Scott Adams has passed away this morning. He’ll be greatly missed, such a good soul. RIP
Sorry to hear Scott Adams has passed. He will, indeed, be missed.
Sad to hear about Scott Adams.
Matt Walsh again delivering a warning:
“And that is, indeed, where Democrats want this crisis to go. Democrats in power will happily use any demographic group — whether it’s unhinged women or sub-literate Somalis — to trigger a broader, more violent civil conflict in this country. They want to provoke more incidents like this one, until they get the violence they’re looking for. The overriding policy goal of the Democrat Party, for the better part of a decade, has been to cause a domestic color revolution in this country. If not a full-on civil war, they want widespread riots and social upheaval that dismantles our constitutional order and the rule of law. In this case, they want a direct, violent conflict between the states and officers of the federal government. ”
Full article, worth a read especially the last half:
We all knew it was coming, but he was so lively and brave until the very end, that it was still hard to believe.
A life well-lived.
RIP Scott Adams (1957-2026)
physicsguy, indeed: it’s the unholy, if prodigiously seductive spawn of Cloward-Piven(TM), continued.
As has been the case for so many years now, sheer violence, lawlessness, crime, lies, threats and intimidation enrobed in a filthy, fraying, moth-eaten gown of sanctimonious virtue is the ONLY thing the Democrats—and their fellow travelers in Europe and the anglosphere—got.
OTOH, one might well wonder to what extent this exquisitely-planned tumult on the part of the Democrats and their “viva la resistance!” ilk is also, in part, an attempt to prevent Trump from focusing his energies on defeating their allies in Caracas and Teheran…
Barry,
Indeed. Here’s a direct quote from a leftist friend. Yes, he’s a friend and normal in all things except Trump and politics. Note how he ignores the plight of the Iranian people themselves:
“Mr. Nobel Peace Prize
Has blown ships out of the water.
Struck Venezuela of militarily and threatens to take it over.
Says that he will get Greenland in any way shape or form.
Let’s his goons kill innocent Americans.
And
Now
Wants to start a war with Iran.”
physicsguy:
Does he get the “crazy eyes” when venting about OMB?
“to start”
Jeez, what a silly man. Hereafter, I’d reckon, safely ignored on such matters.
Yes, with him and my BiL, and several others, I don’t engage with them in anything political. Cannot be reasoned with at all.

Trump sounds a bit overqualified. 🙂
It is not necessary for the Trump administration to give the mullahs, IRGC, basij et alia a heads up on attacks being planned. It is, on the other hand, quite necessary to coordinate and carry out all such attacks as expeditiously as possible. Time’s a wastin’, damnit. Get busy.
Thank you to everyone to answered my question in the last open thread, about how shooting Renee Nicole Good could make her car stop in time for the ICE officer to avoid death or severe injury.
FWIW Bob Weir, youngest founding member of the Grateful, died three days ago, making it to 78 years-old.
I remember him as the skinny young heartthrob in a band that otherwise looked like a chapter of the Hells Angels. Still Weir could belt out a Dead vocal and hold down the fort on rhythm guitar while Garcia spiraled away on lead.
Here’s one of the songs Weir wrote with Robert Hunter, which became a staple in the Dead canon:

Year….”
Yea, at an absolute (if not unbelievable) minimum.
If you add in the $$$ wasted due to inefficiencies + stupid and worthless programs, plus programs / departments that accomplish zero (e.g., Dept of Education), etc, etc., I would not be surprised if the total amount is on the order of 30% of the entire US budget.
By the way, the Fed Chairman, Jerome Powell, will be spending
about $ 3.1 BILLION to re-hab the federal reserve building in DC.
This compares to about $ 3 BILLION that was spent to build the new World Trade Center in Manhattan, NYC.
There is no way that someone or some group is not receiving kick-backs / bribes in regards to the federal reserve work.
That link to Matt Walsh is a good one. He’s right; the leftists have tried, and are trying, to effect a “color revolution” here in the U.S., to destroy the country and rebuild in their own image, which will be violent, as we see.
SCOTUS had oral arguments on males in females sports. The left media are not happy. As always we have to be cautious of Roberts and Barrett forcing a narrow ruling. It looks like KJB still cannot say what a woman is.
Trump says, “Help is on its way.” Hooray!

