Where was the rifle when Tyler Robinson jumped off the roof? — 29 Comments

  1. I don’t know if he timed the shot but it is not hard to believe that he could have heard what was being said if they had any kind of sound system set up which I imagine they have for events that get hundreds or more people who couldn’t possibly get close enough to the stage to hear what is going on.

I’ve been to plenty of events where I have left and been walking a fair distance and could still clearly here the speakers talking.

  2. I am impressed with that drop from the roof. It’s not all *that* far, but still he could easily have broken a leg or ankle. No doubt youth is a factor, and I guess he knew, maybe just instinctively, how to land.

  3. Mac:

    Agreed.

He might have practiced beforehand, there or elsewhere.

But he was risking what happened to John Wilkes Booth when he broke his leg jumping from Lincoln’s box.

  4. But if memory serves Booth caught a foot on the bunting on the presidential box causing him to land awkwardly. Robinson hung on to the ledge and dropped straight down landing equally on both feet.

  5. Griffin:

Yes, the Booth story goes something like that.

As with Kirk, there were plenty of witnesses. No video, though.

  6. With the rifle apparently provided by others, and the roommate being cooperative, the 4th quarter of 2025 could turn very interesting.

  7. “Robinson was living with a ‘transgender partner’ ”
Since gender is imaginary, unless you can tell me the physical basis of gender, he was living with a person who believed you can change your sex by an act of will. That is impossible. The physical basis of sex is chromosomes and you can’t change your chromosomes by an act of will.

  8. Thank you for clarifying this point.
I’d only watched a low resolution video of the fleeing suspect once, and didn’t notice anything that appeared long enough to be a fully stocked rifle. The other pictures only showed a backpack, and the pants were too skinny to conceal a long rifle also. I couldn’t conceive of a take down rifle being used if a person was concerned with a timely escape and the pieces would still be too long to fit neatly into a small backpack.
I’m not a diehard conspiracy theorist, but I am a skeptic in most ways.

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/09/just-fbi-investigating-possible-accomplice-charlie-kirk-shooter/

The FBI is now investigating a potential accomplice in the assassination of Charlie Kirk amid the finding of video footage that appears to show the suspect talking to somebody through a doorbell camera in the neighborhood near the crime scene.

That’s a lousy lede, makes it sound like he is talking to someone in the house with the camera. This is nearly as opaque, but the last sentence makes better sense:

Agents are looking into footage showing Robinson, 22, talking into a doorbell camera about the murder shortly after he scampered away from the Losee Center at Utah Valley University.

The footage was turned over to the bureau by university officials themselves from security camera footage.

The Sun reported that the footage shows a man walking by the house, speaking into a cellphone about the murder

Does anybody ever copy edit anymore??

  10. Obtaining the rifle would be easy. It could be stolen. There is no requirement for a background check for private firearms transactions in Utah. The serial number on the rifle does lead to someone however. I would not want to be that someone.

  11. Yes, my husband owns a bolt action rifle for deer hunting which he bought from a friend. But assuming there’s a serial number on the assassin’s gun, it can be traced to someone at some time, and then its journey into the hands of the killer can be traced.

  12. Why so I get the feeling the facts will never be known ither than the basic we have already?
Again someone gets into position on a roof all by themselves with little preparation, help not to mention of the firearm history.

  13. Gamers.
Not to paint with too broad a brush; but it is clear that obsessed gamers are frequently divorced from reality. They are immersed in a world in which the goal is often to kill as many targets as possible, and targets are presented in various forms. At what point does it have such a dehumanizing effect that a living target is nothing more?

  14. Again someone gets into position on a roof all by themselves with little preparation, help not to mention of the firearm history.

There’s a set of stairs leading to the roof. The interesting question is why he did not use them to get down.

  15. “There’s a set of stairs leading to the roof. The interesting question is why he did not use them to get down.”

That’s easy. His position would be revealed by taking the shot, and the logical assumption is law enforcement would be coming up the stairs.

He just took the path least likely to be subject to law enforcement interception.

  16. The rifle is old, and FFLs are only required to keep a record 20 years. Also in most states it can be legally sold between private parties. I doubt there is even a reason to trace it, it was probably first sold years before the killer was born.

  17. The rifle was handed off to somebody when he reached the corner of the building. It looks like the person is in the trees because the butt of the rifle is seen going up into the trees. He hands it to somebody then turns to climb off the roof. Or somebody is on a ladder on the side of the building that we can’t see. Is possibly pretending to be maintenance worker. But he definitely handed something to someone.

  18. Neo & Tim – the building has glass all around since you can see the walkway and tree trunks, although a bit distorted. I think what Tim is seeing is a shadow of the person or bag.

We know that the gun was the grandfather’s and possibly given as a gift.

I’m not sure why there was a screwdriver left on the roof, unless to tighten the scope. The killer mentioned that he thought that he did not leave any evidence, but he obviously forgot about DNA and prints being left on a variety of places. I suspect that every place the person was seen touching something, the FBI have been there taking samples to prove he was the person in the recording.

  19. The gun isn’t why he had a limp. I saw a video of him walking in a neighborhood and he had the limp then. If it was in his pants when he jumped off the roof how did he bend his legs when impacting the ground. A rifle that large is 4-5 feet long so it would have to be in his shirt also. No way this whole thing is staged

  20. Ron:

Pay attention to when videos were taken, and also to what I said in the post. There re no videos of him limping after the shooting. I don’t say he had the gun in his pants after the shooting. He’s carrying it wrapped in a towel, and you can see him dragging something long and then as he jumps and then as he runs (and later walks) after his jump.

  22. It appears that a Mauser 98 bolt action rifle was recovered from the area. I did a search and it appears that it was 142 yards or 130 meters from the rooftop to Charlie Kirk. It appears that the weapon was old and not in great condition. I question the skill/talent of Tyler Robinsin to hit Charlie Kirk’s neck with 1 shot with that OLD bolt action rifle?? It appears he wanted to do this. I’m not willing to automatically accept that Tyler killed Charlie. How much practice did he have with the rifle? Am I the only person to question the skill of Tyler to hit the target?

  23. Mike:

Doesn’t take much skill, according to everyone but conspiracy theorists spreading illogical theories. Were did you read the weapon wasn’t in good condition? I read, among other things, that it had a very good scope and that made the shot easy-peasy.

Lots of photos of Tyler on the roof. Lying prone in shooting position, running across the roof, dropping down from the roof carrying the gun, fingerprints on the gun, etc. etc. .

    Give it up.
