Van Jones has the funniest and most honest Democrat take on the election — 17 Comments

  1. I promised myself I would try not to watch too many of the various Dem meltdown compilations that have been appearing all over the place since the election. I just can’t help but feel embarrased for them. Yes, I realize that they’ve been insufferable jackasses for the past 4 years. But watching Jimmy Kimmel blubber or some idiot shave her head on Tiktok might be pretty funny at first, it also makes me wonder about how derranged people have become.

I do find it strange that certain people are so performative in their grief. When I lose I or when I’m frustrated or depressed or angry, the last thing I want to do is share that with the world. I guess in Van Jone’s case it is his actual job to opine about such things, and I’m sure that sometimes it can be emotional. But it strikes me as weird that people like him seem to be so willing to be so vulnerable

  2. Breaking news: Trump has just nominated Matt Gaetz as Attorney General. Yeah, that Matt Gaetz, with the ethics probe hanging over his head.

My quick reaction is that Trump did this knowing Gaetz would not be confirmed, would withdraw his name (after resigning his House seat) and would be outta the way.

Other than that, I got nothing. This was a real surprise.

  3. [Copied from “Two election night videos”]

Weirdly, I am becoming fond of Van Jones, the short-lived Green Jobs Czar for Obama, lately a CNN commentator.

Sure, I don’t agree with Jones on just about any policy, but he is refreshingly honest for his ilk:
    _______________________________________________

I’m miserable. What do you want me to say? This is terrible. Nobody thought we would have undivided government. We thought if Trump snuck in there, we would at least have Hakeem Jeffries standing in the way to try to save it….

This is just a horrible weekend … Don’t ask me any questions. It might make me burst into tears. This is horrible.

[We Democrats need] therapy. Therapy. We are all going to therapy.

Why are we here? If you are a Democrat, all we can say is, We hope that Susie [Trump’s Chief of Staff] decides to take a vacation and they hire some terrible people to make some mistakes to give us a chance. Right now, they have everything [the Electoral College, the national popular vote, the Supreme Court, the White House, and both houses of Congress].

And we’re just sitting here with a dunce cap on. At this time last week, we thought we were the smartest people in the world. We thought Donald Trump was an idiot. We thought his campaign made no sense. And it turned out they were smarter than us and we don’t have anything to say.

I just sit here, pretend I know something. Here’s what I know, everybody I know is miserable. Everybody is on these Zoom calls. Nobody’s got any good ideas and it’s really going to take us a while to figure this out.

We got whooped. We got whooped, and we did not understand that.

Devastating, but true, and Van Jones is willing to admit it.

  4. While I don’t agree with Van Jones’s politics, I like that he has long been one of the few lefty “commentators” who doesn’t always spout the party line.
I am not going to bother to find other examples, but I have a vague memory of them.

  5. [Van Jones] has long been one of the few lefty “commentators” who doesn’t always spout the party line.

    Gringo:

Ruy Teixeira and James Carville also come to mind.

And dear departed Pat Caddell, who was a whiz kid advisor on McGovern’s 1972 campaign, but was also an old-school Democrat who ended up backing and advising Trump’s 2016 campaign.

    RIP Patrick Caddell (1950-2019)

PS. Weird, wonderful item from wiki I did not know:
    _______________________________

After Harvard informed [Caddell] that he would not graduate without passing a swimming test, Caddell hastily arranged a swimming test in a California hotel pool. Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson was his coach and renowned political journalist Theodore H. White, who was a member of the Harvard Board of Overseers, served as the judge. Caddell graduated from Harvard University in 1972.

    Ah … the 70s.

  6. Yeah, that Matt Gaetz, with the ethics probe hanging over his head.

My quick reaction is that Trump did this knowing Gaetz would not be confirmed, would withdraw his name (after resigning his House seat) and would be outta the way.

The “ethics” probe is bogus Democrat propaganda, not worth the Russian-collusion-like paper it’s written on. Sorry to see anyone has fallen for it at this late date. Gaetz will be confirmed of course, because there’s nothing to augur otherwise. The man is an upstanding American qualified to do the job asked of him. It’s silly to think President-elect Trump would want him “out of the way”.

