One of Cain’s accusers won’t talk — 25 Comments

  1. Looks to me like the accuser figured she could cause trouble by merely mentioning the deal, and then, when the National Restaurant Association surprised her by offering to release her from confidentiality, the gig suddenly was up.

Sure looks slimey at this point.

  2. This is being orchestrated from the oval office.

She had nothing to do with it.

Obama ALWAYS trashes his opponents with shocking exposures — like sealed court documents.

He’s the ONLY one in the race to do this time and time again.

The existence of the pleading is permanently recorded in the Nexus database — and available to subscribers.

Nexus is entirely oriented towards the legal profession. It’s a very expensive database — and immense.

Trolling Nexus is how modern lawsuits proceed.

Insiders knowledge is absolutely NOT required.

  3. My crazy theory that this was all about Cain trying to talk her (or all of them) out of an abortion remains unrefuted!

That’s a skeleton in *her* closet which she might want to keep locked away.

  4. “He confirmed that the alleged harassment occurred in 1999 over a period of “at least a month or two.” There was “more than one incident,” he said.”

Now that the details are fully clarified, from my point of view a more relevant question is whether Mr. Cain’s initial response, which was to blame the Perry camp, was justified or at least understandable. From Bloomberg Businessweek:

“In an interview with Forbes on Wednesday, Cain said he believed a Perry consultant gave information about the allegations to Politico. After denying earlier this week that he knew about any settlements, Cain said he had outlined the allegations of a woman to the consultant, Curt Anderson, when Anderson was helping him on an earlier campaign.

He told his supporters by phone: “We now know and have been able to trace it back to the Perry campaign that stirred this up, in order to discredit me and slow us down.”

Perry’s campaign called that “reckless and false.”

And Anderson told CNN on Thursday that he never had a conversation with Cain about sexual harassment.

“It’s just not true,” Cain said. Asked in an interview whether he believed Cain was lying in his statement to Forbes magazine, Anderson said, “I’m not here to add any more name-calling.”

    The plot thickens…

  5. Hey, this is just a Democrat sponsored shitstorm–by one count 90 articles on it so far just in POLITICO alone.

The corrupt MSM doing what it does best.

  6. P.S. Let me tell you about the male coworker who was put through a year of hell–hearings, reviews, mandatory sexual harassment training and classes i.e. what the Chinese Communists would call “criticism and self-criticism” and struggle sessions,” and almost lost his job, all because a nutty, menopausal coworker shouted that he was sexually assaulting her, when she went into his cubicle to ask him a question and he put his arm around her in a friendly way–as he had quite often put his arm around the shoulders of co-workers of both sexes during the several decades we all worked together–this supposed “sexual assault” taking place in his open cubicle, potentially in view of at least half a dozen or more people.

  7. Bill the Rapist Clinton’s sexual assault on Juanita Broderick: Vast Press Silence.

Herman Cain’s No Evidence thus far of ANYTHING? Non-stop press blather. No end in sight. He’s OFF that pesky DemoReservation & a BLACK Conservative. RUIN HIM!!

  8. It is obvious the whole thing was a lie from the start.

She made a charge, She took money. The money was the reason for the charge. Proof is that she in effect stopped making the charge when she got he money. She prostituted the truth and her own integrity for a fee. It was calculated. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was pimped out by some lawyer.

If there is pay for something – sexual harassment charges settled out of court – you will get more of that something. The easier the payment process is (some standard contracts), the more supply of the product will increase.

As far as I am concerned, the woman is the liar here. Period. She has some proof of something? When a man’s entire life, career, nation is on the line? You have an absolute moral obligation to show it. She so obviously does not; she so obviously is the actual pseudo-criminal here and immoral person here.

There are times when a Scarlett Letter is wrong. There are times when a Scarlett Letter is exactly the right thing to do.

This woman, and all women like her, need the Scarlett Letter treatment. I hope Cain has some way of revealing her name. To hell with the so-called “law”. Break it. He almost has an obligation to do so because this is now something well beyond the few thousands she bilked and played the system for.

  9. No one seems to have mentioned that the money does not seem to be just a settlement for the claim- but a settlement to leave as well. If that is accurate (and I seem to have read that the complainant left after this), I find that very interesting. Usually a claim is settled, the people are perhaps separated, and the person continues working.

  10. I went back to the PJ Media story. Awful.

    I was commenter 294.

You should read the last half of the comments.

PJ Media soon to be like HuffPo.

