  1. CNN article about a company moving it’s production out of China to other countries to avoid Trump Tariffs on Chinese imports. Most of the people in the comments section don’t get that moving production out of China might be a good thing even if the jobs don’t come to America because it helps to slow the ability of the Chinese to continue to build their military. We are literally funding our super power replacement. Yes , tariffs raise prices, but so does raising taxes on American corporations. For some reason the people who want to raise taxes on American companies out of envy pretend that doesn’t raise prices. https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/08/economy/steve-madden-china-trump-tariffs/index.html#openweb-convo

  2. It is very revealing to me that Democrats promote forcing American companies to pay more in taxes and then pretend that doesn’t raise prices but get angry about tariffs raising prices. It’s left wing envy and covetousness and anti American Capitalism.

  3. neo, Brian E, and I have/had been discussing providing “sources” for comments made here. We each had our own opinions on it.

During the runup to the November election—it became obvious (to me anyway) that pretty much all American news – from both the Left (MSM) & Right (RWM) were partisan, conflicting, deceptive, confusing, outright lies, and/or “Fake news” at best.

    Recent current Example:

    OSINTdefender:
Qatar has notified Hamas Officials staying in the Country, that they are no longer welcome and must immediately make preparations to depart. – 11/8/24: notice the comments made in that link.

    i24NEWS:
Qatar set to kick Hamas leadership out – 11/8/24

Decision apparently communicated to the Palestinian terror group in the past few days

According to the Hebrew-language Kan outlet, the decision was communicated to the Palestinian jihadists “in recent days.”

(NOTE: both those “sources” were from the New Neo blog (comments and/or posts). I didn’t go thru every article or comment on Qatar asking Hamas to leave – here or the internet. The OSINTdefender (Open Source Intelligence Monitor focused on Europe and Conflicts across the World) post says Hamas “must immediately make preparations to depart.” The i24NEWS article mentioned the request for Hamas to leave was made in “past few days” and added that the Kan outlet said “in recent days.” Both turned out to be questionable “sources”, IMHO.)

Checking ISW last night I came across Iran Update, November 8, 2024:

Qatar instructed Hamas’ political leadership to relocate from Doha, according to US officials and Israeli media. The Qatar-based members of the Hamas Political Bureau would in this case need to find a new base of operations, which could be Iraq. The United States reportedly pressured Qatar to expel Hamas’ political leadership after the group rejected the latest ceasefire-hostage agreement proposed by international mediators. Emirati media reported in June 2024 that Hamas was considering moving its headquarters to Iraq. Hamas later established its first political office in Baghdad at some point in Summer 2024.

(NOTE: OK – have linked to Three articles and that is close to the limit allowed here, so no more links from this point.)

Best I can tell, around 31 October 2024, the Times of Israel reported “Hamas rejects any hostage deal that doesn’t end war, despite mediators’ efforts” – and that rejection was around mid-October.

“YESTERDAY” the Financial Times had this – “Qatar asks Hamas leaders to leave after US pressure”

Qatar has told the leaders of Hamas to leave the country following pressure from Washington, in a significant shift in policy by the Gulf state.

The request was made around 10 days ago after intense discussions with US officials, according to one person familiar with the matter.

Lots of articles on 11/8/24 are showing the request was made “10 day ago.” 10 day is more than a “few days” or “recent days” – IMHO. 10 days is also more than the few days since Trump was elected.

    Conclusion w/ Question/s

Newmax (pretty Fair & Balanced) said on 11/8/24: ‘U.S. has told Qatar that the presence of Hamas in Doha is no longer acceptable … Qatar then made the demand to Hamas leaders about 10 days ago, the official said.

    • Did Qatar ask/tell Hamas to leave because of Trump’s election win on Tuesday, November 5, 2024?

    • Did Trump warn Hamas and Qatar after he won election?

    • Did Biden tell Qatar to make Hamas leave—before or after Trump was elected?

    • Brian E – which articles/posts would you use as your “source” on whether Qatar told Hamas to leave – ones that suggest 1) because Biden told Qatar to do so *OR* 2) because Trump had won the election?

