Roundup
(1) Helpful:
On behalf of the 16,000 men and women represented by the National Border Patrol Council, we strongly support and endorse Donald J. Trump for President of the United States.

I can’t say I’m surprised.
(2) I haven’t written about this yet, but it’s pretty spectacular:
SpaceX’s last ~40 hours:
– launch of history’s largest and most powerful rocket, Starship, completing the first-ever midair catch of a rocket booster and an on-target ocean landing of the upper stage
– launch of Falcon Heavy with an interplanetary NASA spacecraft headed to one… pic.twitter.com/Xv9ZyBpkEG

(3) Kamala Harris consents to an interview with Fox’s Bret Baier. My guess is that he will go fairly easy on her. Hope I’m wrong about that.
(4) CBS recently edited Harris’ interview to make her seem smarter, and now CBS has edited Speaker Johnson’s interview to make him seem stupider.
(5) There’s no love lost between Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi these days. Pelosi herself said that they haven’t spoken since he got the boot as a 2024 candidate:
Pelosi (D-CA) spoke with British journalist Jonathan Freedland in a recent episode of “The Guardian’s Politics Weekly America” podcast where she revealed Biden has not spoken to her since he was forced out.
“Not since then, no,” she said. “But I’m prayerful about it.”
By the way – do you agree with me that Biden has seemed somewhat more with it ever since it happened? Maybe he’s been getting more rest.
I am of an age that the only space related event was launching of Sputnik. I built models, believe it or not, of the launch facility at Cape Canaveral. I remembere where I was when Shepard, Grissom (my grandmother baby sat him), and all the rest of the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions. I have been waiting for the safe landing of a booster literally since it was first thought that reusable rockets were possible. This will change history. No longer will space be the sole province of governments. As Heinlein predicted the future is in the hands of the private sector, IF the private sector is not hobbled by idiotic rules and regulations such as the banning of launches from California purely for political reasons. This landing, of the biggest most powerful rocket ever gave me a feeling of awe for the capabilities now proven possible.
David Axelrod tried to spin the ouster of Biden and then Harris’ readiness to campaign as an indication of her competence. If Harris had actually managed the coup herself, that would suggest competence. But the coup was managed by Pelosi and Schumer. Harris simply waited for it to happen. Biden’s endorsement of Harris was the only card left for him to play, but he played it.
I watched all of the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions, and I have John Glenn’s autograph on Coco Beach Holiday Inn stationary on my wall. This is the 1990s I was expecting.
With every passing day the nearer come we to certainty that Joe Biden has achieved a magnificently devious and pure snooker of epic, truly epic proportions against his treacherous “friends”.
God bless, ol’ pudding brain, well played.
By the way – do you agree with me that Biden has seemed somewhat more with it ever since it happened? Maybe he’s been getting more rest.
_______
Or maybe he’s free of the side effects of whatever they were pumping him up with. Drugs that will get you through a press conference can have more lasting deleterious effects.
3) Bret Baier is the squishiest of the Fox stable, so many people are not happy he’s doing the interview. But also not surprising that he’s the one that Harris is going with in her attempt to look like she’s not hiding and only dealing with sycophants.
I said the same the other day (“Biden almost seems normal”) He looked better to me and sounded less “where am I” Rest, no drugs, and not a staff of fifty telling you what to say seemed to help him.
I think Biden, for the first time in his presidency, finally feels motivated to perform in order to show up Harris, knowing he was deposed and that she is a midwit. I don’t think he had any conscious/subconscious concern over Trump and the election, knowing it was in the bag with mail-in voting, but now he actually seems to care a bit about presidentin’.
As for Harris doing a Fox interview, if full cooperation from Baier and the Fox producers wasn’t guaranteed, her handlers wouldn’t let her do it. The Harris team will likely trumpet Bret Baier up as a no-nonsense conservative journalist (which couldn’t be further from the truth) in order to frame this as a sort of “courageous performance” where she held her own against a hostile interlocutor.
When I watch Falcon Heavy land at the gantry, thrills and chills. It is a truly amazing feat. I was in JrH when Sputnik went up. Our tax dollars going to NASA are mostly wasted.
Yes, Ole Joe does seem more relaxed and with it.
She could not face Martha.
I agree with Eeyore that the reduction of drugs is helping Biden. How many stories have you heard about seniors taking too many conflicting drugs and they improved after stopping them.
Speaking of drugs… Medicare enrollment starts today and I switched my drug plan after my current one was merged into a more expensive one. Premiums went from 9.90/mo to 45/mo. So, my new plan has a zero premium and my 3 standard drugs are still $0 for generic drugs. So, something is going down in price.
Now, if only the doctors can figure out why I am losing my voice…. I’m tired of bouncing around between ENTs and neurologists. I was hoping that I have what RFKjr has, since that can be treated with Botox But the latest ENT specialist said nope and that the drug would stop my voice. While I am waiting for the next appointment or tests, I am looking for a good text to voice app for a phone. Any suggestions from this great group of people?
I posted on another board the other day that I am not only surprised they caught a Falcon Heavy as it returned from launch, I am even more surprised that someone out there (presumably Elon) thought such a stunt was possible.
I don’t know that Biden is more compos mentis than he used to be — I think we’re just not seeing him often enough to reflect on how impaired he is.
Bret Baier, and Fox itself, are at great risk with this interview. If he asks her serious questions and follows up, it will show her incapabilities. If he soft-pedals this, Fox loses reputation and viewers.
Regarding Descent Joe’s cognitive ability (such as it is), HATRED has a way of focusing the mind, or what’s left of it…
…and Biden has been seething for quite a while now…
Baier claimed earlier today that there was no preconditions, he only knows the questions, etc.
Kate is right; Fox already on somewhat shaky ground with the right. Could be their Bud Light moment.
But Fox is already known as Trump-antagonistic…
I expect that it is precisely this history that has influenced Harris’s horrific handlers to make this decision.
The only question is whether Baier has, as an individual, any integrity.
We’ll see when the interview airs. I have always thought of Baier as having integrity, even when I disagree with him.
I watched Baier’s program today. No mention of a live interview. We’ll see what happens.
This afternoon we received a reminder email about political activity do’s and dont’s. I work for the public library which means we are considered government employees and are subject to state ethics rules.
There is almost nothing we can say or do in support of or opposition to a candiate. No bumper stickers, shirts, buttons, no yard signs, not even any *contributions*. And we can’t Like or even Follow (!) a candidate on social media.
I bring that up because one regularly sees examples of public employees endorsing candidates for office. Where I work, no can do, we are specifically prohibited.
“(4) CBS recently edited Harris’ interview to make her seem smarter, and now CBS has edited Speaker Johnson’s interview to make him seem stupider.”
Denial of a renewal of CBS’ broadcasting license would be the appropriate consequence. An example needs to be set for the edification of the mass media.
I dont think of baier with integrity

