Who is Mustapha Kharbouch and why are his pages being wiped? — 44 Comments

  1. My wife is second generation Italian. Can she apply for refugee status? /sarc. I, unfortunately, am 10 gen French Hugenot, no luck for me.

On the student’s online being wiped: given it’s Brown and RI, it’s not a stretch to think the rumors may be true and to conclude something conspiritorial.

  2. He’s a similar physical type to the fellow in the surveillance camera videos the authorities have been releasing.

  3. Is the interwebs truly forever? Who is doing the wiping? Obstructing an ongoing investigation perhaps? 48 hour rule ….. or nothing to see and a mostly peaceful (guy).

  4. This “Palestinian refugee” forever thing really bothers me. I knew a Punjabi family whose grandparents were run out of what is now Pakistan when India and Pakistan were established. Their grandparents didn’t die in the process, unlike about a million unlucky people. Our friends did not claim a “right of return.” They settled in Delhi and got on with life.

  5. The twentieth century had many instances of ethnic cleansing or other forced population transfers, and only for a selected few of them are people multiple generations removed still accorded “refugee” status. Just the ones that happened on Soviet territory before 1950 would be too long to list here.

A short list of peoples it happened to in the 20th century:

    Albanians
    Arabs
    Armenians
    Belarusians
    Bosniaks
    Bulgars
    Chechens
    Chinese
    Croats
    Germans
    Greeks
    Hungarians
    Indians
    Italians
    Japanese
    Jews
    Kalmyks
    Koreans
    Kurds

I haven’t even got to the second half of the alphabet.

  6. The deleted X/Twitter page, which someone saved, is mostly happy talk about a recent experience Mustapha Kharbouch had during a student internship at the International Crisis Group.

The two interesting bits are that the article refers to Kharbouch with they/their pronouns and this quote:
    ______________________________

As a Palestinian refugee who grew up witnessing the UN as a lifeline for my community, contributing directly to this was a deeply meaningful milestone in my professional journey.dds

    –Mustapha Kharbouch ’27
    ______________________________

    FOAF adds:

    huxley: “International Crisis Group”

The ICG is a notoriously anti-Zionist outfit, Robert Malley came out of there.

  7. Well, it is an interesting coincidence that Brown is practically wall to wall surveillance cameras … and this person who is suddenly being wiped from the uni’s social media pages resembles in many details the person on the footage being released to the media as a person of interest.
And that he would be in several different ways, a particular minority pet of the university establishment.
And that one of the two casualties at Brown would be a prominent and apparently outspoken conservative … resulting in whispers that perhaps she was the intended target of assassination because of her activities in the student body…
It’s just too curious, and people will note the coincidences and wonder if they are just coincidences…

  8. Supposedly somebody compared video of his stride in various protests to the video released by the authorities and it was a very close match. It may be what led the authorities to him. Crowd sourcing has flaws but it’s also very powerful.

  9. I’m all for the 48 Hour Rule.

However, these days I’ve got to assume that some substantial portion of that time on the part of authorities is figuring out how to spin the investigation to lessen or obviate the impact on so-called Oppressed Minorities.

  10. “Third generation Palestinian refugee” rings bells with me. In the 1960s, I knew a Palestinian Christian studying in the US. He left the West Bank, when it was still under Jordanian administration, to go to university in Lebanon. Several of his siblings had been in the US since the 1950s. Their father was a civil service employee under the Jordanian administration in the West Bank. The patriarch told his children to get out of the West Bank, because Muslims would always promote a fellow Muslim over a Christian. As a Christian working under the Jordanians, he knew what he was talking about.

  11. Someone’s gonna have to write a reverse Grapes of Wrath…

(The refugees, in this case, fleeing to OK in their Maseratis and Bugattis…with a trailer hookup…)

Time to buy shares in U-Haul? Ryder?
    Past time, no doubt…

  12. Screw the Palis and the rest of the muzzie world.
Would anything be lost if we got rid of them all?
Definitely a huge plus in the aggregate.

What I know so far about the Brown University political assassination of Ella Cook.

    > Shooter yelled Allahu Akbar

    > Ella Cook was specifically targeted and shot multiple times

    > Ella Cook was known on Brown Campus for being a proud Trump supporter and conservative activist. She was the VC of the Republican club on campus and received relentless attacks from far left groups on campus

    > The shooter walked past at least one other student (a minority) in the classroom to get to Ella Cook

    > The other victim was very likely collateral damage and hit with bullets meant for Ella

    > Local authorities released the name of an innocent White guy as a “person of interest” who didn’t fit the description of the killer at all. The killer is extremely overweight, Benjamin Erickson is skinny. This was likely on purpose to cement a narrative they wanted in the media.

