Twelve Republican senators call for emergency audit — 20 Comments

  1. G#DD#M#T, this should have happened in November, *not* in January.
Wellll, that’s why they’re often known as the Stupid Party.

  2. A comment from “Olinser” on the Jacobson article linked by neo:

“Color me cynical, but the fact that they waited TWO MONTHS to FINALLY say they’re going to do it says that they don’t actually think they’ll succeed, but they’re just trying to placate the rubes with a rousing round of Failure Theatre.”

  3. Why not? Counting votes isn’t rocket science. Simple arithmetic. Could be done in one day. Like previous Election Days. Anything else not kosher. GOP must reverse course and support Cruz et al. IMHO.

  4. LAURENCE JARVIK:

It is my understanding that an audit is not the same as a recount or a simple vote count.

  5. If we’re going to be having elections in the future, it might be a good idea if more states, such as PA and MI, would elect their presidential electors by congressional district, as is currently done in ME and NE. That would at least limit what Democrats could gain by stuffing ballot boxes in the big cities.

  6. If the institutional Republican party hopes to survive, it will have to become more than the fundraising arm of the GOPe.

It will have to become part information clearing house, and an investigative and social action organization, too.

In fact, because of its institutional status in American life, it might be the only example of a conservative political organization capable of surviving sure to come lawfare and Lois Lerner style attacks intended to undermine and wreck any investigation, analysis, and information distribution role which it must accept. Must accept, that is, if tradition and liberty minded Americans are to retain any trustworthy organizational recourse to the completed conquest of most other American social institutions and channels of information by the SJW and Reset crowd.

By now, if our press was properly operating, we should have had critical investigative and analytical followup published nationally on any number of election irregularity stories. At the very least we would have nationally flogged, amd undyingly publicized and updated stories on how ballot harvesting and the instutional corruption and incompetence of Democrat run urban centers swayed the election.

Instead, we get fragmentary and disorganized flash in the pan announcents that the Kraken is about to be exposed, or the smoking gun is about to be discovered; and then, more smoke, and more assertions that someone somewhere smells smoke. Or , “insider” revelations by people who insist on remaining anonymous; with no systematic follow up. And even worse, nothing in the way of an organized and centralized response to those most blatantly obvious and known structural irregularities and procedural illegalities which were seen, recorded, and remain undeniable.

Doesn’t the the party realize that it is its own life that is at stake? Or do they figure that it is just another rinse and repeat scenario, because the rubes have nowhere else to go?

The history of known fraud in this election has to be nailed down, proven, collated, organized, authoritatively recorded, and made permanently available and part of the official record: so that no honest discussion of the election need rely on never-followed-up-local-reports, self aggrandizing rumors spread by “conservative” Internet attention whores, or reports by excitable bloggers.

No media organization seems structurally up to it, or even interested in it if they do have the potential resources to devote to it. They are primarily selling soap, after all.

So, if the Republican party itself does not undertake to literally write this declaration of causes document with a few of their many millions, and then permanently engrave it on the walls of the public arena, they may be figuratively writing their own, and perhaps our, obituary.

  7. Will the MSM cover the Senators call for an audit? Will they publish any of the evidence of fraud? So far, all allegations of fraud have been waved off as “baseless” with no existing evidence. Can the MSM continue to smother this story with a pillow…….until it quits moving? Can the MSM denounce all these Senators as cranks, hyper-partisans, and traitors without a dollop of evidence? Unfortunately, we know the answers to these questions.

My only hope is that some middle of the roaders or LIVs will begin to realize what a con the MSM is running. Other than that, I have no hopes for substantial changes in anything.

  8. Too little, too late. As, without GOP and some democrat support, it’s a necessary but futile gesture.

It’s necessary because this will reveal the true nature of every democrat in the Senate and House. As, a refusal by a member of Congress to protest against a direct attack upon the Constitution is to confirm that they are in fact a traitor. To in effect, support a direct and mortal attack upon the Constitution is to engage in treason.

  9. bof,

Upon what basis would you imagine that democrats have any interest in limiting their treason? And yes, this is treason most foul.

As at this level, stuffing ballot boxes is a direct attack upon the Constitution. An attack that if successful, makes of the Constitution a dead letter.

  10. Geoffrey Britain,

Republicans do control the legislature in Michigan, so they could change the method for choosing presidential electors. If Michigan chose their electors the way Maine and Nebraska do (one from each congressional district, two at large), then the Democrats could manufacture phony votes ad infinitum in Detroit, and it would only affect the two or three districts around Detroit (which they could probably win honestly) plus the two at-large electors.

