The reports of Trump’s death were greatly exaggerated
The left so badly wants Trump to die.
Did I say “the left”? It’s not limited just to them. Ever since Trump took office, I’ve heard random friends, acquaintances, and/or relatives wish fervently for his death and praise those who would accomplish it, and none of these people are on the left although they do consistently vote for Democrats. Yes, you might quibble with my definition of “on the left” and say that anyone who votes for Democrats these days is on the left. But I’m referring to what these Democrats would say if you were to quiz them on their beliefs about public policy and the like; those beliefs would bear more resemblance to what one might call “liberal” than leftism.
For example, just on the trans issue, the two or three people I’ve spoken to about this are profoundly ignorant of the facts, and shocked and disturbed to hear them from me. However, because they are firmly convinced that Trump is a profoundly and uniquely evil and despicable person, they will always vote against him and anyone who supports him. My own support for Trump is grandfathered in, as it were, with those who continue to speak to me and haven’t cut me off.
So this sort of thing is no surprise:
The NYT’s Trump story should be that the Far Left is spreading baseless theories about his death. Instead, the story lays out all the “evidence” for why people were right to speculate about it.
And speculate they did, rumors spreading until Trump rained on their parade by appearing, hale and hearty. And these are of course the same people who never noticed how feeble Biden had become, a process that had begun even before he took office although it continued to get worse for his entire term.
I get tired of saying “no surprise,” but it’s no surprise. Most people’s minds are shaped by the things they read and the company they keep. And wish fulfillment fantasies are rife, based on their beliefs.
If you truly believe that a person is purely evil, then it makes it OK to openly wish for their death. It even feels good to do so. Obviously many lifelong Democrats are certain that Trump is evil. They have faith in the righteousness of their beliefs. After all, Leftism has many of the hallmarks of a religion. Trying to empirically reason with such people is often as difficult as trying to convert someone away from a faith.

Unfortunately, these people, with their ignorant hate, can’t seem to understand how the rest of us see them or what it might mean should Trump be murdered and they are unable to contain their glee.

As repugnant as the Biden presidency was I never heard any of my conservative friends wish for Biden’s death. I’ve come to believe that those on the right are the only people who believe in promise and ideals of America.

Had they a lick of sense, they’d be praying that Trump lives through the 2025 election. As J.D. Vance would assume the Presidency and he just might take Trump’s wrecking ball to a whole new level… As Vance has shown some signs of being a conservative whose positions are based upon reasoned principles. A circumstance far more dangerous for the left than Trump’s vacillating gut. Vance also showed firm resolve when he confronted a room full of Europeans on their repression of their citizen’s speech and disagreement. It took guts when right to their faces he compared them to the Soviets.

Sometimes they get together and pass bipartisan legislation. Then you get law that is both stupid and evil.
Cicero (3:57 pm) begins a comment with “When 54% of Americans cannot read with comprehension above the 6th grade level . . . .” Even if the figure were 100% reading at the high school graduate level, we cannot overlook exactly *what* those 100% would be reading. Y’all know the rest.
One can say “It looks like rain.” without wishing for rain, far less making it rain.
It doesn’t take a weatherman to say it looks like rain, and it doesn’t take a doctor to see that Trump’s declining. The bruises on his hands (poorly covered by make up), his swollen ankles, his inability to walk a straight line, his forgetting the name of the Atlantic Ocean (??!!) all point to it. The rain is coming: the only decision is where to seek shelter or get soaked.

Swollen ankles are most likely varicose veins and/or blood pressure meds, which commonly cause such things. His energy is incredible for someone of any age, much less his age. A bruise on the hand can have any number of innocuous causes. And since he speaks an enormous amount publicly, under scrutiny, he will make a small error now and then – as would anyone. He seems exceedingly sharp to me.
Plus, as I described in my post, enormous numbers of Democrats have been wishing him dead ever since the election of 2016. Fervently wishing him dead.
That said, he of course is not immortal and anything can happen to anyone at any time, especially when older. But I don’t see anything of concern at this point.
I mentioned a couple of days ago that one of our neighbors flies a flag declaring “86 47” — I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they believe it only means “stop the President” without being aware that “86” is Mafia slang for “kill.”
Obviously, you can’t be sure about that.

It’s hard to say.
Another neighbor usually has Democrat signs in his yard, along with “support the union” placards (no idea which union), and flies his flag at half-mast since the election; I know he supported Obama.
There are a couple of the Woke Catechism signs around the nearby streets.
Others have had Trump signs and also fly flags, so the latter aren’t always a guaranteed marker.
Most of us are layin’ low.
In my experience “86” has meant ejecting someone from a bar so it doesn’t automatically mean kill. More disturbing is the unmistakable disappointment on the part of many Democrats that the assassination attempts on Trump did not succeed.