Had originally planned on a “brief comment” and the “ask a question” but plans often change…

  4. What an amazing blessing that Trump got to replace three Supreme Court justices—“post-empting” at least one Obama selection (RBG could have resigned during the Obama second term), and leaving—with God’s assistance—no opportunity for Biden!

I predict the Robert’s court will edge a bit to the right during the next four years.

The current oldest justice is Thomas—he’ll be 80 in four years. He’s followed by Kagan and Roberts who are 70 and 69, respectively. If all nine stay healthy, I doubt we will see a retirement during Trump’s second term.

  5. the al thanis could see the writing on the wall even if the media and most of the Washington establishment could not, certainly they were not receiving any pressure from the regime (the puppet masters around biden) and the malley network, will he ever be prosecuted for what we could call treason, to quote the phrase, ‘treason doth prosper, none dare call it treason,

  6. Some Democrats are reportedly agitating to get Sotomayor to resign now so Biden could appoint a successor. Seems to me the time is too short for that.

  7. Karmi-
    Qatar says… A lot.
If you believe every detail out of Doha, it’s fair to say that their expulsion of the bad guys had nothing to do with Trump’s election.
What I believe is what I hear with my ears, and see with my eyes.
What I see and hear is that there was nothing out of Qatar until Trump won.
After Trump won, there was an important announcement, consistent with reality changing for the Middle East as a result of his impending presidency.

    YMMV.

  8. West TX Intermediate Crude

Why on earth would Qatar lie – with President elect Trump heading into Office like a hurricane?! Lie to make Biden look good and to make Trump look bad?!? Seems your ears ‘n eyes are deceiving you, IMHO.

From Jewish Insider – Qatar asked Hamas leaders to leave Doha

Qatar recently conveyed to Hamas leadership living in Doha that members of the terror group are no longer welcome in the Gulf monarchy, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to Jewish Insider.

Qatar issued the demand to Hamas a week and a half ago, the source confirmed. After Israel’s Kann News first reported the news of Qatar’s demand to Hamas on Friday, analysts suggested the timing was due to former President Donald Trump’s election on Tuesday. But the move — which came shortly after Hamas rejected another cease-fire proposal — took place several days before Election Day.

Maybe everyone had been too focused on the US Election…

  9. Kate-
Justice Sotomayor wants to resign exactly as much as Biden wants to resign- power is far more important to these people than the good of the party or the good of the nation.
I don’t think we have a whole lot to worry about, even if there is time to nominate, hold hearings, and vote on a new justice. Schumer, et.al., have to be scared that the process will get hung up enough by Mitch (master of delay) that whoever they nominate does not get voted on until the new Senate is seated, the Dem justice gets voted down, and PDJT gets a 4th nomination immediately upon taking office.

  10. because the doha princes are as blood soaked as they are natural gas rich,

one of them, gave sanctuary to zarquawi, the demon of the wadi, they have also given a berth to the Taliban, to Boko Haram, every slithy tove you can imagine
    under the sun

one recalls back in 2017, before the Abrahams Accord, they had tried to blockade Qatar for it’s transgressions
but the borg, seem to have stopped that, not long after that Twitter had sought to cancel accounts of those critical of Salafis like Qatar and Shiite militants like those running Iran,

the whole khashoggi kerfluffle came after

  11. Karmi-
Why would Qatar lie? A fair question, and I don’t know the answer.
Another fair question (I think) is why would both the Biden administration and the Qataris keep that demand quiet for 10 days, and why did they announce it when they did? Was it kept quiet to minimize outrage in Dearborn and Hamtramck? Were they waiting for Hamas to make a counteroffer? Did they get a back channel message from the Trump people that very bad things would happen to Qatar if Hamas was not gone by January, forcing them to announce that Hamas’ exit was already in the works?
I don’t know any answers. I do know that diplomacy is rarely conducted in plain language or by straightforward discussions. All parties involved know that the timing of the initial announcement would raise the questions that it did; as far as I know, the fact that the demand was 10 days old was not revealed until questions were in fact raised. It’s possible that it’s as straightforward as you suggest. My mileage varies.

