Parents versus school boards — 48 Comments

  1. Yep, the mama and poppa bears are getting riled about their cubs being abused. See what happened in Loudon. VA last night.

The real question will be whether they make the connection to the Dems in the larger picture or just continue to focus their wrath at the local school board.

  2. The school boards are mostly populated by liberals or tools for the teachers’ unions. That’s certainly the case here in Omaha. Retired teachers are the worst. In Omaha, it is a non-paying job and that excludes lots of people.

The CEO of Omaha Public Schools got a 4% raise and increased auto allowance that put her over $350k. A board member who is a retired lawyer and teacher, thinks the CEO is “a bargain” because OPS is a top 10 employer in NE. Huh?

OPS is failing in every education metric. And OPS was the only school district in NE that didn’t have Fall sports in 2020.

One of the biggest problems in modern America is the failure of public education. When I was a kid, OPS’s flagship high school had a pipeline to the Ivy League. It was every bit as good as my Jesuit high school. Certainly not the case today. The worst of it is that Warren Buffett’s daughter subsidizes the failure of OPS to the tune of millions each year.

  3. It is an evil thing to teach any child that they are worse, or better, than any other child because of the color of their skin. Period.
Have we learned nothing from our history?

  4. Critical Racists’ Theory presumes diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment), inequity, and exclusion (e.g. political congruence or “=”) breeds adversity.

Ironically, predictably, perhaps, where the Nazis brayed Jew privilege, the neo-Nazis bray White privilege.

So, teach “our [unPlanned] Posterity” to forego exercising liberal license to indulge diversity [dogma], then teach the progressive masterworks with left-wing orientations that include CRT, Mein Kampf, Maoism, Marxism, Fascism, Mugabeism, Population Bomb, CAGW, Handmade Tales, and Pro-Choice religions past, present, and progressive that deny men and women’s dignity and agency, and “burdens” inconvenient, profitable, or pollutants, and let them decide the viability of each on their merits.

  5. So far, there’s nothing in the Seattle Times about the courageous parents who confront school boards about CRT and its associated mandates and prohibitions. Nor does it address this ideology pro or con, in its reporting on candidates for school boards here. We can’t trust such a ‘news’ organ.

  6. CRT is a lie, plain and simple. My concern is that conservative politicians believe the answer is to pass laws outlawing the teaching of it. This makes resistance to CRT appear political. It isn’t political. It’s a question of truth. This is where the debate should be made. It’s a battle of ideas (truth), not a battle between Democrats and Republicans. Banning an idea is what the left does.

  7. School board members are among the public officials least separated from the community. They can be approached, peacefully, and have the reality explained to them. And should be.
Make it clear you know what CRT is and means and ask if they do.

  8. The democrat party is caught between the proverbial “rock and a hard place”.

On one hand, they need to harvest future generations of indoctrinated voters.

On the other hand, they are blatantly attacking parent’s children. And there is no way to convincingly put lipstick on that pig.

Nothing more greatly arouses deep, lasting outrage than for adults to attack a parent’s child. Doing it with the official imprimatur of approved ‘education’ simply brings home to parents that their children’s teachers, school adminstrators and board of education officials have embraced an intolerable evil.

The Louden Board of Education, by shutting down the hearing of grievance has eliminated any doubt as to their intentions and has declared themselves in support of tyranny. If they can’t be voted out of office other means of removal will have to be found.

There can come a time and circumstances arise, when no other perception than Barry Goldwater’s will suffice; “Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”

    Thomas Jefferson’s relevant thoughts;

“The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite.

“When once a Republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil.”

“When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.”

    Re: “Battle of Ideas”

The Left have won every Battle of Ideas for several hundred years now. Truth isn’t going to get anybody very far against them. Truth might be useful as a rhetorical unifying morale boosting tonic for one’s own side in this fight… but you want to change the Ideas, you’re going to have to seize power by any means available and put some serious permanent hurt on the Left. You can’t bury their Ideas unless those ideas are given a ceremonial send-off with a suitable Burnt Offering (there’s a lovely Ten Dollar Greek Word for this, but it’s been culturally appropriated).