    > A Brown University subreddit had to be shut down because in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, far left pro-palestine redditors were celebrating the murder of Ella Cook. Did any of them have advanced knowledge?

    > Gait analysis and other indicators point to Mustapha Kharbouch, a far left queer palestine activist involved in the radical left wing pro Hamas protests on campus.

    > Kharbouch was heavily involved in other far left terror adjacent activities on campus. Brown University is notorious for having a huge presence of pro-Hamas pro far left terrorist sympathizers.

    > Brown University has gone out of their way to completely scrub any mention of Kharbouch from their websites. Before the scrub they celebrated him in multiple articles and celebratory posts on their website. Kharbouch was also heavily connected to the administration and several noteworthy far left professors.

    > All of this was reported by anons, including myself and others with information from sources connected to the family and witnesses of the event

  14. A bit of possibly outside the box speculation:

Karbouch seems to put a lot of stock into the Palestinian-victim portion of his identity.

I’m going to make an educated guess that the professor who taught the class for which the review session was being held – Dr. Rachel Miriam Friedberg, who is part of the Judaic Studies program – was Jewish. Although she was not leading the study session, it was a TA.

How likely is it that Dr. Friedberg was the intended target, and that Ms Cook was a target of opportunity when Dr. Friedberg wasn’t there, or perhaps that study session was targeted because it offered a two-for-one opportunity?

  15. A random, which is to say a could-be-anybody, shooter would not know who was in a classroom he decided to attack.
As has been said before, here and there and endlessly, when coincidences coincide beyond a certain degree of probability, intent is possible.
A Jewish professor involved in, at least somewhat, Jewish activities and economics in general, and Brown’s closest example of Charlie Kirk supposedly in the same room at the same time might not be a real stretch, if Cook were taking a class from her and went to the review session. Was she taking the class or did she show up for some other reason which might not be expected?
That the prof didn’t show up might not have been knowable.

But….to do the probability, how many other classrooms were active that morning?

How many others had a lineup so attractive to the pro-pali leftists?

What was the location in the building of the room attacked? Was it near a door to the building and possibly chosen for easy access and then easy egress? The AG says that was part of the building, the “old part” which probably didn’t have a lot of, or functioning, cameras. Would that have been known to a rando off the street?

The answers to such questions approximate the likelihood that the room, and thus its inhabitants, was chosen for other than random interest in shooting up a classroom.

How was it known that Cook was shot multiple times? How many times? Confidence? If the shooter approached Cook to get a close target, then hitting nine others would not have been a matter of spray and pray from a distance. Perhaps anybody taking the class would have been seen as a legit target….

A single pistol bullet might kill you pretty fast. But mostly, if you die, it’s because you didn’t get appropriate medical attention in time. So multiple times to make sure and then spray the rest of the classroom until the mag was empty. They deserved it, too.

  16. Richard, the gathering was a review session for the class the professor was teaching, not a lecture, so the Professor not attending was understandable. IIRC it was being lead by a TA.

It does seem a quite a coincidence that of classes likely being taught by that Professor, or any Jewish professor, the one with the campus Republican VP in attendance was picked.

  17. David L., Your 2-for-1 idea seems possible to me. The pro-Israel leaders offend pro-hamas people, and that’s deadly.

Richard Aubrey, definitely a strong, reasonable analysis on the storyline!

  18. TJ, thanks for sharing that X by c_Aesthetics.
    Lots of very interesting points!
Brown U “leaders” quite possibly have failed their job in many awful ways.
    I hope those people pay.

  19. Yet another woke / liberal / academic coverup?

    Gosh, WHO woulda thunk it??

Keeping in mind (of course) that it ALL DEPENDS ON THE CONTEXT….

  20. Benjamin Erickson is not notably slim nor notably heavy. The authorities did not formally release his name; his name was leaked. I’m going to wager that electronic data (e.g. that generated by his room key, hotel security cameras, and devices in his vehicle) demonstrated he was that day in his room as he said and not anywhere near the Brown campus.
    ==
I’m going to wager the Brown College Republicans have fewer than 15 members and that she was the VP by default. Been there (though not recently).
    ==
This fellow Karbouche seems like a future NGO tapeworm doing his part to make the world worse. I’ll wager an audit of the life and career of his faculty patron would reveal that man to be a piece of work as well.
    ==
The videos suggest someone who is at home in his surroundings, not someone from out of town. He did not skedaddle like Luigi Mangione, but worked to be inconspicuous (and kept his COVID mask on).
    ==
I’d be interested to know if it actually is true the Brown has 800 security cameras on campus. Mighty curious to date that the video of this man was captured not by Brown’s cameras but by that of local businesses (and residents?).

