  1. I am going to avoid news as much as possible today. Do not have a good feeling.

Instead, looking at Medicare Advantage plans. Costs on the one we have are going up, benefits are going away.

  2. SHIREHOME: I understand avoiding news today, I’m trying to do the same. But, rather than prowling through Advantage plans, wouldn’t just sticking a pencil in your eye be quicker and less painful? ??

  3. Yesterday Joe Rogan had Elon Musk on as his guest discussing the outright lies the Dems have been pedaling. Some are so outrageous as to be reeking of panic. He later announced he was supporting Trump. I would have preferred that he would have done that 2 weeks ago but I wonder if he was waiting till the last minute for Harris to come on his show. When she wouldn’t, he felt free to make his choice public. Considering the size of his audience, this is a plus. How much, who knows.

  4. Welcome to Joe Rogan and the Amish Save America Day!

There are 92,000 Amish in Pennsylvania. Call it 60,000 of voting age (the Amish have a younger population). This year they are mobilized to vote for Trump.

Not to mention all the Catholics and Jews who have been alienated by Democrats like Harris.

Joe Rogan has 14.5 mil audience — 70-80% male with an average age of 24. His endorsement is late, but any listener has been able to suss Rogan’s skepticism of the Harris campaign and the current Democrat Party.

I’ll be biting my nails later tonight, but I woke up feeling good about the election.

  5. I voted straight Republican in early voting. Plan to watch the news tonight. But I have stopped stressing the way I was a few years ago over politics. Although the promotion of the lies of ” gender ideology” bothers me at a deep level. What they are pushing on children. Why can’t people see it is based on lies ??? It’s a quasi religious cult being promoted to children ! The party that claims to be about science is promoting a kind of godless, mutilation religion. “In God we trust “and the “Ten Commandments” in school has been replaced by ” LGBTQ” and ” DEI”. They were not sweeping away the old values in order to leave an unfilled vacuum.
At church Sunday, the preacher asked all who wanted to join him for prayer up front for the nation. He has encouraged people to vote. Even all but said he could not support a party pushing for abortion . Admitted neither candidate is perfect. But also keeps reminding people that no matter who wins, God is in control.
That being said, one need only to read history or the Bible to see that God allows a lot of bad things to happen. The preacher is versed in history. Often brings up history facts in his sermons. Not even forty years old but in some ways is from a different generation with history knowledge. In some ways. Still wears those skinny pants with his sports type coat. Lol.

  6. On September 22, unnoticed by most Americans, the Biden-Harris administration adopted the United Nations Pact for the Future to transform global governance, which introduces the foundations of a world government. There was no debate, no media coverage, no press releases, and no interviews about the Biden-Harris administration’s surrender of United States sovereignty to the UN.

  7. If my semi-rural Alabama polling place is any indication, turnout is very heavy. And now I’m going to try to stop thinking about it till tomorrow.

  8. Here in Idaho there’s a ballot measure called Prop. 1, which would create open primaries with ranked choice voting, the same as California. $1.5 million of in state money has been raised in support of a “no” vote, $6.5 million in out of state money has come in favor of a “yes” vote. Why would people with no connection to Idaho be so interested in how we conduct our elections? Rhetorical question.

The state’s leading newspaper, the Idaho Statesman, used the word “extreme” or variations of it no fewer than 4 times in a single paragraph opposing the measure. (For those of you who think Idaho is a red state, it is. But Boise is to the rest of Idaho as Austin is to the rest of Texas. The mayor is out on the kook fringe left, as is the president of Boise State, and presumably too the CEO of Micron Technologies.)

  9. @Sgt Joe, I also live in Boise (Boise native) and work at Micron. Our CEO is not a kook, but he is an Indian immigrant (legal) who lives in San Jose and is NOT like someone born in Idaho politics wise.

The outside money on Proposition 1 is crazy and scary. But so is Boise’s Mayor (originally from Portland)

    Keep the faith.

  10. Sgt, Rank Voting on the ballot here in CO too. Lots of outside money too.

Old, it might be, but then I would need good insurance.

“$1.5 million of in state money has been raised in support of a “no” vote, $6.5 million in out of state money has come in favor of a “yes” vote. Why would people with no connection to Idaho be so interested in how we conduct our elections?”

Yes, something has to be done about the amount of money sloshing around in these campaigns. The Citizen’s United SCOTUS ruling and claims that money spent via PACs is speech is a flawed idea, easily abused.
Probably not what the Founders/ratifiers intended at all, vs. using speech and writing to provide persuasive arguments on political issues. Free “expression” [flag burning, effigy burning, etc.] should not be equal to free “speech”, although there is clearly a slippery slope for some kinds of sign waving, etc.

