The video is good stuff, but doesn’t go down the rabbit hole far at all. For instance, not only does ice cream melt under the hot lights of a photo shoot, but so do ice cubes.
Hmm…so what about all those liquor ads showing frosty delicious iced alcoholic beverages? Yes, those glorious ice cubes with all the intriguing blurry reflections are painted in by an artist.
But with what, exactly?
Well, check out this old Gilbey’s vodka ad and see what you think:
Sublminal ads became a hobby of mine back in the 70s after I read “Subliminal Seduction” by Wilson Bryan Key, Ph.D. I found plenty of examples on my own
I’ve argued it with advertising professionals, who start out sneering, then leave in a huff when I show them examples they can’t explain.
From checking the web recently, it seems there is a limited hang-out route happening with subliminals, like conceding that the A-Z arrow in the Amazon logo is subliminal or the TiT iin Tostitos.
It’s a fun hobby. I can put links to images on my Google drive for examples if anyone is interested.
Almost forgot that I put up several of my subliminal examples on Imgur an image-sharing website. You may see them here:

Will Trump-ules be able to clean up / clear out the Augean Stables?
One must dearly hope so….
(Will he even be given the chance?…. To be sure, “Biden” still has 19 days left to TOTALLY screw up the country…)
The fun thing about subliminal advertising is that, once you do your homework, it’s a secret hidden in plain sight. A conspiracy, if you will.
Meanwhile, our authorities in government and academia, if they bother, deny the issue and denounce anyone who calls out the emperor for nakedness.
But in 2025 we’ve seen the deny and denounce strategy played out often enough that it shouldn’t be a surprise.
Of course, subliminal advertising isn’t a burning issue like, say, election fraud. It’s just interesting and fun if you’re in the mood.
There was a question a couple,of days ago about scaups. The scaups are only here for about 8 weeks or so in the winter and they are not here every day. They are here today. There are about 150 mixed greater and lesser scaups. Normally they don’t come close but today they only about 10-30 yards away. They are feeding on sand shrimp and escargot but I think they are also hiding from an eagle by using my house to block his line of sight. I last identified the wounded bird on the 29th.
With Ukraine facing a new incoming administration whilst the historically renown bully Russia continues to pummel them – my thoughts turned to a site normally avoided due to it’s negative reporting on Ukraine.
Once a cautionary tale, this phrase now rings prophetic. Of course, calling Ukraine’s army a “small Soviet army” oversimplifies the issue – neither Russia’s nor Ukrainian military is truly Soviet in the broad sense, but both have inherited the Soviet military’s systemic flaws. For Ukraine, decades of neglect, underfunding, lack of military prestige, and compounding socio-economic problems have exacerbated these problems. Only a large-scale demanding society-wide mobilization has laid these issues bare.
*IF* Ukraine is allowed to fall into Russia’s hands once again, then I suspect that history will show such as one of the biggest (if not the biggest) mistakes ever made by America. Europe? Sure, Europe also, but such mistakes are basically the Modus Operandi of Europe.
Long but interesting read…
Chases Eagles, thanks for that about the scaups! That was me.
Here is a horrendous story out of the UK, which more and more people need to be aware of, the Pakistani grooming gang which, over the course of 1997-2013, groomed, raped, and sexually assaulted 1,500 young girls–some reportedly as young as 11–and passed them around among themselves in Rotherdam. There are also other, similar cases, Oxford, for instance, when it was 400 girls.
It was apparently an open secret that this horrific grooming, rape, and sexual exploitation was going on, the authorities knew about it, but did nothing about it, for fear of being seen as “racist.”
Reportedly Police not only ignoring the evidence when it was presented to them, but even going so far as to arrest fathers when they tried to rescue their daughters.
All the perps need to be given life sentences, and every civilian and police official, every politician who looked the other way ought to be sacked and prosecuted.*
You want a glaring example of institutional cowardice, the devolution and destruction of traditional England, and how multiculturalism and political correctness have driven a stake through it’s heart, here it is.
Here’s a story in the Atlantic which talks about how self checkout is failing.
The story minimizes crime as merely being only one of the reasons for this failure, but if Youtube is any indication, just breezing by the self checkout kiosk with a boat load of un-paid for stolen merchandise, and heading for the exit, “skip-scanning” i.e. you scan the cheap items but don’t scan the expensive ones, or switching bar code tags are extremely common forms of theft.
Yeah, there are all sorts of other reasons for the failure of this “experiment,” but given the level of disregard for the law, and criminality–casual or professional–these days, it was never really going to work.*
P.S.–If you look at some of these Youtube videos about theft at retail/bigbox stores, a lot of the younger thieves appear/profess to have convinced themselves that, what they are doing is not really theft i.e. the store somehow “deserved it,” or, their insurance would pay for it, so, no big deal.
Moreover, since they are “young,” they sometimes argue that they should be let off, and released without any charges.

I recommend starting with this one — the ad from Key’s book which convinced me that something was up with subliminal advertising.

I was mostly ridiculed by the usual trolls with no counter-arguments to make. A few people got it, though.

huxley, those two (posted at 3:49 p.m.) work for me. Your first one, at 3:29 p.m., gave me the “Zoinks!” page.
I don’t need convincing about manipulative images in advertising.