“I’ve canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killing of protesters stops,” Trump says, repeating his announcement from the Truth Social post, again telling protesters, “help is on its way.”
I hope help is indeed coming soon! To those who say Trump is trying to “start a war with Iran,” I wonder where they’ve been. Iran has been calling for “death to America” and funding attacks on us since 1979.
I’d like to add my sentiments to Huxley’s RIP for Bob Weir.
I’m not surprised that, for the most part, conservatives haven’t mourned the passing of The Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir. Among other things, there were all those drugs.
I was never a big fan of the band, but I’ll admit that Weir wrote some good songs, and that Dead concerts could be fun events. Weir’s passing seems like another one of those end-of-an-era deaths. Too many of those lately.
Beyond the big-picture cultural notes, I’d like to mention that I met Weir way back in the late ’70’s. We both happened to be in the same Mexican beach town at the same time. For a couple of weeks, I spent quite a bit of time with him. There was lots of body-surfing during the days, and too much drinking at nights. Weir was always a nice guy, a regular guy, without the rock-star pretensions that infected so many people back then. RIP.
Bob Wilson — YES indeed.
John Tyler quotes Treasury Secretary“….Scott Bessent: 10% of US Government Spending Is Stolen Every Single
Year….”
I believe this figure comes from a GAO estimate. It deserves more detailed elaboration. How serious is this estimate? How much should we, hating fraud, push it?
The Dispatch (a group of defunct “Weekly Standard” holdovers like Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes) held a year-end news analysis in December on YT.
Sticking with me for weeks was newly included Megan McArdle, responding to the closing question of under-covered 2025 news stories, who offered amazing self-driving car technology advances.
McArdle follows a blog author devoted to this emerging technology. Her summary of the past year’s testing was stunning: accidents declined by 95%, and virtually all of the rest were the result of other (ie, human) error.
Just imagine if already declining auto death rates plummeted to only a few thousand per year! Becoming a rare event?
In the first week of January, the annual Consumer Electronics Convention was held in Las Vegas. And the key note speaker was Nvidia founder Jensen Huang.
The problem Nvidia has faced in designing self-driving cars is answering the common objections to the practice, how does it handle unfamiliar and evolving street and road terrain? Circumstance that puts human control in greater advantage?
Jensen Huang says that Nvidia software technology harnesses a fail-safe override, ie, AI chips that rapidly “learn” how to navigate an uncharted path through physical obstacles.
McArdle tells us that this hi-tech revolution is much closer than people believe. There is rapid adoption n the horizon.
Huang cites a safety organization evaluating new Nvidia innovations resulting in their first designation as Safest Vehicle riding/driving rating.
Like it or not, it’s coming.
who offered amazing self-driving car technology advances.
I’ve been seriously considering it, I’m not getting younger. I figure we are just about there with the technology, what will take longer are laws. Maybe at some point the cars will be licensed and the “driver” will be a passenger, like having a taxi parked in your garage. It will ruin the medical transport scam 🙂
An argument against self-driving cars…even if they are much safer:
David Foster, re: that link, we’d all become like the old aristocrats, having a chauffeur to take us where we tell him to take us.
I’m not getting in any car which doesn’t have manual door latches, especially a robot car.
My husband put his foot down and replaced our Camry with a Tesla a few years ago. I resisted at first but ended up loving it. It’s a game changer in stop and go traffic! We have not gotten Full Self Drive because neither of us is comfortable with the lane positioning on a curve and, well, trust. Having said that, I have experienced the amazing tech progress in real life – first just shapes by the side of the road, then people, then trash cans & mailboxes, then dogs – when it starts showing the wild chickens I may have to go FSD.
