  1. David Horowitz was the first “changer” that caught my interest. It’s a pity he is gone.
    ________

I’ve been meeting many ladies in my new post marriage life. One of my better friends is recently separated and enjoying music and her new freedoms. It was many months into our friendship that I overheard her speaking to another lady about triplets. Later, I asked, “Triplets?” Yes, she said. I was a bit famous for a time, giving birth to three sons.

She described her shock when she got the news. Since fertility treatments were involved, they were monitoring her hormone levels precisely which can indicate the number of fetuses long before they can imaged.

  2. David Horowitz has a potent change story indeed:
    ________________________________________

In 1974 I [Horowitz] began a new project with the Black Panther Party, which the New Left had identified in the Sixties as the “vanguard of the revolution.” I raised the funds to create a “Community Learning Center” for the Panthers in the heart of the East Oakland ghetto. The Center provided schooling and free meals to 150 children, and community services to an even larger number of adults. The following year the woman I had hired as a bookkeeper for the Center was kidnapped, sexually tormented, and then brutally murdered by my Black Panther comrades.

When I first discovered what had happened, I was paralyzed with fear, a fear that grew as I learned about other murders and violent crimes the Panthers had committed—all without retribution from the law.

In the eyes of the left, the Panthers were what they always had been: an embodiment of the progressive idea. To defend them against the “fascist” attacks of the police was a radical’s first responsibility and task.

In reality the Panthers were a criminal gang that preyed on the black ghetto itself.

    ________________________________________

When David Mamet renounced the left, he titled his exit piece, “Why I Am No Longer a ‘Brain-Dead Liberal.”

David Horowitz dedicated his later life to opposing the left. He fought bravely and effectively. The left, then the jihadists, hated him. He was a lion.

    RIP

  3. RIP David Horowitz. Among his many other services, he was the creator and host of “Discover the Networks”, an indispensable online guide to the left-wing dark-money network and left-wing “activists”:

“A project of the David Horowitz Freedom Center”. Glad he lived long enough to see Trump’s victory and the beginning of the years-long job of purging (and I use that word deliberately) the Left from the federal government and our institutions. I hear that half the lawyers in the DOJ Civil Rights Division have quit. Good. It’s a start.

  4. sdferr:

Thanks for the link and the shout-out, bro. Not incidentally I was out in the field last week herding sheep with my border collie bitch, Billie. Great fun!

  5. Will Canada’s leftward direction make it more attractive as an emigration destination for USA left-wingers?

  6. Dax:

Long ago, Canada was where British sympathizers went after our Revolution. Then, starting in the Vietnam draft era, it was where men went to avoid the draft. In recent years, some people I know who hate Trump have been mentioning it as a getaway place since Trump’s first term.

  7. So, several more Dem judges usurped the Executive Branch. Freedom a radical Hamas sympathizer, and other ordered local police not to cooperate with ICE.
    Roberts is riding a Tiger.

  8. @neo:In recent years, some people I know who hate Trump have been mentioning it as a getaway place since Trump’s first term.

Only if they don’t need to work, and have a lot of money. Canada does not make it easy for foreigners to work, they do not want anyone who competes with Canadian workers (usually there has to be positive finding on the expensive and slow Labor Market Impact Assessment), they do not want older people and most things are generally more expensive than in the US.

(My Trump-hating mother changed her mind when she found out the wait times for the specialists she’d need to see.)

It’s much easier to SAY you want to move to Canada than to learn about and jump through all the necessary hoops. It does not sound as though your Trump-hating acquaintances have any serious intentions, since they’ve been saying it for so long and are evidently still here, but when people I know say stuff like that I ask them, have you actually tried to understand what you would need to do to get into Canada and what it would be like to really live there, and they never have.

  9. @ miguel – thanks for the link to Martin Gurri’s City Journal article about his evolving opinion of Trump as a man, politician, and president. It was very insightful.

Also, the Coffee & Covid post had a lot more information than just “the rest of the story” about the infant “deported American citizen.”

As usual, it’s a given that the Regime Media will leave out anything that reflects favorably, or even less negatively, on Trump’s administration (and conservatives in general).

“Your roundup today includes: it took some work, but we disassembed the latest immigration sob story and discover the ugly baby underneath, along with the media’s infantile lying and dissembling; key Trump U.S. Attorney announces new election integrity task force with mid-term primaries right around the corner; Florida announces special office dedicated to enforcing parental rights; and long-overdue, top-to-bottom restructuring coming for the State Department and the world lets out a sigh of relief.”

  10. Re emigration to Canada, thanks for your replies, Neo and Niketas (sounds like a folk music duo).
I actually had an acquaintance who went to Canada to avoid the Vietnam War draft. I lost track of him after that. And an older relative told me that some of our ancestors were Loyalists and left the USA for Canada. I’m not sure of the accuracy of that, however.

My original comment was wishcasting, because I think the USA would be better off without these haters.

  11. RE: Newly minted “Astronaut” Katy Perry’s “trip” to space–

There has been a lot of mockery, see the link below, but I particularly like #5 where someone found a video of a crane moving a rented construction site toilet that is spinning as it is being lowered.*