  11. bof, the Michigan GOP under Shirkey and Chatfield are spineless rubber crutches.
There’s a lot more they could have done, but didn’t.

Geoffrey Britain, email me at edward at bonderenka dot com please.

  12. PowerLineBlog (and others) have write ups on the times when Dems made these same protests under frivolous circumstances.

Sen Blackburn has spoken well on a number of occasions but I notice that she voted to overturn the Trump veto and in favor of big pork spending. I’m a bit puzzled.

  13. American historian and informal advisor to the Trump campaign in 2016, Larry Schweikart, opines that when the state Legislatures refused to overturn “Certified” fraud elections, the political case against this so-called election was over.
    (See “LS” comments here https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3920238/posts?q=1&;page=221)

Thus, he thinks, a protest vote by 10 Senators on the 6th, or some more is this document is indicative, will not see Joe Biteme off from becoming DementiaDent of the former USA.

But I still believe that this anti-Democratic Democrat “process” (like the first CW), the four years of permanent coup against a duly elected president (See Lee Smith), culminating in a stolen “election,” means that CW2 begins immediately after the so-called “Congress” endorses this abortion.

How this de facto war begins or proceeds, I cannot foretell. Will it be with riots or Boston Tea Party street theatrics or Tax Strikes or Euro-style “general strikes” or Hong Kong style flash mob protests or even secession before violence and blood letting and guerrilla style terror against corrupt office holding traitors begins? Or all of the above? I have no clue.

But I do know the itch to scratch out the Enemy is deep and growing and lasting to get out and righteously attack and kill traitors.

Trump fought them ALL for us. Very shortly it falls to us alone — until, eventually, the military takes sides.

THAT’S how huge these short days ahead are for the year(s) to come. Warn the pols. Warn them. Prepare for the worst.

Apres les deluge is too late.

  14. I will call both my senators tomorrow to urge them to support this effort. I don’t suppose they will, to their shame. Tillis is better than a Democrat, but barely, and Burr won’t run in 2022.

  15. The very very sad reality seems to be that GOPe want Trump voters – but NOT Trump himself. And usually not all of Trump’s popular policies.

Most college educated Reps, like me, have as many or more friends and social contacts who are Trump-hating Dems than are Trump-supporting Reps. Among the few Reps, many are not so keen on Trump.

The GOP leaders will continue to be mostly college educated. Elites or elite wannabes. There will be more possibilities in 2022 for more anti-illegal, pro-freedom Reps, but most GOPe seem pretty content with losing Trump, gaining in the House (tho still a minority. As usual.), and maybe keeping the Senate.

Failure Theatre. But at least getting more of the fraud, and objections to it, on record.

No justice for Sec. Clinton’s illegal server, nor bribery Foundation. Almost none for the Russian Hoax (one guilty plea of written false note). None for the fake Ukraine crime impeachment.
Won’t be any justice for the election fraud.

Until voters vote anti-fraud politicians. Which seems unlikely at this point. 🙁

  16. Will President of the Senate, VP Pence, not count unconstitutional elector slates on January 6th?

Attorney Leslie Dundas thinks he won’t, based on history of the exercise of that singular discretionary power, plus Pence’ own words bearing on the topic, from just over a week ago, as heard by Leslie herself in person.

I don’t know enough to disbelieve her account. Just have a listen. And maybe, perhaps, the Divine spark will manifest itself in the Vice President’s courage….

  17. Just while waiting for Neo’s new posts to come online:
Has anyone else noticed that there have been few or no references at Neo’s Salon to Andrew McCarthy’s punditry about the election results and the claims from Trump vs the rebuttals from the Democrats and selected Republicans?

I made a couple of comments myself a few weeks ago, but only recently caught up with his articles. He is against all the efforts challenging the voting in any and all states, or so it seems to me. I may have missed a few caveats.

His rhetoric is not quite so rabid as AP’s at HotAir, but he falls well into the “nothing to see here and if there was it doesn’t matter any more” camp.

Have we siloed ourselves too much, or is he the one with blinkers?
Since it took him an astonishing amount of time and evidence to admit that his DOJ and FBI heroes were lying scoundrels, that could go either way.

However, I hesitate to put my own impressions against McCarthy’s professional, and possibly better-informed, analysis.

