Oh, and by the way, Kamala Harris is best buddies with the owner of The Atlantic, Laurene Powell Jobs
Laurene Powell Jobs, the very deep-pocketed owner of The Atlantic, is an extremely close friend of Kamala Harris and a big supporter.
Surely that had nothing to do with the Atlantic’s publication of a poorly-sourced hit piece on Trump by Jeffrey Goldberg two weeks before Election Day. The allegations in the article have been denied by almost everyone involved except for Goldberg’s anonymous sources and the Trump-hater John Kelly.
Here’s some of the history of Powell Jobs and Harris:
Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, has been friends with the Democratic presidential nominee for years. In fact, these two powerful women are so close Harris has referred to Powell Jobs as part of her family.
In 2017, then-vice president Joe Biden swore in Harris as a U.S. senator, and right after the ceremony they posed for a photo in the Capitol with her family. Then she asked Biden to take a picture with her “extended family,” according to a report from The New York Times. Powell Jobs—one of the richest women in the world—was quick to jump in.
Powell Jobs and Harris have been friends for two decades, and she’s also made other “quiet” donations amounting to millions of dollars to an organization backing Harris, three people briefed on the gifts told The New York Times. Powell Jobs also allegedly played a “key role” in helping usher Biden out of the race, making room for Harris to step up.
There’s a great deal more at the link, but you get the idea.
Why am I not surprised? They’re all family, and the whole family ushered Joe Biden out the back door.
My big wonder now is, will Biden “step down” before January 20? My bet is he will, right after Kamala loses on Nov 5. That way she will be the nation’s first woman (and Indian) president. But like Roger Maris and his home run record, Kamala will always have an asterisk after her name in the history books.
The modern Democrat pary seems to be awash in money from such plutocrats, many of whom are idle, unaccomplished inheritors. This is the main reason they’re often able to outraise their Republican counterparts by significant margins.
Yesterday, somebody linked a picture of Laurene Powell Jobs hanging out with Ghislaine Maxwell. May have been a deep fake, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was real.
I think Joe will hang onto the presidency until his term ends, and he will pardon his son Hunter and, as an additional measure, his entire family, after the election.
Published and broadcast media, left-wing think tanks, and left-wing administrations are heavily populated by the same people. They rotate among positions, or their spouses do.
Look what we have here

She is – or was – buddy-buddy with Ghislaine Maxwell, too.
There’s a picture of them lounging together in this article about how shitty The Atlantic has become.
(Edited to add: Miguel got there first and better)
Our rulers, Jobs, Gates, Zuckerberg, and Musk all seem a little “neurodivergent.” Maybe they always were, but I wonder if something isn’t wrong with Laurene too.
As a local guy, I have to say that the magazine took a wrong turn 20 years ago when it left Boston for Washington DC.
Nonapod and Miguel cervantes,
I saw that picture posted several places and wondered if it was real or fake. I’m sure the leftist fact checkers will let us know.
Oh really

The Atlantic has turned from a worthwhile read to a propaganda vehicle over a couple or three decades. I would not touch it yesterday or today, Widow Jobs.
Something has happened to endow the ultra-wealthy with the power of forcing us to consume garbage. J.D Rockefeller was not quite like this, even as the richest man on the planet. Dunno what, do you?
Powell Jobs seems to be an evil woman. She must have an Ivy League degree.

Sigh.
There’s nowhere to send flowers.
I think one reason the elites have been so quick to ditch merit for DEI is because in their case, they know that “merit” was always a sham; few of them are dumb and most had at least better-than-average grades and test scores, but they are connected with each other and that’s how they get ahead. “Merit” was fine for middle-class strivers, someone’s got to fill out the bottom two-thirds of org charts and sometimes you found one worth bringing aboard. A switch to a DEI system is not perceived to threaten the elites in any way, whereas a true merit system applied everywhere certainly would.
Huxley: the three dead/dying journals you cite had one thing in common: a seriously Leftist editorial staff.
Leftists destroy what they touch.
You can add these that we used to subscribe to, until the bias became noticeable.

The Rolling Stone has always been leftist, but I used to read issues at the laundromat and enjoyed much of the writing, until it went even harder left (around 2000 IIRC), to the point where Matt Taibbi jumped ship.
I was on my way to that laundromat when the planes hit the towers. That was the only time I know of that the clerk turned on the tv set (one reason I went there is that she always kept it off; I got a lot of reading done).
Not to mention that TNR has become a freakin’ disaster.
(I do enjoy their ads for tours of Cuba, though…even if, especially these days, they kinda forget to tell eager participants to bring their own generators…).
This wouldnt be happening if marty peretz were still alive (sarc) he sold it to chris hughes who sold it to larry steinhardt but the journolist hive is thick as evarr