  12. West TX Intermediate Crude

    Fair enough.

Still, it seems that Israel’s Kann News was possibly the first to report it, and that report was quickly rejected, and that the 10 day report of “the matter confirmed to Jewish Insider” – and others. By then, RWM ‘n REPs had already rode with the “few days” and “recent days” report.

    As you say – “YMMV.”

  13. Power Line week in pictures is hot today!
The Week in Pictures: Election Elation Edition

    • Trump has better Coverage than Verizon – Can you hear us now?

    • He single handedly kept America from having the first female president TWICE

    • Trump arrested for beating two women

    Last but not least…

    • I haven’t seen a man beat a woman this bad since the Olympics

  14. Hey, maybe Qatar read the same polls I did, and saw the Trump election coming. 🙂 But more plausibly, W.TXCrude’s suggestion that the request was kept quiet for election reasons makes sense.

  15. ref November 9, 2024 at 10:46 am

Guess my main or one of the main points was:

neo, Brian E, and I have/had been discussing providing “sources” for comments made here. We each had our own opinions on it.

    Then I had added:

During the runup to the November election—it became obvious (to me anyway) that pretty much all American news – from both the Left (MSM) & Right (RWM) were partisan, conflicting, deceptive, confusing, outright lies, and/or “Fake news” at best.

Then West TX Intermediate Crude added some excellent points—couple examples:

    • ..minimize outrage in Dearborn and Hamtramck?

    • ..diplomacy is rarely conducted in plain language or by straightforward discussions.

My bashing of news media did miss at least those two points…tho I have no plans to cut ANY news source—or blog “source” any slack. 😉

  16. Off topic (-; but I got interested in the Ver Meer question several years ago, even buying David Hockney’s book, The Hidden Knowledge. I’m convinced that it was quite common to use optical aids for painting in the Netherlands of the day. The Netherlands were the center of making lenses for a variety of uses making them easily available for use in making a camera obscura and other simple devices for copying images. Many of them are cheaply available today.

The Museum of Fine Arts here had an exhibition of Dutch art from the day, mainly many many still lifes of fruits and flowers. They sure looked photo realistic to me. An optical device to make copying easy would be a natural tool to help production.

The lecture is a wonderful example of art speak, which I love, though I don’t think that I’ve ever understood any of them.

  17. @Paul In Boston: I’m convinced that it was quite common to use optical aids for painting in the Netherlands of the day…An optical device to make copying easy would be a natural tool to help production.

Camera obscura were studied by the Greeks and Chinese in ancient times, Muslim, Western, and Chinese scholars through the Middle Ages, and used in painting since 1550. Leonardo da Vinci described them in his notebooks.

  18. Paul in Boston, it happens that I’m in the middle of reading the Hockney book right now, and it’s fascinating. I am sort of a half-baked artist myself — all my life I’ve loved to draw, and now that I’m retired, that’s how I’m spending most of my time, immersed all day in form and line and color and light and shadow. Based on my own experience, I think it’s almost certain that Vermeer did use some sort of optical aids in his work. I say, so what? I say it takes nothing at all away from his genius.

The compositions, the colors, the light, the originality of those intimate domestic interiors in that time, the sensitive vision and painterly technique in rendering light, texture, color, weight — none of that came from a projection. All of that came from within Vermeer.

Anyway. I invite anyone who thinks Vermeer was cheating to go right ahead and show us. Accomplish a Vermeer. It’s easy. Just buy a projector on Amazon, set up a composition of objects and people, get that magical lighting perfectly right, project it onto your canvas, and then use brushes and oil-based pigments to translate the lighted projection into something so beautiful that people will still want to look at it hundreds of years from now. Good luck!

  19. “it’s astonishing that Harris reached the numbers she did. It’s a testament to party loyalty and/or ignorance and/or the extent to which people have taken to heart the relentless propaganda that has painted Trump as nearly demonic.”

