Mamdani’s rogues gallery of appointments — 21 Comments

  1. When NYC suffers what is obviously a planned catastrophe, the response will be that the enemies are so strong…..we need a revolution. And, with luck (for the left) enough people will be so desperate that getting involved in a revolution won’t mean losing anything, they having nothing.

Decades ago, discussing the possibility of a revolution in South Africa, I said that if the people were miserable enough, they’d revolt. But at that point, whatever it looked like to the outside, they weren’t sufficiently miserable. Still had something to lose if things went sideways.

“They’ll have to be made miserable,” said a black grad student.

  2. All appointments are hard left. No sign of moderation at all.

On Tucker Carlson’s quoted remarks, who does he think favors America fighting Israeli wars? So far Israelis are doing fine. The one exception was the bunker busters on the underground nuclear site, and that was in America’s interests as well as Israel’s and the entire region’s.

  3. Carlson’s nonsense is a staple of Unz comment boards and you used to hear it here from the fellow who comments as ‘rcocean’.

  4. Will Mamdani try to get Maduro off the hook since the trial is in NYC. Why is that??? I can’t think of a worse place to try that guy. NY judges and juries are sure to let him off.

Should have been held in south FL with a jury of expat Venezuelans.

  5. “Will Mamdani try to get Maduro off the hook since the trial is in NYC. Why is that??? I can’t think of a worse place to try that guy. NY judges and juries are sure to let him off.”

    He won’t be tried.
    How do I know this?
NYC and The Deep State will make sure he gets Jeffrey Epstein’s old cell in The Metropolitan Correction Center. That’s where prisoners are “corrected.”

  6. Federal offense.

The NY commies are in control of the State and the City but I would imagine there may be a Federal incarceration facility.

Maduro is worth more to the alive than Arkancided.

  7. Mamdani’s statement on Venezuela; make of it what you will:

“I was briefed this morning on the U.S. military capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, as well as their planned imprisonment in federal custody here in New York City.

Unilaterally attacking a sovereign nation is an act of war and a violation of federal and international law.

This blatant pursuit of regime change doesn’t just affect those abroad, it directly impacts New Yorkers, including tens of thousands of Venezuelans who call this city home. My focus is their safety and the safety of every New Yorker, and my administration will continue to monitor the situation and issue relevant guidance.”

  8. Will the last person to leave NYC please turn out the lights?
Oh wait, the lights are already out.

  9. At least the Lenape got some beads from the Dutch when they gave Manhattan over to foreign interests.

  10. ‘We commies got to stick together.

    Forward for the Revolution Comrade!’

And the horse he rode in on.

Off topic – enjoyed “Ballad of a soldier” as recommended by neo.

  11. om:

Glad you enjoyed it. Was this the first time you ever saw it?

Interesting fact: when I first saw it in the movie theater as a child, we were a minute or two late. Therefore I missed the very beginning, which lets you know the ending. So I watched the whole film without knowing how it ends until I saw the actual ending. That obviously wasn’t the director’s intent, but ever since then I’ve thought it was a better way to see it. A small quibble, however. I have always loved that film.

  12. Joe Biden looks at the screen, and guffaws because he’s already better at it than Mamdani – heck, he had a tranny showing her breasts in front of the White House.

Still: NYC will be lit up in green tonight, celebrating all the contributions of Muslims, and spreading their joy. I wonder what color the lights will be at the Trade Center memorial.

  13. Just like O’Bama, Biden did, start packing every appointed position with Cultural Marxists. Anyone should have known that was going to be the case.
Bad thing will be most are political hacks with nothing but their theories to work with.
Good luck NY, you voted for it.

  14. I was researching another comment on Mamdani (see yesterday’s post), and fund this old post by Bill Whittle, which still seems relevant.
The podcast is missing, but might be found on The Internet Archive.

    https://billwhittle2.com/understanding-socialism/
“Unlike capitalism, socialism is not about our individual happiness, but rather on a very strong, emotional sense of interconnectedness. Firewall host Bill Whittle has devised a thought experiment that lets you experience that emotional reactor that drives the socialist movement.”

This “capture” probably covers the same territory (also posted on the first Maduro thread).
Also, a couple more of Bill’s videos, just for some context of how long we’ve been talking about the same issues.

Oddly, the Wayback Machine apparently only archives someone else reposting an original podcast.

  16. A comment found on Instapundit–

“Whatever it is (the new “Existential crisis”), the “solutions” will involve higher taxes, expanded government, more regulation, censorship, and worse standards of living for normal people. The solutions are always the same, only the crises change.”

  17. This article criticizing Tucker Carlson’s recent interview makes a point I never seen so clearly and simply expressed:

Islam is a comprehensive civilizational system that fuses religion, law, and governance.

Then the author makes a statement that most here would agree with:

For decades, Americans were sent abroad to fight men animated, in large part, by Islamic extremism. Now, having declared those wars misguided or immoral, we are told that adherents of that same ideology should be welcomed wholesale and treated as future citizens without discernment. Even if the wars were wrong, it does not follow that the ideology was benign, or that importing it strengthens the nation.

  18. Charity?

    Some might say, “insanity”…
(And not “temporary” but planned with malicious destruction aforethought—IOW, how to achieve total power by intentionally fomenting crises.)

“…Just How Insane Did Democrats Become On Immigration”—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/berenson-just-how-insane-did-democrats-become-immigration

But should planned, intentional “insanity”…be defined as insanity?

Or is it POLICY—an “invitation to a beheading”…?

  19. From Obama’s so-called “Transformation” of America to “Biden”’s systematic coverups, subversion, corruption, dishonesty and perversity; to the tremendous amount of corruption in Democratic-Party-run states and cities; the current actions taken by the State of Washington to massively cover up its own scandal involving Somali immigrants—paralleling the huge scandal in Minnesota—should leave no doubt, if any still existed, that social and national obliteration is the goal of the Democratic Party and like-minded organizations and governments in the US and around the world:
