  1. Same source that projected scads upon scads of UK deaths from COVID?

    (Or maybe the next-door neighbour…?)

  2. Well according to some parts of the media the J6 bombing suspect is a white man also. Who knew? That dude ain’t allowed to sing like that. But then I thought Adielle was a black woman just hearing her sing. Talent isn’t necessarily melanin dependent.

  3. Yeah, those carriers are totally defenseless against CAN DO! HYPERSONIC MISSILES (or was it tofu hypnotic missives?).

There was a racist anti-semetic dude who was all in on all things CAN DO! but he got banned.

  4. To paraphrase Eliot:

…This is the way a nation ends
This is the way a nation ends
This is the way a nation ends
Not with a bang but with a gang bang. **

(An evidently state-/legal-/cultural-sanctioned series of innumerable ones, so it appears…
    IOW: POLICY.)

  5. WRT “POLICY”…
…here’s something almost unbelievable (considering the source) that’s pretty entertaining:

“Joy Reid Drops a Sane Line…and It’s Brutal Toward Merrick Garland”—
    https://instapundit.com/761756/

    (Might one wonder whether she’ll address “Biden”’s four-year-long open borders—i.e., NO borders—extravaganza?)

  6. From only listening to her on the radio as a kid, I always thought Dusty Springfield was black, especially the song “Son of a Preacher Man.” I wasn’t the only one.

She’s not just white, she’s British!

She studied and played with black musicians. She was active for civil rights and against apartheid since the 60s. She even got expelled from South Africa in 1964,

One of the greats in my book.

  7. Wargames are not about predicting outcomes. They’re about evaluating comparative advantages and disadvantages and determining what you’re missing in organizing, training and equipping forces for a specific future period. The OPFOR is typically granted near-perfect knowledge and performance. Real world performance and results rarely live up to wargaming assumptions.

Efforts to accelerate development and deployment of AI enhanced drones/counter-drones, shipbuilding, F-47, FA-XX, etc all indicate the Pentagon and contractor community recognize the many shortcomings that exist. Faster please.

  8. My wife and I saw Bobby Caldwell at a small jazz club in southern California back in 2014. He “grudgingly” sang “What You Won’t Do for Love,” but admitted that he does enjoy the royalties that come in from that song.

  9. If there is a prize for lamest hit piece on a GOP candidate, it has just been won for all time:

In 2011, Meg Van Epps (née Wrather), wife of GOP special election candidate Matt Van Epps, tweeted a link to a Yahoo News “Upshot” article titled Photos of Hitler’s Wife Stir the Web, writing: “New pictures of Hitler’s wife just surfaced. I had never thought about her before or what she must have been like.”

That’s it. That’s the bad thing she did, 14 years ago. They make sure to mention that Trump endorsed the candidate.

  10. I can remember being in very elaborate, very command interactive computer based Brigade and even Corp level exercises in the National Guard in the 1990s and early 2000 s and the OPFOR had endless amounts of troops. We were evaluated on how well we adjusted and fought till the end. A brigade was reduced to a battalion strength. Battalions reduced to companies. Companies ceased to exist. Finally they would mercifully end the exercise.

  11. Florida is taking on the transgender industrial complex

Florida ATTORNEY GENERAL JAMES UTHMEIER FILES COMPLAINT AGAINST MEDICAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR PROMOTING CHILD MUTILATION

    https://www.myfloridalegal.com/newsrelease/attorney-general-james-uthmeier-files-complaint-against-medical-organizations-promoting

The left media is studiously, avoiding mentioning this, but I think the lawsuit will have traction. These medical grifter know that their evidence for mutilating and poisoning children is very thin. Here is what the grok ai says about wpath’s evidence for their therapies

No, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) does not have strong, high-quality evidence supporting gender-affirming medical interventions (such as puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones) for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria.
WPATH’s current guidelines are the Standards of Care Version 8 (SOC-8), published in 2022. They recommend individualized gender-affirming care for youth, including puberty suppression (typically starting at Tanner stage 2) and hormones (often around age 16), but emphasize that decisions must be made case-by-case with multidisciplinary teams.
However, multiple independent systematic reviews and analyses have concluded that the evidence base for these interventions in youth is weak or very low quality. Key points include:
    • WPATH itself acknowledges in SOC-8 that the number of high-quality studies is limited, relying on observational data, expert consensus, and lower-certainty evidence rather than randomized controlled trials (which are ethically challenging in this area).
    • Independent systematic reviews (e.g., those commissioned by the UK’s Cass Review in 2024, NICE in 2020, and others in 2023–2025) consistently rate the evidence for benefits (e.g., reduced gender dysphoria, improved mental health) as low or very low certainty. They also note insufficient long-term data on risks like bone density loss, fertility impacts, or cognitive effects.
    • The Cass Review (a comprehensive independent review of youth gender care) found that WPATH’s SOC-8 overstates the strength of evidence in places, and it recommended restricting medical interventions outside research settings due to the weak evidence foundation.
    • Other countries (e.g., Sweden, Finland, Norway, and parts of the UK) have restricted or paused routine use of puberty blockers and hormones for youth for similar reasons.
WPATH and supporters (e.g., some U.S. medical organizations) argue that existing observational studies show benefits like reduced suicidality and that withholding care causes harm, while critics point to methodological issues in those studies (e.g., small samples, lack of controls, high dropout rates) and potential risks.
In summary, while WPATH promotes gender-affirming care for youth as evidence-informed, the scientific consensus from rigorous evidence reviews is that the evidence is not robust enough to support widespread use without significant caveats. This remains a highly debated and politicized topic, with ongoing calls for more high-quality research.

  12. Thanks, Neo, for keeping the open thread going — it’s always a nice place to catch up with the regulars. I’ve been buried in work/real life this week, so I’m late to the party, but it’s good to see the usual thoughtful discussion here. Hope everyone is staying warm/sane/cheerful as we head toward the holidays (or whatever seasonal struggle applies!). I’ll try to be more sociable next time instead of just lurking.

  13. Neo, have you written about National Republican Senatorial Committee v. Federal Election Commission, which Marc Elias argued before the US Supreme Court earlier this week?

  15. I caught a little of the insanity of Candace Owens surrounding suggestions people at Turning Point and insinuation about Erika herself having something to do with Charlie’s assassination.

Candace Owens is certainly the Jerry Springer of influencers. It’s sad, though adding insightful commentary on a regular basis is hard work. The fallback is apparently conspiracy theories, it doesn’t take as much talent.

  16. Obviously Bobby Caldwell is a “Black” Irishman. 🙂 Actually there is such a thing. I have some of the genetic makeup myself, although the singing trait did not come thru. During the war between GB and Spain, a number of ships of the Spanish Armada were sunk off the West Irish coast. A number of black, African sailors washed ashore and resumed life in their new home.

  17. Huxley, my brother from another mother!
I was in my 50’s before I found out that she was a white rose.
    Sounded very Motown to me.
    I feel better now.
And Trump is either a turning point or a speed bump.