Upon what basis might we accept those numbers to be fully genuine? No doubt the majority are genuine. But given that life in the city is necessarily divorced from contact with those who produce life’s basic necessities, propaganda divorced from common sense has fertile soil within which to take root. “As of April 2020, over 86% of Americans lived in metropolitan areas, which are counties that include or are next to major cities with populations of 50,000 or more. This is an all-time high.”

  20. Re: Vermeer / Optical aids / Hockney book

    Paul In Boston, Mrs+Whatsit:

I read the Hockney book some years ago and I was persuaded. I wasn’t scandalized either. I’m a tech guy. I like tech.

BTW, there is much more to Hockney than his iconic pop art painting, “A Bigger Splash” (1966).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Bigger_Splash

Anyone interested in Hockney ought to take a look at this episode of Robert Hughes’s “The New Shock of the New.”

–Robert Hughes, “The New Shock of the New: David Hockney on What’s Unphotographable” (2004)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDTEejaDC1M

Hughes was a famous art critic, who was concerned that modern art had painted itself into a corner. His first tv series “The Shock of the New” described the breakthroughs and breakdowns of art in the 20th C.

In “The New Shock of the New” Hughes attempted to find glimmerings of a way out of that breakdown. David Hockney’s art at the time was a return not exactly to realism, but to realistic beauty, which fit with Hughes’s quest.

Both of Hughes’s “Shock of the New” series are must-watches for modern art. Available on YouTube.

  21. I am sort of a half-baked artist myself — all my life I’ve loved to draw, and now that I’m retired, that’s how I’m spending most of my time, immersed all day in form and line and color and light and shadow.

    Mrs+Whatsit:

From one amateur (Latin for lover) to another, I say, “Good for you!”

As a teen I took a run at drawing and watercolor, but I didn’t catch the fire. I wasn’t without talent, but I could tell it would be a lot of work.

I’m now 72 and I have caught the fire to play music. That’s going to be a lot of work too.

Some people think that unless one is going to be great at something, why bother? That’s wrong at so many levels.

First, it is such a rewarding journey to the individual. Second, it enables one to appreciate the Great Ones, who wouldn’t be so great if no one was around to appreciate them. Third, there is an off-chance one might become a Great One, like Van Gogh or Vermeer, largely unrecognized in their times.

I wish you well on your journey.

  22. Re: Vermeer video

    Quite good.

BTW, there was a Spanish Netherlands. Did you know there was a Spanish Netherlands? I didn’t know there was a Spanish Netherlands.

It certainly was a discussion – until you went off the deep end w/ your TDS & Cult of Personality issues.

Following is one of many links I had researched to reach my statements in the November 8, 2024 at 5:16 pm Open Thread 11/08 – first a quote:

REPs are never going to learn…sanctions don’t work with Iran:

Congressional Research Service (CRS) – U.S. Sanctions on Iran:

Since the Iranian Revolution of 1979, the United States has used sanctions of various types as key tools of U.S. policy toward the government of Iran.

Your Beloved Trump wasn’t the first one to try sanctions on Iran.

Here is another one of the many links I had researched to reach my statements in the November 8, 2024 at 5:16 pm Open Thread 11/08:

Council on Foreign Relations – August 6, 2018 – The Return of U.S. Sanctions on Iran: What to Know

    The Big Picture

Prospects for diplomacy to resolve the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program appear remote.
    ***
Iranian officials, however, regard these demands as tantamount to seeking regime change.
    ***
Trump said he is willing to meet with Rouhani without preconditions, but Iranian foreign ministry officials rejected the offer as insincere.
    ***
Before too long, warn experts such as CFR Senior Fellow Philip H. Gordon, “the United States could face the dilemma the JCPOA was designed to avoid: allow the [nuclear] program to continue to expand in the absence of international monitoring or use military force to stop it.”

