[Please SCROLL DOWN FOR NEW POSTS: this one has been bumped up] The Gerard Vanderleun book website is open and the book is ready for purchase — 39 Comments

  1. I just ordered my copy. Thank you so much for honoring Gerard’s life and memory by sharing his words with the world. He was a beautiful soul, and it brings tears to my eyes to know that I will have him with me once again through his wonderful essays. He helped me to see that in this world, we are all broken, but life goes on, hope lives on and the River of Love never ceases to flow. Thank you and God bless you and yours

  2. A job well done, Neo. Looking forward to receiving my books. I ordered two for gifts to dear friends.
    Christmas is coming.

  3. I can’t decide. It must have been love or until the end of love. Either way, congratulations on life and prose.

  4. Cornhead:

Huh? That’s Gerard and his mom, about forty or so years ago.

The only photo of me at the website is the same one I use for this blog, with the apple.

I do have photos of Gerard and me, but they’ll cost you big bucks 🙂 .

  5. Neo, thanks for all the work you did to get this book published. I know it was a labor of (your) love, but we appreciate that it allows us to preserve Gerard’s unique talent and insights. Bless you and his memory.

  6. I was just thinking about him and the name in the stone the other day and now your news about the book. Gonna order one thank you. Because of him and the story visiting that stone has been on my bucket list

  7. Thank you Neo, for all of what you have poured into this book, it’s testament to something that you hold dear to your heart. I am looking forward to receiving my copy.

  8. WOW! What beautiful and fitting commemoration of Gerard’s life — and his place in your heart.

Time well spent — ours and yours both.

  9. Thank You for your efforts in this project.
I’ve been anxiously awaiting to order a book for myself.
With the holidays approaching, I thought to order a couple more as gifts.

  10. There are some people who are great-souled, whom it is elevating to know, even if only from their writings.

  11. Chuck:

I have no plans to do an ebook at present. It’s my strong impression that Gerard would have much preferred an actual book, so I’ve gone with that.

  12. Thank you Neo, for this and everything. Reading your blog is one of the things that keeps me sane every day.

  13. Suggestion for those who appreciate Neo but are not buying the book,
make a donation. Thirty dollars would equal book and shipping cost.

  14. You’ve long been a treasure, Neo. And your love, plus good judgment about Gerard’s talent, have let you make a book that will be treasured by many.
Almost certainly a good way to spend time on yet another “ most important election ever” night.

Because Big Govt keeps getting bigger, elections keep getting more important.

    Good thinking remains reliably good.

  15. “I find I don’t wish to explore new lands, but to explore again those I have already passed through, trying to see what I’d missed in the first hectic rush …”
    Gerard Van der Leun

Good quote. The older I get, the more I feel like that.

  16. J.J.:

    Glad to hear it!

One of the many many things I hadn’t ever thought about before, but had to decide, was what sort of packaging to use. I had just assumed I could send the books in plastic bag-type mailers, but then I realized that wasn’t protective enough. I had no idea how many choices there are in mail packaging!

  17. “I had no idea how many choices there are in mail packaging!” – Neo

So many issues, and so many decisions that you had to make to get the books printed and shipped. It’s not easy, and I’m sure you’re relieved to have it all done. Gerard lives on through these books. And that’s a blessing.

  18. If I’m ever lucky enough to have a woman feel about me the way you feel about Gerard I’ll be the second luckiest man who ever lived.

  19. I received my book the other day. It’s beautiful, Neo. The book is well-bound, satisfying to hold, lovely to look at. Gerard would love your font choices, the design of each chapter’s first page, the photos you chose. And I haven’t even started reading yet!

You’ve done what Gerard would have wanted, a final and wonderful gift.

  20. You’ve probably already seen this, but just in case, a post this morning from Glenn Reynolds on Instapundit:

WORTH YOUR TIME, FOR SURE: From the late Gerard van der Leun, The Name In The Stone, and Other Essays.