We’re the Good (Bad) Whites… I get it. We stand for Truth, Justice, Fairness, Constitutionalism, you name it. What have these shiny things done for you lately though? They will geld your grandsons faster than you can Socratic Dialog and Norman Rockwell Town Meeting them into submission.

  10. The Education/indoctrination Inc. apparatchiks may be experiencing a preference cascade.

  11. Om…my sense is some of these CRTers need to experience a short rope to long drop cascade. But I could be wrong.

  12. So why do you get so much enjoyment out of crapping on people who are trying to start a preference cascade? The only way you get one is by pushing the Overton Window with a D11.

The crowd in the square didn’t engage in a dialectic with Ceaucescu on the finer points of Communist Doctrine. They hurled gut-felt hatred, contempt, and abuse at him.

Your Politeness and Non-Nastiness is just Leftist Morality. The Left wrote your moral code. How do you defeat them using the rules they wrote? That doesn’t work with rules written by leftists. It gets worse.. even if you could come up with an original morality, you’d get it wrong. Only a Conservative would be stupid enough to invent a rule book which gives all the advantage to his opponents. But this is what happens every time. Alinsky is laughing at you in Hell.

  13. Reposting this for your benefit, Om:

    https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2021/05/28/us-soldiers-expose-nuclear-weapons-secrets-via-flashcard-apps/

“For US soldiers tasked with the custody of nuclear weapons in Europe, the stakes are high. Security protocols are lengthy, detailed and need to be known by heart. To simplify this process, some service members have been using publicly visible flashcard learning apps — inadvertently revealing a multitude of sensitive security protocols about US nuclear weapons and the bases at which they are stored.”

    J____ F_____g C_____!

How is it even possible to be this @#$%ing moronic?

Not a serious military. Not a serious country.

    Need. To. Clean. House.

  14. babelbox:

And your country is? Can’t Do? The land of Han? Or Great Britain? If Great Britain don’t they need you, one of the best and brightest?

Post another tome, you Can Do! it.

  15. @Om:

Or there was the one where all their secret bases were found because they were going for jogs and logging them on Strava for bragging rights.

Jordan Peterson has a special message just for you about your Room.

  16. babelbox:

Yep that story is at least 18 months old, and you point is what again, that you and Yammer have brains as big as a planet? And yet you can’t understand that a Preference Cascade is a social phenomenon that doesn’t necessarily result in immediate bloodshed, you know, that the USA might not be the same as Romania? Or that the Loudon County school board just might, with their Sheriff, get unelected by voters? A preference cascade at the polls? Nope got to kill some poeple. What a maroon. Stay in Hong Kong.

  17. “the Loudon County school board just might, with their Sheriff, get unelected by voters?” om

If the school board and the sheriff are reelected… what do you suggest then be done?

  18. Geoffrey Britain:

Continue and intensify their resistance, home school, charter school, parochial school. Sue the sons and daughters of unwed mothers who populate the board and the Sheriff’s office. Laudon County is pretty well to do, not like the county I grew up in Prince William County.

Now I assume you think that all is already lost, it seems to be your trope, but it ain’t yet the time to start killin them traiters. Maybe they just need to read some RAH?

  19. I think I’m with GB & TJ on this one…
“When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.”

  20. Racism is a class of diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment). Critical Racists’ Theory presumes diversity, inequity, and exclusion that breeds adversity is a progressive condition (e.g. systemic) that is at risk of liberalization (i.e. diverging).

From Nazis past braying about Jew privilege to neo-Nazis present braying about White privilege. #HateLovesAbortion

  21. @nn

That is some next level incoherence right there, but if we loaded you up in a Trebuchet and launched you at the Left, you could still do some good for the Cause. At ‘em, Flyboy!

  22. This will never stop. The leftists and democrats will fight this issue
    forever.

Unless and until we eliminate the federal indoctrination centers
nationwide and put the people of each state county in charge the left will continue.