As I had said during our discussion @ November 8, 2024 at 11:01 pm Open Thread 11/08:

Trump’s sissy sanctions were the equivalent of forcing the Rapist to wear Condoms during any future Rapes…

The sanctions did not lead Iran to renegotiate the nuclear deal or significantly alter its nuclear ambitions. In fact, Iran responded by increasing its uranium enrichment activities, which were previously limited under the JCPOA.

Trump’s sissy sanctions may have briefly constrained Iran’s ability to fund proxy groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis, but Iran did continue its regional activities despite the economic hardship. Being sanctioned – off ‘n on since “the Iranian Revolution of 1979” – Iran was well versed on working around sanctions by the time Trump arrived and repeated the same sanction mistakes (AKA kicking the can down the road) – instead of destroying Iran’s Navy, Military complexes, Military barracks, defensive measures, weapons production facilities, etc.

Didn’t try AI’s during my earlier research, so will test one now:

ChatGPT: did trump’s sanctions against iran work

    Overall Assessment

Trump’s sanctions placed intense economic pressure on Iran but were less successful in compelling Iran to negotiate or significantly alter its foreign policy or nuclear ambitions. While the sanctions strained Iran’s economy and affected its people, they had limited impact on the government’s strategic decisions, underscoring the complex balance between economic sanctions and political outcomes.

Trump made the Iranian citizens suffer, but not much else…

All of this info was already available on the internet, and if you had an open mind you would’ve already known…instead of asking me to provide links for you.

In the future, please do your own research from now on – before asking me to do it for you…and then we can continue the discussion. Have been on enough Progressive/Liberal boards to know the “provide a link” tactic that usually gets followed by the ol’ “oh, that news source is not reliable. Can you provide another one?” See my comment @ November 9, 2024 at 10:46 am for linked “source” issues…

  29. “Trump’s sissy sanctions may have briefly constrained Iran’s ability to fund proxy groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis, but Iran did continue its regional activities despite the economic hardship.” -Karmi

    You said it yourself.

The issue of sanctions was in relation to Hamas Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

And yes they were working, until the Biden administration lifted the sanctions when he took office. The two years the sanctions were imposed, they were stifling the Iran regime.

As to it’s effectiveness, Iran’s oil exports dropped to .5 million barrels, down from 3.6 million when the Obama administration dropped the sanctions.

How the Biden administration botched America’s sanctions against Iran
With the financial deterrent undermined, only military deterrence is left

For America the question is how to encourage restraint from Israel, limit escalation, curb Iran’s baleful influence and deter it from choosing to build a nuclear weapon. Unfortunately, as our investigation this week shows, the Biden administration has undermined one of America’s main tools.

In 2018, under Donald Trump, America unwisely withdrew from an agreement to stall Iran’s nuclear programme and then imposed its harshest sanctions ever, in an attempt to punish the regime and stop it funding proxies and terrorists abroad. America banned its citizens from trading with Iran or handling Iranian money; it also reinstated “secondary” sanctions, which punish entities from third countries that deal with Iran, for instance by cutting them off from the dollar banking system.

President Joe Biden has often waived the enforcement of these sanctions. He was keen to bring Iran back to the negotiating table, and worried that a crackdown on Iran’s oil trade might fire up oil prices just when energy markets were alarmed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. His administration issued sanctions waivers to foreign entities, considered giving Iran access to frozen money and often turned a blind eye to Iranian oil smuggling.

    ——————

Yet by choosing not to rigorously enforce the sanctions, America has undermined their efficacy even in the short term, perhaps bringing China and Iran closer together. A complex infrastructure has developed to help Iran channel its revenues around the world. Last month it sold 1.8m barrels per day of crude oil, mostly to China—the highest level in six years.

  30. Brian E

You’re suggesting that Trump’s sissy sanctions broke the back of Iran’s Military Complex, ended Iran’s support of the Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis proxies, ended Iran’s support of terrorism, weapons production capability, and ended Iran’s nuclear bomb capability.