Restricting campaign contributions to sources within the applicable jurisdiction makes plenty of sense, but not sure how to justify it legally or constitutionally, at least without an amendment??? But it does align with Madison’s ideas about “faction” and having multiple separate factions vying for sufficient common ground to finally sell an idea to the voting public.

  12. huxley (10:45 am) reports, “I’ll be biting my nails later tonight, . . . .”

huxley, you may have to save your nails. This d#mn election may not be decided until at least December, maybe into next year. In a certain sense, it may never be decided at all, although some faction will eventually be able to claim a “victory”.

Even if there is, to superficial appearances, a more or less clear victor, the lawfare and shenanigans may very well persist almost ad infinitum. We may find that we’re going to need to ration our popcorn (along with huxley’s nails).

  13. I miss the spell checker in the comments box.
Is anyone else finding it is no longer available for them?

  14. RNC Touts Election Integrity Victories as Voters Flock to the Polls: We Aim to ‘Restore Trust in Our Electoral Process’

.. RNC launched an extensive election integrity program earlier this year featuring now over 200,000 poll watchers and lawyers at the ready. And while the election results are underway and there could be more challenges as the days go on, there is already reason for Americans to feel some victory and more security in the election.

Here are some of the major wins ahead of Election Day.

    • The RNC filed a lawsuit over Mississippi’s post-Election Day ballot receipt deadline. It essentially allowed ballots received after the election to be counted, which is illegal under federal law.

    • A judge denied requests from leftist groups to extend the voter registration deadline in the swing state of Georgia.

“Baseless attempts by leftist groups to change election rules do nothing but undermine the security of the vote. We are committed to protecting our elections, upholding safeguards, and making it easy to vote and hard to cheat in Georgia and across the country,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement at the time.

    • The RNC in August sued the “City of Detroit for their failure to hire a sufficient number of Republican election inspectors and allocate those Republicans as required by Michigan law,” as detailed in their press release at the time. They ultimately reached a settlement with the City, which agreed to change their “processes and protocols to correct this imbalance in poll worker assignments, ensuring that November’s election adheres to the legal requirements for balanced party representation, as nearly as possible.”

    • Montgomery County in Pennsylvania wrongly sent out ballots without conducting Ballot Accuracy Testing. The RNC ultimately filed a lawsuit, and the County confirmed their suspicions that they did not perform the testing.

    • Along with the Michigan GOP, the RNC filed a lawsuit against Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson for “failing to properly enforce absentee ballot verification laws,” per the press release. As a result, Benson “updated her guidance to require proof that signatures have been verified before ballots are counted.”

    • The Trump campaign last month scored a victory in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, forcing Bucks County to extend its in-person absentee voting following reports that the county was illegally turning away voters.

    • The RNC, alongside the North Carolina GOP, took on the State Board of Elections for “unlawfully allowing digital student IDs as a valid form of voter identification,” and the Court ultimately ruled in their favor.

    • The state of Arizona — another battleground — will now be able to enforce its documentary proof of citizenship rule for voters registering to vote with the state form. Whatley celebrated the Supreme Court siding with the RNC and deemed it a “major victory” for election integrity.

    • Non-citizens can be kept off the voter rolls in Virginia following an order from the U.S. Supreme Court. As Breitbart News reported, “Federal law allows Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) to stop noncitizen voting by removing noncitizens from Virginia voter rolls.”

    • Republicans had another election integrity victory in battleground Georgia after the state’s Supreme Court determined that ballots received after the Election Day deadline cannot be counted in Cobb County. Whatley said of the victory, “Democrat-run Cobb County wanted to accept 3,000 absentee ballots AFTER the Election Day deadline. We took this case to the Georgia Supreme Court. We just got word that we WON the case. Election Day is Election Day — not the week after. We will keep fighting, keep winning, and keep sharing updates.”

Co-Chair Lara Trump told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement, “When Chairman Whatley and I were elected as Chair and Co-chair we had two goals: get out the vote and protect the ballot.

  15. I am confident today. Confidence in Latin means “with faith,” which is how I like to operate in general. However, I have my reasons as well.

Today America is undergoing a vast political realignment. The Teamsters won’t endorse the D-candidate. The son of RFK has endorsed Trump and is working with him. Elon Musk, the richest man in the world bought Twitter, restored its freedom of speech, and is now campaigning alongside Trump. Tulsi Gabbard, Joe Rogan endorse Trump. Large numbers of disaffected blacks and hispanics are responding to Trump’s message. Plus my favorites, the Amish. 🙂

This is big weird stuff. Trump won in 2016 and lost narrowly in terms of the Electoral College in 2020. But then he didn’t have the large, many splendored coalition he has today. He is a stupendous retail politician and he has survived two, maybe three assassination attempts.

