From time to time, somebody will say the Black Death might have been the cause of the Little Ice Age.
Figure twenty to eighty million people no longer burning…say, a pound of wood a day. That amount of wood in tree equivalents not being cut down. The agricultural land not necessary to feed them going back to forest.
Nobody tell Bill Gates.
FBI under Kash Patel has arrested Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan for obstructing an immigration arrest.
Patel: “We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest.”
Historical researchers studying survivors of the plague, particularly a town that was completely isolated and quarantined. Not everyone died. Some got the disease, but recovered. A few never even got sick despite caring for many of the dying. A study of the descendants from that town showed a highly disproportionate occurrence of a rare gene mutation. Medical researchers then took over and found that a single copy of this mutated gene makes the plague much less lethal (this was unknown until this research) and a double copy (inherited from both parents) makes one immune entirely.
Fast forward a few hundred years to San Francisco in the 1980’s. Stories begin to emerge of gay men who had had multiple partners die from AIDS who never came down with the disease themselves. A doctor who had knowledge of this plague story (a medical curiosity) tests some of these men. All had a double copy of this mutated gene.

Yes! I find Neil deGrasse Tyson one of the most obnoxious “public intellectuals” around these days. Such a third-rate mind, so happy to lecture the rest of us.
How many people know that they have dug up corpses in Europe to find the original black plague virus and play with it in a lab. Even Isaac Newton couldn’t go to London or college because of a recurrence in the 17th century.
In addition “scientists” have done the same thing with the Spanish Flu. To find out about its virulence and help find a cure, of course.
Fun times down the road from the Fauci, Daszak, Baric and (The Bat Lady – Shi Zhengli) types, funded by the US and other governments.

That video is sloppy in several respects, but that is typical with Medieval history. E.g., the plague simply DID NOT begin the decline of serfdom. By the time King John lost it, there were no serfs left in Normandy, for instance. That’s a century and a half earlier. You’d think the maker of the vid might have noticed that, if they were all serfs, the issue of wages wouldn’t have arisen. Oops.*
It also overlooks the fact that there was a great expansion in the 12th and 13th Cs, while the early (pre-plague) 14th featured poor harvests. The European population was probably already less healthy than it had been, when the plague hit.
Another point is that, while the miasma theory was strictly incorrect, it did correlate with leading to healthy practice. This is similar to the theory that any fresh food worked against scurvy. Those who bought it did better than those who rejected it, though it was not exactly correct.
*(There is some connection, though not vast. Since the number of days a serf had to work was set, fewer people might have forced the barons to hire people to make up the difference. But there was also much less demand for the food they would have grown.)
@ Eeyore: I think parts of your clarifying comments are an example of my assertion that you have to know history to learn history. Possibly an iterative and basically never ending process.
Now, if we could get them to drop the “Xth century” designations and replace them with 100’s designations instead: So 16th century becomes the 1500’s, or the early, or mid, or late 1500’s, etc. I don’t like to continually make that mental numerical adjustment. Maybe that is just me.
R2L,
BC or BCE also. I prefer Holocene Epoch dating where this year is 12025 for BC stuff so larger numbers are later. Instead of the Gallic Wars starting in 58BC and Caesar killed in 44BC you get
Gallic Wars 9943
Caesar crosses Rubicon 9952
Caesar killed ‘57
Philippi ‘59
Actium ‘70
Caesar Augustus’74
Tiberius ‘14 (10014)
@R2L, @ChasesEagles: The Republic of San Marino dates from the (legendary) founding of the Republic, so you have to add 301 to their year. So in San Marino right now it is the year 1724; monuments are occasionally confusing if this is not kept in mind. The United States did something similar briefly, so that 1776 was Year 1 of the Republic, and so did the First French Republic.
Radiocarbon dating is year BP, (“before present”, which is eternally 1950). After 1950 nuclear weapons testing screws dating up. And it would I guess be negative for any year after 1950.
RE: Fauci–
The more I learn, the more Fauci appears to be the central mover/conductor in the whole COVID coverup, and governmental response while reportedly, during the course of all this catastrophe, somehow managing to double his net worth.
If one of our enemies–say, for instance, China–wanted to deliver a major blow against the U.S., COVID and how the response to it was handled by our Federal government, by various state and local governments, by our health and medical authorities, by the scientific community, and by our vaunted MSM–would be it.
Moreover, aside from the loss of life and other chaos and destruction, one side effect was that these “authorities”–especially many of our public health, medical, and scientific authorities–managed to severely damage or destroy any credibility they might have had.
