dhillon on Tucker Carlson.
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/09/breaking-update-50-trump-supporters-homes-raided-doj-fbi-across-us-video/

On Friday night attorney Harmeet Dhillon went on with Tucker Carlson to discuss the mass FBI raids on Trump supporters.

Harmeet told Tucker that up to 50 Trump supporters had their homes raided or received

At least one liberal reporter was tipped off to the FBI raids before they took place.

Harmeet Dhillon: The subpoenas are intentionally broad. They’re from the “Capitol Siege Section” of the United States Department of Justice DC Office. And they ask for broad categories of documents. They ask for all communications dated from a month before the election until two months after the election. And they ask for all communications regarding dozens of people. And the categories are alternate electors, fundraising around irregularities around the election, and also a rally that happened before the January 6 situation at the Capitol. The Save America Rally that happened. Basically, all of this activity if not all of it is protected by the First Amendment. And the United States Department of Justice is telling reporters about the search warrants and subpoenas before they’re executed… This is really outrageous abuse by the DOJ.

All conservative media need to substitute “leftist” for “liberal” when speaking of the Democrats and their media.

  13. RedState has more on the new raids. The number and names are not specified so far, but Dhillon says some of her clients have been subpoenaed.

    https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/09/09/bombshell-report-dozens-of-trump-allies-raided-or-served-subpoenas-by-fbi-n625209

Dhillon appeared with Tucker Carlson. She said that there had been a reporter reaching out asking if search warrants or subpoenas had been served on some 50 people. Dhillon confirmed to Tucker Carlson that search warrants or subpoenas had been served on three clients of hers — one of whom had their phone seized. The federal grand jury subpoenas were broad asking for any communications from October 2020, a month before the election to two months after the election. The subpoenas sought communications related to certification, fraud in the election, alternate electors, anything related to the rally before the Jan. 6 riot, and any communications related to the Save America PAC.

Here’s part of what was in one of the subpoenas which has had the name redacted.

This is an incredible escalation by the Biden Administration and it’s going to be hard to justify that this isn’t an effort to go after and shut down political opponents. This would be incredibly out of control and something on a par with Stalinist regimes trying to stifle any challenge to their power. As Dhillon noted, this raises all kinds of First Amendment questions. She also noted how improper this is that the DOJ is telling reporters about these search warrants and subpoenas even before they are executed. She said she thought this was to instill fear into people right before an upcoming election so they wouldn’t challenge anything. She called it abuse by the DOJ and said it was illegal of them to leak this information.

“This will wreck the country,” Tucker said. That’s about the size of it if Republicans let this go without calling out the abuse.

  14. Two thoughts;

“She said she thought this was to instill fear into people right before an upcoming election so they wouldn’t challenge anything.”

It is going to increase the number of votes for Republicans.

“This will wreck the country,” Tucker said. That’s about the size of it if Republicans let this go without calling out the abuse.

The GOPe is delighted that their democrat allies might succeed in pushing Trump out of the political arena.

  15. I think Andrew McCarthy had it right the day of (or immediately after) the raid. “Classified documents” is a red herring. So are all the claims about Russiagate docs in Trump’s possession though that could be an attempt by Trump’s team to brush back the FBI/DOJ with a bluff or because they don’t know exactly what is cooking there, either. I suspect the Feds are going after anything they can construe as J6 planning or coordination, and if they can’t get that they’ll charge Trump with obstructing the J6 investigations.

  16. Biden’s granddaughter is getting married on the White House lawn this fall.

Maybe Dark Brandon will invite the Republicans as a unity gesture, and then go all Game of Thrones Red Wedding on them.

  17. }}} DC Council Member @BrianneKNadeau blamed the governors of Texas and Arizona for creating this “crisis” and said they turned DC into a border town.

Awwww… so now you’re actually FEELING the problems caused by your supported legislative & executive policies of ignoring the borders?

Imagine the largest number you know. Now multiply it by itself. And then divide it into one.

NOW you have a metric approaching the arena of how much I give a damn about your becoming a “border town”, Ms. Nadeau.

  18. ohbloodyhell:

“Sorry about that, Chief. Missed it by that much.”

copy and paste in haste leads to waste

Thank you for fixing the link!

  19. how did blossom (mayim bialik)get on the city council, I would say they are clueless but they are clearly evil,

  20. Given what Brandon said a about 9/11/2001 most recently; i.e. “islamophobia” and root causes; dropping the death penaltyos especially despicable (typical Brandon junta).

  21. So people who recruited trained and planned the deaths of 3,000 americans dont get the death penalty so whos the real enemy?

  22. From Rasmussen today (https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/biden_administration/voters_divided_over_biden_s_philadelphia_speech):

In his September 1 speech, Biden said: “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. voters agree with that quote, including 36% who Strongly Agree. Forty-seven percent (47%) disagree with Biden’s slam on “MAGA Republicans,” including 39% who Strongly Disagree.

I think that that means that every single person who voted for Biden in 2020 thinks that every one of us is the “enemy” (as in an enemy such as 1941-45’s Germany and Japan).