  21. And “allahu akbar” sounds so much like “Mr. Goodbar”, no wonder the poor students were confused…
    (…not to mention the TA…)

  22. This is the first I am reading any of this about Kharboush or pro-Palestinian tendencies on the Brown campus. All very interesting. Particularly in view of the videos that have been shown of someone “casing” the location for several hours before the shooting. That makes targeted shooting far more likely. Perhaps one day we will know the truth, but we will not be allowed to make the link to Palestinian militants if that is indeed the case.

TJ: Interesting link. Thanks for that. I believe I have heard from law enforcement on various TV broadcasts that the shooter “emptied two 30-round magazines.” Such a magazine in a 9-millimeter pistol is a little unwieldy, as it hangs down below the pistol several inches. In any case, if he indeed shot 60 rounds inside a classroom there will understandably be collateral damage. Lots of it.

  23. I was struck this morning by an article over at Townhall where pics of Mustapha are posted. As others above have alluded, his body build matches quite well that of the person in the released videos. It now makes more sense for Brown to protect one of its own: Palestinian activist queer.

If Ella was the target, then being a conservative in academia just got a whole lot more dangerous. But the schools couldn’t care less.

  24. Christopher
Point with the prof is whether it’s reasonable, given Brown’s SOP , if any, is whether the shooter could expect the prof to be there, or not. Given the presumed motivations of our suspected shooter, a double would be great. But would he know in advance that the prof would not be there?

  25. Speaking of coverups, it appears that the most corrupt, malicious and destructive “administration” in American history is even more corrupt…than one can imagine!

Shocka! I know…but still, ya’ gotta give ‘em a whole lotta credit for shamelessness…and initiative!! (And for trying so assiduously to SUCCESSFULLY TRANSFORM screw up an entire country totally, comprehensively and completely. What verve! What panache!! OTOH, look what those august Labour/Liberal Parties—talk about “passionate intensity!! perversity”…have been able to “accomplish” in the UK, Canada and Oz!…)

  26. If the shooter really was a Muslim who shouted Allah Akbar, how many of the potential student witnesses to the shooting clammed up under questioning out of fear that the university would punish them if they “engaged in stereotypes” and suggested the perp was a Muslim? How many refused to help because they wanted to help the shooter?

After all, graduating with that Ivy League credential is much more important than justice or morality to these students. They would be willing to kill for the degree themselves, so wouldn’t think twice about helping another killer to avoid losing it.

  27. sturanche
Hadn’t thought of that. Given the Ivies’ student body, it seems quite likely .

  28. huxley
Like to hear some official responses wrt Charlie Kirk from Brown’s admin and students.
Hard to go from that to Ms. Cook as a matter of intent. But giving a person with the right sort of background a bit of slack is entirely within possibility.
Or at the very least, hoping he’s never found.

  29. I read this afternoon that the FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to arrest. Brown has offered $0.

Ella Cook was targeted; shot multiple times. Conservative students on leftist campuses are at risk of their lives if they make their beliefs known.

  30. I’m a third-generation Belarusian refugee too. My grandfather and his family were kicked out in a pogrom in 1915 when he was 7 years old.

  31. So where is Mustapha Kharbouch?

Brown authorities say they might be potentially protecting an innocent student from harassment by deleting him from the Brown website. Though they don’t admit that they did.

Too late! Savvy folks already screen-capped those pages.

But this could be settled quickly with an appearance by the mysterious queer Palestinian scholar and activist, who happens to look quite like the masked overweight figure in the released videos of the shooter walking the nearby neighborhoods.

It’s been four days and apparently no trace of the fellow. By now he could be anywhere.

Where in the world is Mustapha Kharbouch?

  32. A first guess would be he’s back in Lebanon. We do not have an extradition treaty with them.

I haven’t seen any stories about what happened to the weapon. Did the shooter leave it there? Take it with him? Dispose of it somehow?

  34. I guess CedarNews is a Lebanese website. I turned up this humorous bit in a story about finding Kharbouch:
