Oh, so now the CDC tells us
The director of the CDC has made an announcement:
The newly updated CDC guidelines don’t require testing at the end of isolation because PCR tests can stay positive for up to 12 weeks, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told “Good Morning America” Wednesday. “So we would have people in isolation for a very long time if we were relying on PCRs,” Walensky explained.
Wait, what?…
This follows them shortening the isolation period from 10 days to five days for those who were asymptomatic at that point, although they recommended that the people continue to wear masks for five days. Dr. Anthony Fauci revealed that at least part of the reason was economic — because otherwise there could be so many people out society could grind to a halt.
What are we to make of this? What I make of it is that the Democrats have decided their draconian approach to COVID is losing them votes, compliance is getting iffier, and they’re not even doing well in the courts. Time to lighten up.
Are we to understand that they’ve just found out about the false positives with PCR tests? I find that extremely implausible, and they don’t even seem to be asserting it – just that economics dictate the change. They also seem to be implying that because Omicron is so contagious (and probably so relatively mild), it’s just not practical to continue the old rules. But what were those old rules based on? Very little – sort of like the guidelines that had us washing our fruits and vegetables and plastic containers in some sort of soapy bath for a while, or the articles from just a week or so ago that said despite its seeming mildness Omicron would cause a great many people to die.
Not everyone who comes down with COVID right now has Omicron, either, so the new rules don’t make sense for that reason – or rather, they probably make a lot of sense and would have made sense if they’d been implemented a long time ago. But it’s been clear pretty much from the start that politics has ruled the rules. Initially the political goal was to harm Trump, and now it is to help Biden if possible. The problem for the CDC and the administration is that much of the American public doesn’t believe them anymore about much of anything. They have squandered that initial trust.
When it was the stupid people in red states last summer testing positive that was their obvious ignorance in following the rules but now that it’s the super smart people in Georgetown and Manhattan well that’s different.
Hysteria over small ‘O’ Omicron is hardly limited to our beleaguered republic, but encompasses most of the West and much of Asia, especially China, where the draconian measures recently imposed on the unfortunate inhabitants of Xi’an make the most idiotic and the most counter-productive mandates and pronouncements from blue-state governors and blue-city mayors (not to mention the discredited CDC and various untrustworthy “experts” in public health) seem benign in comparison, not that anyone should believe the official numbers from the CCP.
Maybe Democrats have a Magic 8 Ball to make their decisions on Covid.

So all the numbers have been “Lies, Damn Lies”. I long ago dismissed anything coming from “the experts”.
I showed this to my wife, RN and manager of a hospital ward, this morning. Her response, “Oh yeah, we’ve been doing that for months now. We wouldn’t have any nurses if we didn’t allow them to come to work until a negative test. We’ve known that you can still get a positive results months later.” It was really a non-issue with her. Keep in mind, she doesn’t follow the news at all and only deals with the hospital’s policy rules that may be based on CDC guidelines/statements, but it is whatever the hospital decided to do to comply.
For instance, today the hospital once again changed visitation policy to no visitors (there are reasonable exceptions because this is Texas and we are reasonable people). Omicron may be less deadly (which is what they are seeing at her hospital), but it does spread, and they have tons of patients (mostly those who can’t afford medical care and see the hospital as the primary care provider in all the ways that can mean) in the ER that have to be triaged and not all of them will be asymptomatic. Some will require over-night observation with a shrinking supply of empty beds. Anything that can help stop the spread, such as not allowing non-sick visitors to see their sick (but not terminally so) family and friends.
You have to remember that these people are federal bureaucrats. They don’t actually treat anybody sick with covid. Taking treatment advice from them is dumb.

Why would any rational, objective observer expect honesty, clarity and consistency from CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, a participant in mass murder, facilitator of a “massive mental health crisis” in teenagers and the destruction of hundreds of thousands of middle class livelihoods…?
It’s quite fitting that on the day the US sets a record for the most of their beloved ‘cases’ we are seeing such furious back pedaling by so many of these people.
I heard somebody today referred to as a ‘master reader of rooms’ and while these clowns aren’t masters of anything I think they are reading the room and realizing like any grifter that it’s time to head for the door.
Ideological fanaticism does not allow for moderation. That’s why, when prudence would dictate otherwise, they invariably double down on unpopular policies. Should that repeatedly occur between now and November, I wonder if they’ll be so stupid as to engage in even more electoral fraud?

Maybe nothing makes a difference but this has been such a BFD that there have been, as a matter of random chance, positive correlations, negative correlations, no discernible connections when there SHOULD have been SOMETHING.
