WTIC is back below $92/barrel and Brent is back under a hundred at $98/barrel which isn’t that far out of the range it has been in the last month or so.
The lack of sanctions on Russian oil/energy interests probably blunted a rise for now anyway. Whether that is a good move or not is debatable but that is what happened.
World markets had big time turnarounds the last couple of days.
The real problem is when Biden destroyed the US oil production, it drove up the price and benefitted Russia. That gave Putin some extra cash for his games. I can’t believe how destructive this administration is. But, hey, no mean tweets or braggdacio.
I heard somebody claim that Putin needs oil to be $60/barrel just to fund his government and having it well above that gives him lots of extra cash for military adventures like we are currently seeing.
They have really boxed themselves in on this one because the one price everybody knows is a gallon of gas and if that goes up even more that would be very bad for the Democrats.
Just ridiculously bad policy decisions.
graduating 76/85 from a first tiered law school like Chicago or Stanford isn’t embarrasing
graduating 76/85 from a second tiered law school like Cardozo or GW is a little embarrassing but not too shameful.
graduating 76/85 from a third tiered law school like Seton Hall or Albany is very embarrassing and a little shameful
graduating 76/85 from a fourth tiered law school like Syracuse is shameful and very embarrassing
graduating 76/85 from a fourth tiered law school like Syracuse even after cheating is shameful and very embarrassing and reflection of a low prole low IQ background
Imagine what Brandon got on his LSATs
Marc Andreessen, the entrepreneur and venture capitalist, had a suggestion at his twitter feed:
“Build 1,000 new state of the art nuclear power plants in the US and Europe, right now. We won’t, but we should.”
Numerous comments by people on the thread assert that *solar* would be faster and cheaper, and some even link supposedly-authoritative sources to make their case.
Storage, of course, is not seriously considered in these comments. It seems very difficult for most people to grasp that a kwh generated during a bright August afternoon is not the same commodity as a kwh require during a snowy February night.
Not to worry Brandon and the Junta are ignoring a Federal judge’s ruling regarding the halting of oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico. Judge said it was not legal to halt the sales.
Being able to blame any increased inflation in the U.S. (highest in 40 years and still rising) on Putin through a coordinated media campaign is, other than electoral fraud, the only hope the democrats have to avoid the coming electoral tsunami they face in November.
Surely that could not be the Biden administration’s reason for their refusal over the past few weeks to call Putin’s bluff… namely that the US led NATO putting in writing that it would not allow further eastward expansion. Putin’s primary condition seconded by the removal of offensive weapons systems from Poland, etc.
Since Putin must be lying about his expressed conditions, why not call him on it? If he renegs, what have we lost? His reneging on what he says he wants would eliminate them from any further consideration. Putin would then be the one tearing up NATO’s offer to stop expanding eastward.
So Vlad gets to tell Poland what weapons they can or can’t have.
He’s got you the short hairs.
Is he hiding under your bed when you fall asleep, or does he let you sleep? Vlad might be threatened by a well rested Geoffrey.

Here is a link that will help you understand the nature of the European Union’s dependency on Soviet hydrocarbons – oil, natural gas, coal. There’s quite a bit of information here. The information does not reflect the additional gas to be supplied by the new NordStream II pipeline, which is in final stages of commissioning but is not yet in utilization (and is now subject to both German and US sanctions)
And China is stepping up to ‘help’ Russia should they have any problems meeting their ‘commitments’. I’m sure some of Russia’s customers have higher priority than others.
Think gas prices are high now?
Just wait until the Arabs decide to do another 1973-style oil embargo, with the US as the primary target.
Actually, you won’t have to worry about the price of gas because you won’t be able to buy any gas.
Tom:
I could always get gas back then. But the lines were very very long at times…
Our last hope for normal relations with Russia and an alliance against China was Trump, and the Left destroyed it.
“During the Trump presidency, the Left went as far as to make Russophobia a fashionable trend, and it became de rigueur among the woke.”
Maybe.

Edward:
Indeed, the Russiagate hoax perpetrated by the left certainly didn’t help.
Just a reminder (in case we—or “Biden”—forgot):
“…the US is still buying a lot of Russian oil…”
