Now this is an extraordinary statement from Vivek Ramaswami who, in a speech to what appears to be the Republican Jewish Coalition, says, if Israel wants to destroy every terrorist organization, if Israel wants to kill the leaders of each and every one of these organizations, they should do it, that is their decision.
Ramaswami goes on to say that Israel should abandon the “two state solution,” and that the nations of the Arab world should absorb the “Palestinians.”
Moreover, that the Israelis should put the heads of 100 Hamas leaders on pikes along the border with Gaza, facing inward, to insure that another October 7th never happens again.*
Seeing this clip I wonder, is this what he actually said, or, is this some sort of deep fake?
Update on an earlier prediction for the DEMs 2028 presidential candidate – AOC (AKA Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez).
With Pelosi working against her in the background, AOC lost the coveted House Oversight Committee’s DEM leader slot (?) to an old white man—Gerry Connolly. That was back in December, and I thought she had lost here chance for a presidential run in 2028. BTW, am clearly no expert on these committee slots, but read where it was for the minority leadership position (?).
At that time she was told that she couldn’t get on Energy and Commerce Committee (a committee she has been trying to get on for about “six years”) – ‘that she wouldn’t get on the committee if she lost her bid to lead Democrats on the Oversight Committee’.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) scored a big win this week after suffering a stinging defeat in December.
This week she won a coveted, competitive seat on the Energy and Commerce Committee. It’s a committee position she has wanted since she entered Congress six years ago.
.. But winning the slot is a big boost of confidence from leadership who told her that she wouldn’t get on the committee if she lost her bid to lead Democrats on the Oversight Committee.
.. She is among the most well-known Democrats and boasts a large and loyal following, but has struggled to leverage her national prominence inside the Capitol. Some lawmakers are still resentful of her past divisive tactics. Others harbor jealousy of the attention she receives. Some Democrats are grumbling that she was given a competitive E&C committee spot.
.. The next phase of Ocasio-Cortez’s career — which many expect could include her potentially running for Senate, governor or even president…
Hard worker. Fetterman could be her strongest competitor for DEM presidential candidate in 2028…
It is frightening to think about an AOC president. Just have to watch her next move.
Chuck Schumer is 74, so young by Senate standards. I kind of think she might run for Govenor of NY. That could possibly expand her power base. On the other hand it could also spell her political demise if she does a bad job of it.
In any case, she is very ambitious.
AOC is a joke. There’s even less to her than to Kamala Harris. She was never anything but media hype and a puppet of someone bigger that plucked her from obscurity to role-play as a politician.
In each one of our countries it’s really the current mindset, the “Zeitgeist”–”the spirit of the Age”–how we view the world, our place in it, and what we consider important–that’s key–see China, see Japan, see Taiwan, see the U.S., and plot just one factor alone, birth rates.
The Zeitgeist of a formerly successful country or civilization loses it’s force, becomes out of favor, people turn their attentions to other things, the “spirit of the Age” devolves, and so does that country or civilization.
It would seem that, as a guiding force, a Zeitgeist which leads to success–especially long lasting success–for a country or even a civilization, is becoming more and more of a rarity these days.
For every example of a thing which seems to be doing well, it seems like there are two or three other things which aren’t, and reviving a failing, unsuccessful Zeitgeist looks to be an extremely hard thing to do.
Let’s hope that “the Donald” can do the trick.
P.S . I also think that Elon Musk will very likely be a pivotal figure as well, with his innovations and, in particular, his drive to get us humans off of our one, very vulnerable planet, and out into our solar system, leading ultimately–as the decades and centuries roll on–to our exploration of other solar systems, and out into the Galaxy.
Just saw a recent interview with Musk about his predictions for the future of technology, and what he said reminded me of the amazing breadth of his various ventures.
Tesla cars and energy systems, Starlink communication satellites, SpaceX and SpaceX commercial satellite launch capabilities, Neurolink, Optimus humanoid robots, high tech low cost housing units, new Tesla brand TVs and IPhones, even a company which has developed a gigantic boring machine, one of which is currently boring the holes for subway and other systems.
Diet (e.g. animal fats and proteins), with supplements (e.g. Vitamin D), environmentally isolated energy production, and the intellectual lights remain on well past the time of the solar panels and convection currents have reached peak viability.
I believe AOC was elected and re-elected due to the majority of minorities (Hispanics and blacks) who populate NYC. She loves the limelight, but is an airhead, like her ignorant voters, who lap up her nonsense and absurd posturing.
Yeah, I can’t imagine AOC is likely to get very far in a presidential campaign. While she may garner a lot of attention due to her general stupidity and social media footprint, her actual appeal is limited to a somewhat narrow set of hard left and youthfully ignorant fans. She has absolutely no mainstream voter appeal and it’s unlikely that she’s savy enough to moderate her positions in any kind of believeable way. She’s never demonstrated the kind of cunning and dissembly required for a Lefty to ascend any farther in politics than she already has.
P.S. Forgot to mention Musk’s development of what is supposedly today’s most capable AI.

Cicero:
I don’t disagree exactly, but I do give AOC credit for cunning. She’s gone awfully far in not much time for an airhead.
The one thing AOC was partly right about was opposing special tax deals for large corporations like Amazon to move to an area. All the old business have to pay property taxes, so why should the new guy get a a break?
Texas counties are known to do the same thing. Give a company several years of no or reduced property taxes just to set up shop. Meanwhile, next door, the old companies are paying business personal property taxes on machinery , tools, office computers, etc and real estate property taxes and face stiff penalties for filling late and asset seizure if they refuse to pay .

Someone is confused. “Bob’s your uncle” in British-English means something like “and there you go” not “I’m confusing you.”
I understand translating idioms is treacherous, but it’s like the translator didn’t try or didn’t know that he should.
That said, this translator is better than the guy who presumed to translate Wolfe’s “The Electric Kool-Aid Test” into French. Hopeless. I gave up on that one.
huxley,
I can’t even imagine how 90+% of Tom Wolfe’s writing could be translated into a foreign language.
“Talking about art is like dancing about architecture.” Wolfe’s writing is art and needs to be experienced in its original form.
huxley,
It’s funny you mention “The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.” Today I handled a thorny issue with a client and a co-worker was impressed. I thought to myself, “It’s just what I learned from Ken Kesey when I read Wolfe’s book at the age of 16, ‘Feed the hungry bee.'”
