The Biden administration is the bully threatening to take kids’ lunch money — 8 Comments

  1. There is always a price for “free”. Highway money, rent subsidies, park support. There is always something that will set the hook.

  2. “Accepting federal funds is accepting federal control through federal threats to withhold those funds.”

And now the American semiconductor industry has eagerly signed up for the same experience. From today’s WSJ:

“Money from Washington always comes with strings attached, and we hope the semiconductor CEOs know what they’ve signed up for. That message couldn’t have been clearer from President Biden on Tuesday when he told business and labor leaders on a conference call that the bill’s $52 billion in grants for Intel and other chip makers would not be “a blank check to companies.” The President said he will “personally have to sign off on the biggest grants.”

Uh-huh…and what do you think Biden’s criteria for such sign-off might be?…a deep analysis of which projects offer the greatest economic & resilience benefits to the US economy? Does Biden know the difference between analog, digital, and mixed-signal chips, or what kinds of products might need a 5nm chip or better, or what an FPGA is?…Does anyone in his cabinet have the interest and ability to understand what the best strategic investments would be?

Decision criteria will be largely political, I feel sure, ranging from what geographical areas are most important from an election POV to which companies are most synced up with the most approved forms of Wokeness.

  3. 1. The federal government should not be subsidizing anyone’s meals, bar those whose fare is consumed in chow halls owned and operated by units of the federal government. That would be those living on military bases and those in federal prisons and the like.

    2. The federal government should be financing the primary and secondary schooling (or some portion thereof) of a share of the youth population which bounces around a set point of about 3% of the total (contingent, largely, on the number of military dependents). And no one else.

  4. There is always a price for “free”. Highway money, rent subsidies, park support. There is always something that will set the hook.

Special purpose grants to state and territorial government at this point in time should consist of funds for disaster relief, unemployment compensation, Medicaid, and a residue of the federal highway program. The residue would consist of signage for the Interstate and US Route system and funds for the maintenance and amortization of long-haul Interstates, derived from tolls to be introduced on those roadways and distributed to the states per acres of macadam in each.

Special purpose grants to local government should consist of disaster relief and indemnities for capital expenditures made necessary by federal regulatory decisions.

Unrestricted transfers to state and territorial government should consist of a cash grant distributed according to formula and amounting to perhaps 2% of gross domestic product so long as Medicaid continues as is. Affluent jurisdictions like Connecticut, New Jersey, and DC would receive nothing; impecunious states like Mississippi would receive a share higher than their share of the population.

Unrestricted transfers from the federal government to local government would consist of payment in lieu of taxes on federal property. State governments would ideally provide foundational grants according to formula to school districts and county governments, and county governments would provide them to municipal governments.

  5. Bullying is the Democratic Party’s M.O.
It is certainly NOT restricted to kids’ school lunches—even if that’s a very good way to get even with all those parents concerned about the dangerous, perverse crap the Democratic-Party supported teachers’ union is ramming through the public school curriculum…to show them WHO’S THE BOSS.
One sees their non-stop bullying running riot in the January 6 Commission (so-called).
One sees it in the military, in the Covid regulations, on the border, in the economy, in crime, in drugs…lying, intimidation, threats and bullying, wash, rinse and repeat.
Here’s how it’s playing out WRT SCOTUS:
‘ “Rebalance The Bench”: Turley Opines On Democrat Push For ‘Sweeping’ Supreme Court Changes’ (Turley)—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/rebalance-bench-turley-opines-democrat-push-sweeping-supreme-court-changes
‘…From Congress to the press to academia, the very foundation of the Court is being challenged. What is notable is that these are also the voices of some of the most powerful figures in our society. Rather than seek to moderate the mob, they are fueling the rage with such reckless rhetoric. There are good-faith objections to this decision but those objections challenge the legitimacy of the holding, not the institution itself. As Benjamin Franklin noted “The U. S. Constitution doesn’t guarantee happiness, only the pursuit of it. You have to catch up with it yourself.” ‘ [Emphasis mine; Barry M.]

In fact, “the pursuit of happiness” is the MOST RADICAL, the MOST REVOLUTIONARY, the MOST HUMANE, the MOST SPIRITUAL of doctrines.
And it is no wonder that authoritarian and totalitarian systems of power, with which the “Biden” Democrats, in their wisdom, have decided to throw in their lot, make it a point to THEMSELVES DECIDE what constitutes such happiness—for everyone—and then work non-stop so that everyone under their sordid thumb complies.

Speaking of BULLYING, Il Fauci is
“preparing” us for the mega-limitations to come, courtesy of “Biden”‘s (i.e., WTF’s) “Climate Emergency”:
“Fauci, Birx, & The Small-Print That Destroyed America”—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/fauci-birx-small-print-destroyed-america
    AKA…THOSE LIES KEEP ACOMIN’
    Key grafs:
“…In this interview, several messages stands out: 1) in retrospect, we should have locked down even more, 2) he never pushed lockdowns; he was only passing on CDC guidance, and 3) he is utterly and completely blameless for all things, particularly in funding gain-of-function research which, in any case, is not responsible for the creation of the virus in Wuhan.
“The first part is startling because many of us have had the sense that lockdowns are in disrepute. Far from it: Fauci’s message is that next time, the lockdowns will be harder and longer. And there certainly will be more….
“What intrigues me the most is the second part, the claim that he never ordered lockdowns. This was the CDC and he only served as messenger. Everyone else is to blame for anything that went wrong….”

The man’s a maniac, which is why he’s the perfect “Biden” tool.
OTOH, Birx’s latest revelations should be read again and again.

  6. }}} This is another example of the executive branch of the administration trying to use agencies in order to to exceed its power and control states through that power.

    This is nothing new.

The only reason the drinking age in Louisiana is 21, and not 18, is that they threatened to withhold federal highway funding.

They SHOULD have fought it way back then.

Up Next: CRT connected to funding.

  7. }}} That would be those living on military bases and those in federal prisons and the like.

Or school lunchrooms, which are actually state prisons. 😛
