  1. Nathan Pinkoski with one of the more impressive, profound and sweeping posts of the many impressive ones out there, explaining what’s at stake for the West at this stage of the game.

The topic: using Jean Raspail’s vast experience, astonishing intelligence and foresight as the point of reference, he analyzes how the West has reached this critical juncture in its history/evolution and how, therefore, it might extricate itself from the current nihilistic, existential crisis in which it finds—or has created for—itself, “might“ being the operative word here.

A must read, actually (even if one can’t agree with some—or any—of the assumptions, the conclusions or the gist of this remarkable, clearheaded, stone-cold-sober post…)

  2. Good news Victor Davis Hanson is back. There’s no doubt we are getting close to a civil war. I wonder how many of the 500 million firearms in the hands of the American people are held by the left?

    Slouching towards Fort Sumter
“Minnesota’s defiance of federal immigration law echoes pre–Fort Sumter nullification, forcing Trump to choose between enforcement and letting blue states slide toward open rebellion. In the months before the April 12, 1861, firing on Fort Sumter, there were lots of sharp divisions in the North about the proper reaction to the first seven Confederate states that had already left the Union. Not all Unionists believed that war was inevitable. Some, in fact, were happy to be done with the departing South and thus see their stain of slavery gone from the Union. Similarly, others agreed that the emerging Confederacy was…”

  3. @Mike Plaiss:I think this is wonderful. I hope he wins.

In theory he could order whoever defends the lawsuit on behalf of the IRS or the Treasury to throw in the towel and then collect $10 billion. That sort of abuse of power is exactly what impeachment would be for….

I’m guessing there is much more to the story, though. He may be doing sue-and-settle so that there’s a precedent established that stops others from having the same done to them or gives him the green light to leak tax returns to anyone he wants, who knows. Or maybe this is just more chaff for the news cycle.

  4. I’m reminded about the Italian PM Meloni:
15 Germans, 15 Danes, & 15 Italians all go to Greenland.
Sounds like the beginning of a joke.

If her seemingly stable govt lasts past September, 2026, she’ll become the longest serving postwar Italian PM. As well as it’s first woman.