  23. I’m getting very tired of the genre of progressive commentary on CRT that writes the whole thing off as a moral panic caused by some deep conservative neuroses that are, apparently, only recognizable to progressives.

There was another one on RealClearPolitics this morning. What condescending drivel.

  24. Teaching a majority of the nation (whites + men + straight people + kaffir religious people) to hate themselves is not going to end well.

  25. }}} Have we learned nothing from our history?

Oh, we all have. Some people don’t care… because THEY ARE EVIL, and it gives them POWER.

Truman was particularly irked by the “professional liberal,” whom he distinguished from “real liberals” like himself. Professional liberals lived by slogans and saw American politics as an ideological war, which Truman considered alien to the genius of the Democratic party. In his lifetime the party was a sort of political melting pot in which conservative Southerners and moderate border-state men like Truman found common ground with Eastern liberals. “Professional liberals are too arrogant to compromise,” Truman said. “In my experience they were also very unpleasant people on a personal level. Behind their slogans about saving the world and sharing the wealth with the common man lurked a nasty hunger for power. They’d double-cross their own mothers to get it or keep it.”
    — Eight Days With Harry Truman —
    https://www.americanheritage.com/eight-days-harry-truman#

ALL PostModern Liberals qualify as “professional” liberals. And 99% of all liberals today are PMLs.

  26. }}} School board members are among the public officials least separated from the community. They can be approached, peacefully, and have the reality explained to them. And should be.
Make it clear you know what CRT is and means and ask if they do.

What PLANET do you live on?

They are LIBERAL HACKS, and their goals are power. Nothing else.

And maintaining power over children is not done by surrendering to their parents’ dictates…

Loudoun County School Board chair accuses parents objecting to CRT of pushing ‘dog-whistle politics’
    https://thepostmillennial.com/loudoun-county-school-board-chair-accuses-parents-objecting-to-crt-of-pushing-dog-whistle-politics

And the merdia, of course, is selling ALL of this as a right-wing racist homophobic harangue against trans people and PoCs…

Figure it out, dude, these people are on the cusp of permanent power, or believe it.

In no alternate quantum universe do they give a #$%^@$&%$ inch.

  27. Meanwhile the Mennonites here in my Appalachian county are educating their children – many of whom are black and brown kids saved by way of adoption from various Democrat controlled shitholes across the country – at their own expense in schools they build themselves. They educate their kids at a cost about half that of the public school down the road. They turn out honest, hard-working folk who mind their own business, bother no one, and take nothing from government. Golly, how is that possible? There’s a lesson in this.

  28. OBloody. Missed the point. It’s not about ideas. It’s about them knowing we know who they are and what they’re up to. The thing about “and tell me It’s raining”. Pressure, along with the political action. I’ve known some who are not evil. Dumb, though. Pressure might work.

  29. om,

“Continue and intensify their resistance, home school, charter school, parochial school. Sue the sons and daughters of unwed mothers who populate the board and the Sheriff’s office…”

In order for resistance to be effective it must have leverage. Presumably the majority of parents agree with the school board, given that Biden won in Loudoun County with 61.3% of the vote. So what percentage of parents will pull their children out of Loudoun’s public schools?

Upon what legal basis do you propose to sue those sons and daughters?

I don’t favor “killin them traiters”. I do favor permanent loss of citizenship and deportation for non-violent traitors.

Wherein we disagree is twofold; the nature of the threat and the reality of the left’s strategic position; culturally, economically and politically.

I see the activist left as ideological fanatics and history has repeatedly demonstrated that ideological fanaticism can only be stopped with violence. I deeply wish it were otherwise.

Apparently you still believe that enough voters can be reasoned out of support for democrat candidates. We’ve been trying that at least since Reagan and where we are today confirms that you can’t reason people out of positions they’ve reached absent reason.

  30. Geoffrey Britain:

You don’t see parents in VA, TX, NY and other states going to school boards and saying enough of this? Talk about willful blindness.