Then ‘Magically’ – Iran is able to rebuild, then send 10’s of thousands of missiles & drones to the Axis of Evil soon after Biden ended Trump’s sanctions. During this same time period of 4 years (?), Iran was also able to increase production all kinds of missile & drone capacity (who knows how many 10’s of thousands that involves) to also help Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine.

    Amazing rebuilding capabilities!

The issue of sanctions was in relation to Hamas Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

Have no clue what you mean by that…

    From your link:

In 2018, under Donald Trump, America unwisely withdrew from an agreement to stall Iran’s nuclear programme and then imposed its harshest sanctions ever, in an attempt to punish the regime and stop it funding proxies and terrorists abroad.

Yes, Trump’s sissy sanctions didn’t slow down Iran’s “nuclear programme” – nor its other strategic decisions.

Anyway, at this point—West TX Intermediate Crude said it best: YMMV.

  31. @Art Deco, huxley, Kate:I think it was acquired via dynastic marriages, not conquest.

The Low Countries were part of the lands of the Dukes of Burgundy, who were sometimes richer and more powerful than the Kings of France, technically their overlords. Charles the Bold died in 1477 invading Switzerland. His daughter, Mary the Rich, married into the Hapsburgs and brought the Low Countries under that dynasty. Her son Phillip the Handsome married Joanna the Mad of Castile and so became King of Spain.

Their son, Charles V, was Holy Roman Emperor and sovereign of something like half the world, both through inheritance and election: all of Spain, Austria, the Low Countries, a good chunk of Italy, King of Germany, and all the Spanish possessions in the Americas and Asia. He split these territories between Austria and Spain, abdicated in 1556, and became a monk.

The Low Countries went to Spain, hence the Spanish Netherlands. But the Dutch rebelled and the remainder of the Spanish Netherlands (roughly modern Belgium and Luxembourg) passed to Austria in 1714, and were eventually conquered by the French Republic in 1797. As for the Dutch, they were unable to hold out against Napoleon and were finally absorbed into France in 1813.

..hot Trump walked out on stage in a black muscle tank and red bandana, he flexed his muscles and protruding arm veins to the audience.

  33. Progressive activists have been pushing for Justice Sotomayor to step down – is this an ‘Indicator’ of their inner workings & thinking?

Justice Sonia Sotomayor Is Expected to Remain on Supreme Court

..she has no plans to retire from the Supreme Court, people close to the justice said.

“This is no time to lose her important voice on the court. She just turned 70 and takes better care of herself than anyone I know”..

Yeah, this is an ‘Indicator’ and possibly a BIG one.

Trump just won HUGELY. Sotomayor will be approaching 75 when a new president is entering Office in 2029. Progressive activists see what the DEMs have on their presidential Bench, noticed how easily Trump thrashed them in 2024, and see REPs possibly controlling the White House for another eight years—after Trump’s four.

Sotomayor doesn’t look like a healthy 70 yo to me—what will she look like @ 80+? I suspect that Progressive activists are wondering the same thing. Sotomayor has had type 1 diabetes since age 7, and she is now overweight whilst working at what I suspect is a stressful job. Her dad died @ 43 and mother @ 94.

  34. Vice President @JDVance as Senate Majority Leader???

@charliekirk11 tells me, “John Adams presided over the US Senate as Senate Majority Leader 200 years ago as Vice President of the United States. I think JD Vance should be President of the Senate and become Senate Majority Leader.

    @SenMikeLee came up with this.

Above my pay grade – but sounds interesting: A Vice President as President of the Senate and Senate Majority leader…

  35. Huxley, thank you, and good for you, too, and best of luck with your music. Whether or not either of us gets anywhere near the Great Ones, it’s a lovely thing, isn’t it, to be able to use getting older as an exploration of something beautiful and new?

  39. “You’re suggesting that Trump’s sissy sanctions broke the back of Iran’s Military Complex, ended Iran’s support of the Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis proxies, ended Iran’s support of terrorism, weapons production capability, and ended Iran’s nuclear bomb capability.” -Karmi

No, and nothing I’ve said suggests that.