If you can’t be with perspective you will be without.

  11. The 2 1/2 hour”Lincoln-Douglas” style debate between Cain and Gingrich is tonight from 6 to 8:30 and, apparently, it will be broadcast in full by CNN.

It will be interesting to see what effect, if any, this controversy, may have had of Cain’s mojo.

  12. It is my impression from life-long experience that a good half of women lie as easy as they breath, and a quater of them do not really know difference between reality and their fantasies. In my view, these gender-assotiated traits should be accounted somehow in the law to give men factual equal protection from frivoulos or libelous accusations.

  13. I have read numerous pamphlets from large corporations on what Sexual Harassment is and is not according to the edicts rammed through by the hardcore Femminist of the 70’s and it basically goes something like this:

    ” How many fingers, Winston ? ”
” Four ! Stop it, stop it ! How can you go on ? Four ! Four ! ”
    ” How many fingers, Winston ? ”
    ” Five ! Five ! Five ! ”
” No, Winston, that is no use. You are lying. You still think there are four. How many fingers, please ? ”
” Four ! five ! Four ! Anything you like. Only stop it, stop the pain ! “

  14. Wolla Dalbo:

I think you meant C-SPAN, not CNN, is broadcasting the Cain v. Gingrich debate live. Also, I believe it starts at 8:00pm eastern time.

    http://news.investors.com/Article/590030/201111010854/CSPAN-Herman-Cain-Newt-Gingrich-Lincoln-Douglas-debate-Texas.htm

If I’m not tied up, I’d like to catch at least part of it. It will be great to see candidates debate issues with no moderator and limited time restrictions on their responses.

The current format of limiting responses to 60 seconds is perfect for 18 year old beauty queens trying to win the Miss America pageant, but terrible for fleshing out big ideas about how to solve enormous problems of national import and giving voters an idea about why their view for the direction of the country is the right way to go.

  15. Powerful Brent Bozell column
    http://www.mrc.org/biasalert/2011/20111104015841.aspx

    Excerpt:

On NBC’s Today, guest news anchor Tamron Hall compared the scandal to the 1991 Thomas hearings, misrepresenting what the now-Supreme Court judge was accused of. She suggested Cain has compared “himself to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, whose confirmation was held up by a sexual assault allegation.”

Thomas was not accused of sexual assault. He was accused of harassment. On Wednesday, CBS’s Betty Nguyen made a similarly incorrect statement. Of Herman Cain, she erroneously claimed, “One of two women who accuse Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual assault wants to speak out.”

No one has accused him of sexual assault.

  16. I keep telling my redneck friends we must become Alinskyites, but they gag and just can’t go there. We will be hung, with our decency and good manners intact.

  17. There seems to be some confusion about when CSPAN will be broadcasting the live Cain-Gingrich debate . It is now past 5:30 on the East coast, looking at the various CSPAN channels on my TV, this program has not yet aired, and my online CSPAN schedule says that they will broadcast 1 1/2 hours of debate starting at 10:30 p.m. tonight.

If this debate actually takes place starting at 5:30 P.M. as ads for it state, the good folks at CSPAN are certainly trying to limit the viewing audience by not carrying it live, and by rebroadcasting it so late at night.

  18. Don Carlos @ 3:37 . . .

To be an Alinskyite one has to be an outright liar, fraud, and blackmailer. It would be very hard for a normal decent person to be an Alinskyite.

  19. Funny — I was just thinking today that Obama’s fingerprints were all over this. I mean — with Herman Cain — Obama’s troops (which includes the Main Street Media) would not be able to claim opponents and their supporters were “RACISTS.” Cain’s heritage includes folks who were actually slaves in America — not a Kenyan father and White mother. Cain grew up in the South before the Civil Rights Act. He worked to put himself through college. Herman majored in math and computer science. More importantly, Herman has the business background that our country really needs now with the sorry state of our economy and a national debt that is rapidly approaching $15 trillion. Our national debt was $9 billion when Obama and the Democrat/Socialists took over in 2008 — we should be talking about that every day. We should also be talking about our REAL unemployment rate is closer to 20% than the 9% the media talks about.

  20. I was afraid I was being to cynical, but I saw Mike Mc’s comment and agree with it. I suspect the woman cashed in on her accusation then and decided to go semi-public now for another price. I personally suspect that the accuser is a white woman, which would be another reason not to want herself known. The old stereotype of sexually-aggressive black man hitting on a defensive white woman wouldn’t fly now.