Otay, and how is that deportation process working today for violent non citizens? Talk to me some more about willful blindness and rationality.

So I would guess that in Geoffrey world killin them traiters is the only option.

  31. My mother told me about a news segment she watched this morning on CRT. Someone defended it against accusations that it was making kids feel bad, saying that you need to feel hurt sometimes in order to learn. First of all, if that’s their answer, that’s pretty damning. They can’t even pretend to say “no, we’re not teaching anything that hurts kids!” – they jump straight to saying “it’s okay because kids need to be hurt sometimes.” And second, while ADULTS can certainly learn from being hurt and sometimes need to feel a sense of shame in order to have insight into their actions and improve their behavior, that method of teaching is not appropriate for elementary-school-aged children.

  32. that method of teaching is not appropriate for elementary-school-aged children.

It’s fine to make youngsters feel ashamed. What’s not fine is insisting they be ashamed of being white. Here’s a research project: from diaries, interviews, old tests and teacher’s guides, &c what analogues to this diAngelo / Kendi project can you find in the South’s negro schools during the period running from 1877 to 1954?

You want to see an indicator of the attitude of the educational apparat, look at how college administrators react to the troll, ‘It’s OK to be white’. The reaction is quite hostile, as the troll asserts that random white people are not in need of some certificate from the sort of tool who works in college administration to be considered satisfactory human beings. They are satisfactory on account of their essence and personal conduct. This whole mess is propagandizing youngsters as if they were a defeated enemy.

  33. Decriminalize school truancy.
    Homeschool.
Allow 16-year-olds to take GED and allow college admission based on that.

  34. Zaphod, talk is cheap and you’re full of it.

Enough of your barstool-perched drunk’s belligerent words, show us your deeds.

  35. “… you need to feel hurt sometimes in order to learn….”

I’m so old I remember when going that extra mile to make kids feel self-esteem was THE goal of education—more important even than teachin’ ’em anything, so it seemed to me, at least.

I guess that was then….and this is now: NOW that the Democrats are able to make those kids feel like guano (um, sorry Boo), they’re—yep—going that extra mile.

    File under: Because WE CAN!!

  36. I’m so old I remember when going that extra mile to make kids feel self-esteem was THE goal of education

The teacher’s colleges, the school apparat, and the body of teachers themselves are quite vulnerable to fads.

A great many of these people want to do anything but set and enforce fixed standards of conduct and fixed standards of performance. (And many of them are lacking subject knowledge and too fixated on their feelz to be capable in the administration of standards).

  37. “…fads…”

OK, but when totalitarian impulses (including personal torture in the form of tearing down and rebuilding the personalities of K-12 youngsters, youth, or even college students) become “fads”, then we’re in deep trouble.

(Cue the Komsomol theme song?…but change to words to include catchy phrases of race hatred directed towards the group du jour…)

After, all, these kids DID NOT CHOOSE to join the Marine Corps. (at least not yet)…but it sure would be funny(!) if these experiences were to lead to increased enrolment in the latter in the future….

  38. Humans have trouble with nonlinear phenomena. Acceleration, positive feedback, exponential functions . We think in straight lines and are surprised when things reach criticality.

The CRT thing to me feels like that criticality; that point where the curve goes undeniably vertical. We are watching a coordinated nationwide move to indoctrinate the entire youth of the country —the irreplaceable cohort of kids 6-16– with this evil self-destructive crap. If it succeeds, we are done as a nation.

    It really is that simple.

  39. “Texas is fighting back. Some parents have had enough!” – Jack

From the link: “The school board did not have anything related to CRT on its agenda for the meeting and insists CRT is not in the district’s curriculum.”

Truth, or gaslighting, given we know that CRT proponents lie about what they are doing (see “motte-and-bailey” techniques).

I point out that Ft. Worth is known to be a True Texian Town, unlike Dallas and Austin (despite its pedigree), but even Dallas parents are agin’ CRT.
