Breaking story: Charlie Kirk shot at Utah event [with UPDATES]
There are few details as yet on this story, but it sounds bad:
Charlie Kirk was shot at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on Wednesday.
Bystanders report seeing Kirk shot near his neck during a Q&A with students.
A suspect is in custody, according to a UVU alert sent to students. The campus has been evacuated.
“A single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker. Police are investigating now, suspect in custody,” an alert from UVU said.
An older man was arrested and taken into police custody.
No metal detectors?
I’m not sure how old an “older man” would be, on a college campus.
Some reports say Kirk was shot in the neck, not just “near” his neck. I assume more information will be coming out shortly. In case you’re not familiar with Kirk, he’s a conservative who goes to college campuses and debates students and others on various issues; there are many YouTube videos of him doing this.
If you’re the praying type, now would be a good time.
UPDATE 3:45 PM: I still haven’t seen any reports on his condition. But, looking at the comments here, if they’re correct it sounds very very bad.
UPDATE 4:05 PM: This AP article says he’s in critical condition. That’s better than dead, but not at all good.

Reports from Fox News say the shooter is a 65? 68? yo man who’s a member of the Democrat Party.
Tim Poole reports (but unconfirmed) that Kirk is in stablized condition at Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah.
John Solomon at JustTheNews, and reporter Ben Whedon says that Charlie Kirk is dead, three officials confirm.

Might not be wise to share minute-by-minute things we hear. Tough as it is to wait, it’s probably more sensible to do so.
