Mask bans for rioters
Nowadays cameras are ubiquitous, and with modern technology it becomes relatively easy to track down perpetrators. That’s why the mask has become a fashion item for rioters.

New York first banned masks in the 1840s in response to protesters harassing landlords. Later, in the 20th century, states prohibited face coverings to address the depredations of the KKK.
The bans were either not enforced or repealed during covid. Masks went from being a symbol of outlaw behavior to becoming the sine qua non of good citizenship according to Dr. Fauci and other public-health authorities.
My question is this: how can a mask ban be enforced, when a huge group of rioters wear them? Arrest everyone who’s wearing one during a demonstration? Would the mask-wearer need to be violent and already committing another crime? If so, why not just arrest the person for that crime rather than mask-wearing? Would these laws actually deter people from wearing masks? I tend to doubt it.
Some California lawmakers propose an interesting twist on the matter:
A proposed California bill could make it a misdemeanor for local, state, and federal law enforcement officers to wear masks or any other personal disguise to conceal their identity while interacting with the public while on duty in the state. …
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security responded [this way] …
“While ICE officers are being assaulted by rioters, a sanctuary politician is trying to outlaw officers wearing masks to protect themselves from being doxed and targeted by known and suspected terrorist sympathizers,” the post said. “Not only is our ICE law enforcement facing a more than 400 percent increase in assaults, but we’ve also seen thugs launch websites to reveal ICE officers’ identities.”
Hose ’em down with indelible dye, then pick them off for detention at leisure should criminal actions be determined.
As the joke went there was a time in 2020 where if you wore a mask into a bank one day they would call the police and then if you didn’t wear a mask into a bank the next day they would call the police.
The Covid response has so warped everything to do with masks that I don’t know how they could ever enforce anything.

It’s not too infrequently the case I imagine hosing them down with a GAU-8.
I’ve noticed everyday masks back in Abq. It’s not Covid. The Air Quality Index has hit Moderate.
“Sensitive individuals should remain indoors, or wear an N95/KF94 mask outdoors.”
Must be why my eyes have been particularly itchy lately.
If you can smell the smoke through the mask, it isn’t protecting you.

Yes to Q #1, arrest them all. Book them, mug shots, ID.
Find out from where they are getting money.
Maybe mass arrests would require more National Guard. Might increase sympathy for the protesters, more likely increase respect and support for Trump and the governor who more firmly handles the riot, and imposes at least the cost of arrest on the mask wearing protesters.
The riot police should use safe paintball guns to fire at any who riot, leaving paint to track those ones down.
Maybe this is something that legislators could do for the people they supposedly serve: Pass laws that (a) give law enforcement the authority to declare a condition of civil unrest and (b) make it a felony offense to be wearing a mask on the occasion when it is so declared. Include funding for drones with cameras, and supplies of stink juice and dye.
It’s not an unsolvable problem, it’s just that very often civic leaders are the ones telling police to stand down and stand by, when the police really should have the ability to take action and honor their remit. We certainly see in this in the Pacific Northwest, we saw it in Charlottesville, and we saw it in L.A. a couple of weeks ago.
During Reconstruction there was a Democrat organization, the KKK, that wore masks. Consequently wearing masks while acting as a part of a mob or unlawful organization, not just as a criminal individual, has long been recognized as illegal.
Democrats doing what Democrats do.

The problem is that communists, aka Democrats, have infiltrated and subverted all our institutions. And they are elected in Democrat areas by fools of all kinds, including the well educated, successful and “intelligent” ones.
Arrest them and book them.