Kamala Harris is arguably the worst presidential candidate in history. Are there really enough single, college-educated women to make up for Trump’s new advantages?

Breitbart famously said that “Politics is downstream from culture.” Our culture has changed. There is a tremendous backlash against all the Democrat wokeness being shoved down our throats. Just ask the Disney Company.

Furthermore, we’ve seen what has happened with inflation and at the border — issues that polls show Americans care the most about.

I’m not just confident because I like to feel that way.

The only thing I worry about is the Dem leadership and the Deep State. I don’t know how serious the possibility may be, but they couped Joe Biden. Might they coup Trump and the rest of us after a Trump victory?

  16. Negative Karma: If one believes in karma, the act of deliberately raising hopes only to dash them might be seen as generating negative karma.

False Hope and Disillusionment: When hope is built up only to be dashed, it can reflect a karmic imbalance.

  17. Meanwhile back at the Hollywood Ranch…

I see Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, two of my favorite 70s stars, publicly backing Harris, even after Disney trashed them as broke-down toxic males and replaced them with hip woke girlbosses.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14033927/Mark-Hamill-thanks-Harrison-Ford-endorses-Kamala-Harris-2024.html

    Idiots. P-words.

I didn’t have much faith in Hamill, but Ford’s wizened endorsement in the link above was pathetic.

Hollywood celebs are the best Harris can do. They know how to talk to average Americans.

  18. Well, there could be one bright spot if Kamala Harris wins: maybe she’ll tap Boise’s mayor for a position in her administration and McLean will jump at the chance.

  19. I’ll be sitting this one out (mainly due to time and energy – no time to go to the voting booth in my case; feeling sloth like too)

@ Mac: Yes, in my area there have been lots of people who have been doing early voting. Last election I was able to do early voting without much of a wait. I sensed there wasn’t much enthusiasm as compared to 2016 or 2024 hence a shorter wait time.

For this election, who all those early voters voted for? We’ll see tonight or by early tomorrow morning.

  20. More reasons I’m confident is that Trump and his team are confident, presenting a confident, positive closing message and aggressively campaigning all over the place.

Meanwhile the Harris campaign smells desperate, they are closing with a “Trump is Hitler, but I’m a unifier” message, and are reduced on the last day to campaigning only in Pennsylvania, her do-or-die state, which could have been in Harris’s back pocket if she had selected PA Governor Shapiro as her VP.

    We shall see.

  21. sdferr,

If you have a link that explains why this is good, I’d appreciate it. I’ve all but given up trying to keep up with the details.

  22. Re: Rob Squad Reactions — Back again?

After radio silence for a couple weeks Jay and Amber, hosts of Rob Squad Reactions, have returned yesterday with three new videos.

    https://www.youtube.com/@RobSquadReactions/videos

Rob looks back in form, but Amber seems a bit tentative. She has lost much weight.

(I don’t know why they are called Rob Squad.)

  23. Karma is reported to be an unspayed canine.

What goes around needs a toit. Get a round toit. They go on forever.

  24. Looking down ballot, to the locals. Very little available unless you’ve been following one or another in real time.
But. A democrat for dog catcher must, necessarily, be comfortable with democrat positions on pretty much anything. Is that sufficient knowledge to vote against?

  25. @ Richard Aubrey > “Is that sufficient knowledge to vote against?”

    It is now.
Even if radical leftists are a minority in the Democrat party — and I’ve seen pundits argue that they are — they have made it a point to cancel anyone who deviates from the narrative and the agenda.
Any Democrat who hasn’t yet been driven out is on-board with their program.

  26. @ huxley > “I see Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, two of my favorite 70s stars, publicly backing Harris, even after Disney trashed them as broke-down toxic males and replaced them with hip woke girlbosses.”

Here’s what Ford said: ‘They know this really matters,’ the longtime entertainer noted. ‘The truth is this: Kamala Harris will protect your right to disagree with her about her policies or her ideas. As we have done for centuries, we’ll debate them. We’ll work on them together, and we’ll move forward,’ Ford stressed.

Here’s what Peter Heck says about that.
    https://notthebee.com/takes/harrison-ford-couldnt-have-picked-a-worse-reason-to-endorse-kamala-harris

I like Ford as an actor, but they are both ACTORS.
Their political opinions have no more value than mine and yours.