The Economists points out that: “[Trump] imposed its [his] harshest sanctions ever, in an attempt to punish the regime and stop it funding proxies and terrorists abroad.”

And it was working. We will never know if it would have precipitated the collapse of the theocracy or a willingness of Iran to scale back it’s terrorist activities because Biden ended the sanctions and began funding the regime. And the EU provided a vehicle that allowed Iran to avoid the banking sanctions the US had put in place, reducing the effect of the sanctions to some extent.

The sanctions were in place less than two years.

But here is a BBC article outlining how effective the sanctions were:

Six charts that show how hard US sanctions have hit Iran
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-48119109

I never suggested the sanctions were going to force Iran to abandon its nuclear program, but it did require Iran to divert money going to its terrorist proxies to keep its economy inside the country stable. Inflation had skyrocketed and there were violent protests inside the country. GDP dropped significantly.

  40. @Chases Eagles:Charles the Bold was killed at the battle of Nancy while invading Lorraine.

Indeed, by Swiss mercenaries hired by Duke Rene; thanks for the correction. He had invaded Switzerland previously and been soundly thrashed, I must have confused the two campaigns.

Which reminds me of the reason for Swiss neutrality: it was not because they were a nation of pacifists. “Defeated by an army of Swiss mercenaries” is an often-repeated description in the history of those times.

  41. Having held his *PURE HATRED* in for almost a week—and during Church, infamous hypocrite GC™ finally relieved himself of the built up pressure in front of the blog…ignoring this plea from a commenter:

snark, and increasingly nasty personal comments between a couple of commenters

Once again – GC™ has initiated another “snark” and name calling attack…

Tit Tit Tit Tit Tit Tit Tit Tat

  42. LOL

    Sloppy citations.

    LOL

I’ve work to do, insulate two bare walls from window replacements and troubleshoot sticking relays on our electric furnace. Winter is comming.

But January brings President Trump back to the White House. Enjoy what is left Fall.

  43. The Russians have been vocally delighted by Trump’s win – believing he may rollover and let them have Ukraine…however,

Trump issues stern warning to Putin in phone call after election victory

Trump advised Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of ‘Washington’s sizeable military presence in Europe’, according to the Washington Post.
    ****
On Friday, the Kremlin said Putin was ready to discuss Ukraine with Trump but that did not mean that he was willing to alter Moscow’s demands.

Russia has lost an incredible amount of tanks (200?), other armored vehicles, and believe I read 80,000 soldiers (?) over past couple of months…something like 1,500 men a day.

We’ll see…tho I like the move. Ukraine has weakened and exposed Russia’s weaknesses, so this is not a time for Trump to allow Ukraine to fall into Russian hands. Ukraine can be an invaluable ally – with the potential to be as valuable as England and Israel, IMHO. Get Ukraine into NATO & EU, then see if Ukraine will take that move in exchange for some land…

  44. Niketas Choniates,
Nerd alert, I have board game system that I started developing in the early 1970s. I use this gaming system for my own strategic studies. This past summer I have been trying to adapt it to earlier eras starting in 1477 so I have been recently studying the aftermath of Charles’ death. This is the only reason I knew the answer.

  45. @Chases Eagles:Nerd alert, I have board game system that I started developing in the early 1970s

I like Europa Universalis and Burgundy is one of my favorite countries to play, that’s the only reason I know anything about Burgundy, the Low Countries, and the Swiss…

  46. The Burgundians captured Joan of Arc, handed over to the English, who put her on trial for heresy, conducted by Bishop Pierre Cauchon.

And Joan of Arc was burned.

    Grrr!

  47. It’s Sunday night and I know we’ve got some guitar heads here…

I’m fascinated by the PRS DGT SE model. In English — the Paul Reed Smith guitar, David Grissom Tremolo model, Student Edition. Available on Amazon for around $750.

A bunch of guitar YouTubers are raving about it. This is the evolution of a decades-long collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and guitarist David Grissom. Grissom didn’t just rubber stamp this signature model.

    https://www.thatguitarlover.com/blog/the-prs-dgt-se-review-is-this-the-best-guitar-for-the-money-available

It’s a modern take on the classic 1959 Les Paul with added tremolo and a split-coil option. There is only one tone control. Grissom says that at every stage they compared the DGT SE to a 1959 Les Paul.

