Passive voice is one of those tells that you’re to be subjected to narrative. “Vaccines are presented as almost gifts from the gods” by whom? Who is using those words? How does the know the public “swallowed this whole”–all my life there’s been neutral or even supportive media coverage of people, especially celebrities, who oppose vaccination. Who is presenting vaccines as though they have “no risks” and if they are doing so, how is he being alarmed by a list of risks of side effects he read about, where did they come from?
I have yet to see any handout on vaccines that didn’t mention risks. Your doctor will give you one, the CDC has them online, and the Federal government requires health care providers to hand them out for any of the mandated childhood vaccines.

The substance of the article was that a study shows a temporary, but very large, increased likelihood of getting shingles BETWEEN the two Shingrix shots. Reported cases are on the mild side, however. He ends by saying that, even with this new study and fuller information, he’d probably have gotten the shots anyhow.
One of my daughters got the COVID 19 shots because her employer, for whom she worked remotely, told her to get them or get fired, under pressure from the Biden administration (government contractor). She had a fairly severe reaction to the second Pfizer shot, really weak and sick for nearly two weeks. She was not given the opportunity to report side effects to the government website, or given any guidance on seeking medical assistance — as if anyone would have seen her at the time.
I am thinking Shakur is finding the afterlife unpleasantly warm.

For some reason I was led to think of the rock-paper-scissors game, and that water was not considered in the ranking of their respective “strengths”. Water eventually wears away the rock, makes the paper soggy, and rusts the scissors [let’s pretend they are not stainless steel :-)].
When I take my blood pressure or have it taken, I mentally visualize a calming creek or stream as biofeedback to keep my reading on the low side. Seems to be working, such that I become mildly concerned if I happen to obtain a given reading at the higher end of the normal range.
@ R2L – not surprisingly, there is an updated version of that old game (which I always found very useful in solving kids’ quarrels about what to do, who gets what, where to go, etc. RPS ended the fuss without me having to impose anything, unless I needed to quash one of the options).
Niketas 3:33pm – you are 99% correct but the one vaccine that *was* grossly oversold was the COVID vaccine and because of the prominence and effect of the whole COVID phenomenon that is going to negatively affect perceptions of all vaccines for decades.
