Legal whiplash on the National Guard and Trump — 9 Comments

  1. Significant because the Ninth Circuit has long been hostile territory for Republicans and Conservatives.

  2. Another judge ruled that valid can’t be required to vote. They really don’t believe in the rule of law, do they

  3. Luckily, this doesn’t stop at the 9th Circuit. Trump’s team obviously are prepared to seek emergency relief all the way to the top.

On the other hand, if the stay expires, it will be interesting to see what Newsom does with the National Guard once control of it reverts to him. Continue letting them protect federal buildings and agents? Or withdraw them and let L.A. be engulfed in riots and looting? Neither will look good for him now that there’s a baseline exhibited by the NG’s presence to date. What he really needed was for them never to be there in the first place, but that option can’t be retrieved.

  4. In a country of over 300 million people, it is obscene that the brother of a (now former) SCOTUS justice is a federal judge.

  5. He never lost the power. The power comes with the office. The judge is a moron.

  6. Seems to be no penalties for a Commissar Judge to weigh in on any ruling then get slapped down much later after their damage is done.

  7. Trump is playing it smart – not defying courts, but making appeals. And winning. So the Dems fail to gain a footing to label him above the law, and allow him to establish precedents that he is acting within it.

What legal genius came up with this strategy… Obama?