An odd thing I notice about the electric guitar world is that there doesn’t seem to have been much evolution after the Big Three — Les Paul, Stratocaster, Telecaster — emerged. Many top guitarists prefer to play those classic vintage guitars from the 50s/60s rather than new ones. Other brands and models exist but don’t really challenge the Big Three and their budget copies.

PRS seems to be the only company really pushing the electric guitar forward with new ideas and new tech.

Any thoughts on the PRS DGT SE?

  48. @huxley: The Burgundians captured Joan of Arc, handed over to the English…

Hate the game, not the playa… and they have made it up to us with some very fine beverages.

  49. ….they have made it up to us with some very fine beverages.

    Niketas Choniates:

I’ve read several books on Joan of Arc and the mystery thereof.

Why would God send a teenage girl-saint to become a military leader and push the English out of France?

It’s still a mystery. The most amusing explanation I encountered was to preserve the wonderful variety of French cheeses.

  50. @ huxley > “Why would God send a teenage girl-saint to become a military leader and push the English out of France?”

Maybe she was the only one willing to listen.

We don’t know how many male warriors he tried to get through to first.
However, there is also the possibility that he chose someone who could not possibly claim the credit for the victory, but would have to place the honor where it belonged.
See David vs Goliath, and several other Biblical parallels.

  51. ”Why would God send a teenage girl-saint to become a military leader and push the English out of France?”

Why would he send an infant boy born in a stable to become the savior of the world? God, as the old saying goes, works in mysterious ways.

  52. Has the Trump 2.0 Chaos already started?!?!

Donald Trump Jr suggests his President-elect father will cut off aid to Ukraine with meme telling Zelensky ‘you’re 38 days from losing your allowance’

Not even in Office yet and – Yesterday it was “Trump issues stern warning to Putin in phone call after election victory” and Today we have Jr fuking with Ukraine using a pro-Russia meme!?!

Meanwhile, elsewhere, early signs are showing Trump’s MAGA Cult of Personality pushing for Trump 1.0’s failed Iran sissy sanctions again – ‘Now is the time to slam the sanctions back on.

Trump 1.0’s sissy sanctions were unable to cripple Iran’s Terror Proxies OR Iran’s government’s Strategic decisions (involving the destruction of Israel), but – ‘Iran has seen its terror proxies crippled by Israeli military and intelligence in the past year. Note that Israel did that crippling after Biden had removed Trump’s failed sanctions…

Still early, but early signs point to America issuing failed sanctions again, and leaving little Israel to fight Russia’s new pardner—Iran alone:

With Trump on the way back, Israel should be confident that its responding counter-strike destroys the mullahs and wipes away their nuclear ambitions once and for all.

That quote is from the 10 things Trump can do to clean up Biden’s messes abroad article.

Is Trump going to let Russia and Iran terrorize the world again? We shall soon see…

  53. Trump Jr. is not Trump Sr. but some can’t figure that out it seems, and ranting about spaghetti sanctions.

    Wow, just wow.

    Toots for toot, too.

  54. If yer blowin’ hot ‘n cold about Trump, well…just have to deal with it…
(Though ye’ might wanna give ‘im at least ONE WEEK to sort things out. Work out those priorities. Loosen up those muscles. Get his wife’s underwear back from the DOJ…You know how things are, or least can be…)

…OTOH, if the drummer in yer band turns out to be less than reliable…
…all ye’ have to do is git a tractor…

Meanwhile, it looks—-most fortunately—like America most certainly DOES NOT DESERVE Kamala Harris to be its Dear Leader….
    “America Failed Kamala”—
    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/21107/america-failed-kamala

    (Indeed, and thankfully so!)

    …And remember today—the 11th minute of the 11th day of the 11 month….
    Yep, remember them ALL.
    God Bless!