  7. youtube has a lot of congressional hearing pieces. Gaetz brings the receipts and doesn’t allow witnesses to digress. It’s kind of fun to watch. It’ll be interesting to see how that personality follows Garland.

  8. “…This is terrible. Nobody thought we would have undivided government. We thought if Trump snuck in there, we would at least have Hakeem Jeffries standing in the way to try to save it…”

Would that be “Fire Alarm” Jeffries? Pulling false alarms in Congress to save “Our Democracy”?
American PATRIOT, par excellence?—“My only regret is that I have but one false alarm to pull for my country “??

If that’s a Jones joke, it doesn’t even approach funny.
If it’s not a joke then Jones needs to have his head examined. (Alas he’s not by any means the only one….)

On the other hand, though he may be more honest than his fellow delusional colleagues, choosing Jeffries as the person to save, as it were, the Democrats ought to demonstrate just how addled his judgment really is.

  9. In fact the Democrats DO NOT do “funny” and most certainly DO NOT do “honest”…

Here’s another absolutely “Biden” political hit, after flailing around hysterically and pathetically trying to figure out WHO IS TO BLAME for their self-immolation.
“Grand Political Theatre” – FBI Raids Home Of Polymarket CEO; Seize Phone, Electronics”—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/crypto/grand-political-theatre-fbi-raids-home-polymarket-ceo-seize-phone-electronics

No doubt this is a taste of the next eight weeks to come.

  10. Barry Meislin:

No, that was Jamaal Bowman of the fire alarm.

Hakeem Jeffries is the current Minority Leader of the Democrats in the House, and Jones was almost certainly referring to the hope that the Democrats would control the House and then Jeffries would become Majority Leader.

  11. Another “Biden” “gift” to the American people. (Note that “he” would have given it even if Harris had won…but none of the corrupt media would have been reporting it. NOW, however, if they can saddle Trump with it, then they’ll go whole hog…)

“US Deficit Explodes: Blowout October Deficit Means 2nd Worst Start To US Fiscal Year On Record”—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/us-deficit-explodes-blowout-october-deficit-means-2nd-worst-start-us-fiscal-year-record
    Opening graf:

It is only fitting that the twilight days of the Biden admin would exhibit more of the same fakeness that defined not only all of the past four years, but certainly the fakeness of that Kamala Harris presidential campaign which had a billion dollars a month ago and ended up in failure, broke and in debt. We are talking, of course, about the relentless debt-funded spree that somehow became synonymous with economic success in the US….

If Obama et al. are suffering then it’s an excellent bet that everyone else will just have to, as well…

  12. So the Democrats are depressed?
    Such a shame.
    Really too bad.

OTOH, how many more bullets is the country expected to dodge??

“The CDC Planned Quarantine Camps Nationwide”—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/cdc-planned-quarantine-camps-nationwide
    Opening grafs:

No matter how bad you think Covid policies were, they were intended to be worse.

Consider the vaccine passports alone. Six cities were locked down to include only the vaccinated in public indoor places. They were New York City, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and Seattle. The plan was to enforce this with a vaccine passport. It broke. Once the news leaked that the shot didn’t stop infection or transmission, the planners lost public support and the scheme collapsed….

  13. See, millions upon millions of illegals are allowed into the country and taking jobs away from the lower class…not to mention a lousy economy and serious inflation cutting into their pocketbooks.

Not to mention the crime rates that the Democratic Party has been enthusiastically encouraging…which DOES make sense from the point of view of “The Resistance”…but which most Blacks, like other normal people, would probably not appreciate…

But since the Democrats have a “lock” on the Black the vote, the Democrats can do whatever they want and Blacks will vote for the Democratic candidates anyway.

    Right?

And did we mention that Harris is Black, which is just another reason the Democrats had the Black vote sewn up.

Besides, since they well know that they MUST vote for Democrat candidate because they’ve been told in no uncertain terms by the best President since…FDR? since Lincoln? since Washington? (Hey, maybe even before Washington)…that if they don’t vote for the Democratic ticket they’re no longer Black…

    Yep, sewn up l, alright…
