He is personal about his own newspaper reporting in Chicago, and explains how the Press treatment of Obama was a trust changing tipping point. I believe it was a big influence, but have a different perspective on true reporting on politics.
A good reporter should be able report accurately all 4 types of T true news stories: Good for Dems, Bad for Dems; Good for Reps, Bad for Reps.
The news treatment on Obama’s ignored the Bad for Dems-Obama. But they had long been ignoring the other quarter Good for Reps.
I’m now reading with sensitivity to all 4 truths. The coverage of Epstein was to show bad for Dems and bad for Reps. But no smoking guns.
No talk about a trove of videos that’s supposed to exist, and had been in a safe. Maybe that was just fake.
I just found this piece written shortly after the 2024 election, by a Canadian no less. Not exactly a changer but as the title says…
@Tom Grey:A good reporter should be able report accurately all 4 types of T true news stories: Good for Dems, Bad for Dems; Good for Reps, Bad for Reps.
They should be able to, but personnel is policy, and once there’s a critical mass of leftists in the news room, good for D / bad for R is conflated with “true” and good for R / bad for D is conflated with “false”.
And that’s a big difference right there. Left-leaning outlets emphasize the hiring of True Believers. Right-leaning outfits don’t screen out leftist True Believers very well. There’s too many personal connections.

So how do you handle aliens?

“Feds arrest antifa activist in Minnesota, charged with making threats to ICE”
The Justice Department announced charges Thursday against Kyle Wagner, accusing the self-identified antifa agitator of encouraging the murder of federal officers.
“Donald Trump declares ‘religion is back’ at National Prayer Breakfast”
“I don’t know [how] a person of faith can vote for a Democrat. I really don’t,” Mr. Trump said.
He said his administration is pushing back on the “militant and, really, intolerant campaign that tried to drive religious believers out of public life and out of society.
“Texas AG Ken Paxton sues to boot Muslims’ CAIR from the state”
CAIR says its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice and empower American Muslims.
Yet Mr. Paxton’s suit, filed in federal court in Collin County, alleges CAIR is fundamentally tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that’s been designated as a terrorist organization in the U.S. and other countries. […]

AI narration still doesn’t get intonation, pauses, sentence stress, etc. (so-called suprasegmentals) right.
Here’s a good speech by John Kass given to Hillsdale:

Even the people who deliver good for R / bad for D news are frequently themselves on the Left, they’re just taking a paycheck until they get the position they really want. A right-leaning news outfit can perhaps survive a few of them until they get into leadership positions.

what if you just peed in your pants 5 times in a row?
The video made me think of the cat versus bear videos on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/shorts/bJdikTcHHy0
Claws in your nose is something to avoid. If you are planning to hike in bear country train your cat to ride on top of your backpack.
Grizzly Bears will mess you up but Black Bears will eat you.
huxley, you sound so much like my brother. Firesign Theater! And I think I’ve seen you refer to Wallace & Gromit.
Kate:
Ask your brother about the following:
Georgie Tirebiter from More Science High.
Nick Danger and the arch villain Rocky Rococo.
The Devouring Period and Ralph Spoilsport Motors.
I’ll be going to huxley’s linked Fireside Theater videos.
We are partial to Wallace and Gromit as well.
How embarrassing:
“The Firesign Theater.”
We’re all bozos on this bus

Kate, om, Marisa:
Good to hear of Firesign fans, wherever you are.
As Phil Austin, a Firesign member and the voice of “Happy” Harry Cox on “Everything You Know is Wrong!” said:
You either like to loon around or you don’t.
