Steve needs to stop watching the Angels for a moment and root for the Cubs again: they’re currently fourth in the NL Central and could use a chorus or two of “Go, Cubs, Go!”:
PA+cat— Sadly he in not watching anyone, except in a spiritual sense. Leukemia took him in 1984. 🙁
Another Mike–
I know that. Steve himself wrote the line about “I’ve got season tickets to watch the Angels now” in his “A Dying Cub’s Fan’s Last Request.” I thought the echo of his song would be obvious.
Neo, you introduced Steve Goodman to me in an earlier post. And, THANKS.
Why, G-d, is Steve Goodman gone and soooooo many bad folk intending bad things still with us????
Hi. So happens I just lately used a bit of this song of Steve’s in a farewell video tribute to Psaki. Shady all the time…

@PA+Cat–
Being a long way from Chi Town, I am woefully lacking in knowledge of the Cubbies current situation. You’re saying that they are back to their old ways?
Another Mike–
Sad to say, the Cubbies are at .418, 9.5 games behind the division leader (the Brew Crew). As a Phillies fan, I heartily sympathize. I remember that before the Red Sox broke their so-called curse in 2004, the NY Times Sunday Magazine ran a humorous one-page essay early that summer about the long-suffering Boston fans– I remember it because it included the remark that the only people who really understand the mindset of Red Sox Nation are Cubs fans and Phillies fans.
Steve Goodman . . . thanks.

Steve Goodman, of Arlo Guthrie fame… Lovely voice.
Steve Goodman, big time Chicago Cubs fan …
You like different music, thought this interesting. Old style a cappella ballad.