Fortunately, on the internet, there is almost always someone who agrees with me!

I have admired Andrew McCarthy since I was a diplomat in the Middle East, and he filed the indictment against Sheikh Omar for the 1994 bombing of the World Trade Center. He has been right, and courageous, about many things in the years since then. But he is wrong about the massive election fraud in November, and especially about the Allied Security Operations Group report signed by Russ Ramsland that focuses on the role of the Dominion Voting Systems machines in Antrim County, Michigan.

In “A Whopper of An Election Rigging Claim,” McCarthy clarifies the misunderstanding about the reported 68 percent error rate. But he goes on to accuse Ramsland, wrongly, of many other errors. It seems as though McCarthy is basing his criticism on reporting in the Detroit Free Press, and he fails to understand several important matters. Let me point them out in no particular order.

There’s a very easy way to resolve all of this. It’s what all of the Trump and Republican lawsuits have been requesting since November 4. We need full forensic audits of all the machines used in the six metropolitan areas where counting was stopped and ballots were dumped. We also need a full bipartisan examination of the paper ballots and machine reports of those votes.

Every American should want to know that our voting system is secure. But the Democrats, the elected officials who approved the voting machine contracts and who conducted the questionable ballot counts, and the owners of Dominion voting systems and other voting machines have fought furiously to prevent it.

“What are they so afraid of?” Ramsland asked. ”What is this fanatical effort to avoid real audit or transparency?”

We would never allow a publicly traded security to go without a third-party audit, substituting that with a ‘trust us, these are the numbers’ approach,” he added. “Why are we to accept this in our most sacred right to vote and have it recorded accurately? And clearly, the public is now awakening to the fact the voting system, and the people in charge of safeguarding it, cannot be trusted without audit and transparency.”

Why won’t Democrats just allow audits? You would think it’s in their collective interest to prove that their hands are clean and that the elections were clean. You would think that they would want an investigation because it would exonerate them. But they don’t. What are they hiding?

And why have the media neglected to ask these questions?

And why are nominally conservative pundits, politicians, and press buying into the refusal?

Cross-reference: the Georgia Phone Call on the “no evidence” thread.

  18. Always nice to find people who agree with me and are paid for their opinions. She echoes a lot of what we’ve discussed on Neo’s threads, so I will just quote her rhetoric that supports my question above: why are nominally conservative pundits, politicians, and press buying into the Democrats’ refusal to agree to full, transparent investigations?

The essence of conservatism is to conserve principles of due process and the rule of law. Those values are essential for avoiding chaos and tyranny. So why would anyone identifying as conservative ignore the innumerable oddities revealed since November 3?

Even the editorial board of the supposedly conservative New York Post in telling President Trump to “give it up” would not squarely address the central concern: auditability of votes and transparency. Its ad hominem argumentation included the Pravda-esque line “Sidney Powell is a crazy person.”

We already know that Big Tech and the propaganda media are invested in fraud denial and in shutting up anybody who asks about abnormalities by comparing them to Holocaust deniers. Sadly, that’s no puzzle. Nor need we question why Democrats don’t care if their win is perceived as grand theft by scores of millions of Americans. They just don’t care how they’re perceived as long as they can control every aspect of what they view as your sad and unworthy little life.

So the more vexing question—and the rude awakening—is this: Why do so many self-identified conservatives play along with a media machine that is already 95 percent in the Democrats’ corner? The list is long, and includes many big-name Republican officials who have taken a particularly hostile stance against any real investigation into voter fraud, including Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, and scores of other supposedly conservative members of Congress.

As Federalist editor Mollie Hemingway recently pointed out, there is “a big disconnect between most of ‘conservative’ blue checkmark Twitter and the bulk of average Americans on the right” regarding the existence of election fraud. No question about that.

In addition to GOP officials, lots of self-identified conservative pundits have rejected concerns about voter fraud in this most bizarre of elections. Popular American Conservative writer Rod Dreher, among others, has mocked those who challenge the election results.

Why is it so important to these conservatives that every single American aligns with a propaganda machine that is now almost completely anti-thought? At the very least, they should understand the stakes of allowing massive electoral oddities to go unexamined. They should be especially unsettled about the loss of trust in our electoral process rather than joining with the left in dismissing so many concerned citizens as kooks.

In short, why are they so willing to accept abnormalities as normal?

She suggests five possibilities which I commend to your attention.
