Trump and Rogan, sitting and schmoozing
I listened to all three hours of Trump’s interview with Joe Rogan out of curiosity. As is my habit when listening to a podcast or the like, I was double-tasking, mainly doing chores while wearing a wireless headset, and I increased the audio speed for much of it.
But I didn’t really need three hours of a Rogan interview to be familiar with Trump’s personality. He’s been doing talk show interviews since the 1980s (or earlier?) back when he was slim and handsome. And then he had his own hit TV show for years later on. Trump’s got the gift of gab (if you like him) or is a master BS-er (if you don’t).
Rogan has an enormously popular podcast which I hear is especially appealing to youngish males. I’m clearly not a member of that demographic, but I’ve seen a few excerpts from his show over the years, and I know the format. It’s tailor-made for Trump, who’s ordinarily quite relaxed on camera especially if there’s a friendly interviewer. Trump has a sense of humor as well. Those things were on display during yesterday’s interview, and I think he probably gained some voters from it – people who didn’t see a moment of the Hitler they’ve repeatedly been told he’s channeling.
The basic messages Trump conveyed in the interview were these:
I have stamina – therefore those who say I’m going gaga are lying through their teeth.
I’m likeable – unlike a certain candidate whose initials are KH.
I’m able to think and talk at the same time – unlike a certain candidate whose initials are KH.
I’m actually able to answer questions – unlike a certain candidate whose initials are KH – and although I ramble at times, it’s purposeful and I know exactly what I’m doing.
Here’s the video. I noticed just now, as I went there for the embed code, that it’s got about 16 million views. That’s in less than 24 hours and on YouTube, a subsidiary venue for Rogan (Spotify is where most people watch his show):
Kamala Harris, on the other hand, went the star-studded route and got the Beyonce nomination. Harris’ entire campaign is focused on appealing to women, of course, although apparently some watchers were mighty upset yesterday that Beyonce didn’t sing a note although a short concert had apparently been hinted at and certainly was expected. There were even boos from the crowd. Certainly not the look Harris was aiming for.
Harris isn’t planning a Rogan interview. It’s obvious that she wouldn’t do well in such a venue, or that she’s actually frightened of it. Then again, maybe it would have helped her to do something like it, if she could relax enough to be herself. It’s a big “if,” of course. But I’d be curious to see what that self might be. Is there no there there? Is that self something equally off-putting as what we’ve seen so far of Harris, or worse?
Then again, maybe Harris will win anyway, for all the usual reasons: demographics, “rigging,” press help, identity politics and wokeism, actual fraud, who knows?
Great, was wondering about that interview. Drudge has had “Trump is on Adderall: A “Man Baby”” from Jul 19, 2022 up top all day, along w/ “Joe Rogan says he will NEVER host Donald Trump on his podcast despite being asked multiple times because he is an ‘existential threat to democracy itself’” from 5 July 2022 – plus a couple other nasty remarks I didn’t check.
Have never watched a Rogan show even though I am a “youngish” 78. Had figured that Trump would probably fit right in w/ the format tho—even tho they both may have been at odds in the past. Rogan wanted the viewers & Trump wanted the exposure to more voters.
🙂 🙂 Too funny! And she didn’t even do well w/ Beyoncé endorsing her at their Texas rally…Ditto on Too funny!
I watched snippets of the interview.
It was good. Trump told some good anecdotes. I especially liked his description of landing in Baghdad in Air Force One. The way he told the story was both humorous and gripping. I’ve made landings in black our conditions like that, and his story triggered memories of those days.
I don’t understand why Rogan is so popular. He’s got certain biases and seems to me not as well informed as other podcasters I’ve watched. (Bongino, Whittle, Megyn Kelly to mention three.)
The enormous exposure can’t hurt. You couldn’t watch it and say Trump is a want to be dictator. In fact, the reaction most men would have is that they’d like to sit down with him and shoot the sh*t.
Re: Joe Rogan podcast
It’s not the biggest deal, but it is a big deal.
neo’s summary was spot-on. Much of it wasn’t what was said so much as the implicit comparison with Harris.
Everyone one knows there’s no way Harris would survive three hours with Joe Rogan, even if he were super-gentle.
Well, apparently Kamala is dragging a ‘reluctant’ Michelle Obama in front of some cameras, perhaps hoping to achieve salvation from inside the ruling cabal somehow. A desperate last chance?
“. . , ,if she could relax enough to be herself”???
The horror. The horror.
Rogan has a way. Though if you wind him up on JFK assassination or moon landings, you will definitely hear what he thinks.
He strikes me as the comedian version of sci-fi author Larry Corriea. Knows how to do the job but also knows the business. As Larry points out, an author doesn’t make money from the latest bestseller. He makes it when a reader likes the bestseller and goes back and buys the author’s back catalog.
A lot of new fans will hear Rogan’s chill style and start listening to his daily show. Cha-ching!
Speaking of podcasts, Tucker Carlson’s is good. He’s adding one more tour date in my neighborhood. Special guest: Donald Trump. I cannot go.
Harris is a totally revolting, disgusting human being. She began as a whore with Willie Brown. She remains a whore. Her knees are callused.
If enough ignorant, stupid Americanos vote her in, this country is dead, murdered by her and the Dems. Y’all kiss your sweet a*s goodbye then.
Young men were already leaning towards Trump. This will accelerate that trend.
Kamala was in talks to do a Rogan interview. The report is that Rogan wanted unlimited topics and Kamala wouldn’t do that.
Trump continues to demonstrate that he is fearless. or close enough to it for government work.
I don’t know whether to believe the pontificators who keep yapping about the election being neck and neck, or not. I suspect much of it is click bait, as Trump seems to be scoring with more and more demographics.
I cannot believe that the charges of ‘Hitler like’ resonate with anyone who has sufficient faculties to complete a ballot. Without help from a friendly ballot harvester that is.
So, I believe the danger is from two sources. First is the unfettered abortion crowd. We know that it is a large crowd, and that the issue will drive them above any other consideration; we just don’t know how large it is. Women who support the ‘right to choose (to kill babies at any time, on any whim)’ are very vocal; but we don’t know how many quiet women share their madness.
The second source of danger is the traditional Democrat base; i.e. those who buy the fiction that government will take care of them; and big government will take care of them bigger. Hence the importance of the migrant vote to Democrats.
Listened to all of it this morning, think it was a home run for DJT. Wish a bit more prepared with a few facts on 2020 vote fraud but all in all showed he is a human, not anywhere near wearing out. Besides sitting 3 uninterrupted hours did a speech in Austin earlier and after flew to Michigan for a rally with 10,000 people.
Harris would not survive pulling lies and propaganda on Rogan, shame really she isn’t allowed anywhere near a real interview.
@Oldflyer: I think you’re missing a third source: the people who depend on big government for their business revenue. The government writes a lot of checks to a lot of organizations, sometimes grants, sometimes purchases of goods and services, both at home and abroad. I think a lot of these people were behind the animus toward Trump, so far in excess of anything leveled at Bush. Their livelihoods are directly threatened by someone like Trump who doesn’t understand why so many of these people are getting checks.
“didn’t see a moment of the Hitler they’ve been told he’s channeling”
C’mon, what could be more like Hitler than wisecracking while serving customers at a McDonald’s?