Shes as vapid as a vintage record player
Can “Biden” do a victory dance?
Or is it a tad too soon?
And is it THE October surprise…? (OR only one of several…?)
“Multi-front capitatulation in 72 hours;
“Israeli newspaper: The government folded under American pressure regarding the attacks in Beirut, the reaction in Iran, and the humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip – within 72 hours“—
https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/397660
File under: “Take THAT, ZIOs” (or more prosaically, “Eat shyte, BIBI!”).
“Mucho Love,
yer closest, most reliablist ALLY (that’s right, we’re doin’ it fer YOU, ARS#%^OLE…)…”
“Prayerful about it,” Pelosi says, about her relationship with Biden.
Is anyone else surprised she wasn’t immediately hit by lightning after saying that?
It was amazing enough that the rockets come down “standing up” like that, but it was even more remarkable that the tower or gantry caught it like that. There do seem to be a lot of possiblities for things to go wrong there.
________
Baier may try to go easy on Harris, but she’ll have trouble answering the questions, so it will be taken for granted by the mainstream media that he was tough on her. If he tries to be a tough questioner and she has problems answering questions, would he have the guts to continue?
________
The less you see of Biden, the fewer possibilities there are for him to mess things up, but yes, if he only has one public appearance every few days, he probably is more rested and perhaps even better prepared.
Is one allowed to wonder, though, what has happened to Dr. Jill?
Has she been muzzled? Locked up in the WH attic?
Banished?
Yeah, I’m pretty sure the fix has already been negotiated with Brett Baier. That’s the only way I can see Harris volunteering for that.
@ Barry – from your link “The Israeli response will be coordinated with the Americans to prevent a situation where the step influences the elections in the United States, indicating that Netanyahu understood that an attack in Iran might change the picture of the presidential race in the US.”
Of course, NOT attacking also “changes” or at least affects the picture of the presidential race in the US.
Just like indicting a candidate withing 90 days of an election changes the picture of the race, so the DOJ won’t (or once upon a time wouldn’t) do it; but NOT indicting a candidate also changes the picture of the race.
Everything done or not done affects elections.
Do what is right, let the consequence follow.
(1) Neo didn’t link any story for the Border Patrol — but this is why NONE of us are surprised.

“Frustration” with the Biden-Harris open border must be the understatement of the year.
Biden isn’t any sharper, but since the weather turned cold he doesn’t spend as much time asleep at the beach.
Re: Baier / Harris interview
Baier has a tricky hand to play when it comes to follow-ups, lest he be chastised with Harris’s “I’m speaking…,” one of the few trump cards which she does know how to play:
–“”I’m speaking’: Kamala Harris reins in Mike Pence during VP debate”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXFqTGBty1w
@ Huxley: “lest he be chastised with Harris’s “I’m speaking…,” one of the few trump cards which she does know how to play…”
If he has the courage to do so, he could reply “yes, you are speaking but you are not saying anything, … or at least anything that makes any sense!”
R2L:
Harris did try it sometimes and sometimes Baier let up, other times he pushed back.
“I’m speaking” worked better against Mike Pence with a USA Today female moderator.
