  1. Nice video. The motorcycle crashes bring back memories for me.

The one in the video with a rider sliding prone on the track and another rider barely missing him is one. I was watching dirt track motorcycle racing on live TV once with a similar situation, except another motorcycle hit the prone rider directly in the head/helmet and killed him instantly.

We used to get international MotoGP racing at our local track. I recall getting a great viewing spot at the exit of a slow left hairpin turn. Not far away was a medium speed right turn. So the riders must roll on the maximum possible power to accelerate while pulling the bike from an extreme leftward bank to an extreme rightward bank. The trick is that if they use too much power the rear wheel suddenly spins and then regrips and the dynamics of that throws the bike into wobbles.

  2. MotoGP is so bad ass. Makes Formula One look like a stroll in the park. Of course, some might say that F1 is more a parade than a race.

  3. France 24 says they turned him over to the magistrates, but they are often wrong,

you think you can’t hate the press, anymore, but then they top themselves,

  4. The US State Department upset that an Israeli politician said that he would put a synagogue up on the Temple Mount if he could.
Remember when people said Trump couldn’t move the US embassy to Jerusalem because it would upset the Muslim, which for some reason we are to never upset? ( Cultural Stockholm Syndrome.)

Recently I was reading an English article where people from India were talking critically about Gandhi and I saw where some there were upset that Indian politicians still deferred at times to the remaining Muslims that are in India and not Pakistan.

  5. memory escapes me, thanks,

its called the Temple Mount for a reason, not Haram al Sharif

I’m reminded in the book about the real life hunt for the ark in the 20th century, conducted by an international expedition, headed by a Boer War Army Colonel, they dug proximate to the Temple, in the Well of Souls which was not in Egypt like the film, but Jerusalem this was when the sane member of the Husseini clan, was in charge of the Awqaf
    the religious authority,

  6. Good video but I could have done without the silly cutaways to movies and reaction shots, the feats speak for themselves.

  7. miguel, that was Jim McKay, not Howard Cosell
    ==
The former modest and engaging, the latter so very unpleasant that he distracted you from the event.

  8. A NYT’s paywall Opinion article which I got thru by using the Epic privacy browser. It gets thru most of the paywall articles I encounter, but not all. Be warned – the article is by a Palestinian American.

This Is Who Kamala Harris Fails – snippets:

As a Palestinian American, I’ve watched with growing apprehension the recent rebranding and memeification of Kamala Harris…

Article is by Dr. Hala Alyan – ‘clinical psychologist and professor in New York City.’ Speaks of the “charms of American mythology”, but quickly moves to “administration’s complicit funding of Palestinian slaughter” in the same paragraph. Then:

Because even in those Midwestern suburbs I was also Palestinian, raised on stories of the Nakba, land theft, a boy burned alive, a young American woman mangled by an Israeli bulldozer, the searing image of a man trying to protect his son from flying bullets.

3-4 old cases provide a weak case against all the Israelis murdered during those years. Still, he making his point/s against the DEMs “rebranding and memeification of Kamala Harris”. He has that right as an American.

The Democratic National Convention was a visually and sonically arresting display, full of bright-eyed, stirring speeches on race, identity, democracy — including a moving speech by the parents of an Israeli hostage — and talk of social justice and liberation. It began with a land acknowledgment. And yet the word Palestine was only held, briefly, in the mouths of non-Palestinians.

Sounding like one of those whining & complaining REPs/Conservatives (CONs ??) I mentioned yesterday. I believe most people get turned-off by such.

The most generous read of Ms. Harris vis-à-vis Palestinians is that she has inherited — versus had an active role in — a disastrous foreign policy on Gaza, and now must contend with hundreds of thousands of ambivalent voters who oppose it.

Now he does his own “rebranding and memeification of Kamala Harris” boot-licking impersonation before:

blockquote Never-mind. I can only stand just so much whining & complaining, so will scroll down a tad…OK, here he is sounding like a whining & complaining REP/Conservative again:

Ms. Harris is running her bid to be the next American president on a platform of unity, triumph, the urgency of stopping Donald Trump. She often refers to equity and accountability, speaking with a prosecutor’s steeliness of Mr. Trump’s crimes and the need for justice. But an inconsistent stance on accountability isn’t real accountability.

Yes, we must vote for Trump, ‘no matter what we think of him’, because of the urgency in stopping Biden Harris and the DEMs.

American society loves to cops-and-robbers our narratives, adores the proverbial champion, a villain to triumph against. We are the good, open-minded folks, we are on the side of justice, we are dedicated to the correct causes. Gaza scrambles this script in inconvenient ways for Ms. Harris.

I think I have presented a better case against the Rule of Law than this highly educated Dr. Hala Alyan. Then, what about the plight of American Jewish students trying to get an education at incredibly expensive American Universities. Antisemitic mobs attack, harass, threaten, etc. these students with no protection provided by the University or even our own Federal Government. George Corley Wallace Jr. must be rolling over in his grave…

    More of his REPs/Conservatives impersonations—again:

You think this is bad, the line goes, wait until Trump.

That logic is noxious: Using the threat of a more violent future under Mr. Trump to get people to fall in line with politicians who are already funding violence isn’t emblematic of — if I may — good vibes or brat energy or femme power. It carries the logic of abuse: What’s on the other side is worse, so you might as well sit down and be quiet.

Of course, not all REPs/Conservatives (CONs ??) sound like a Right-wing Dr. Hala Alyan, but far too many do, IMHO.

  9. see the martin kramer Iink I put up above,

they celebrated 9-11, in jersey city and gaza and sanaa, and every other place in between,
you can add towers hamlet, st denis, and malbeek,

    same for october 7th,

  10. There aren’t any Palestinians; they don’t exist. There are Egyptians and Jordanians.

  11. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5723028/2024/08/26/danny-jansen-mlb-history-same-team-red-sox-blue-jays/

Danny Jansen makes MLB history by playing for both teams in same game as Red Sox, Blue Jays resume

“BOSTON — Under sunny skies on Monday afternoon, 112-year-old Fenway Park bore witness to a bit more history.

Danny Jansen had been at the plate for the Toronto Blue Jays on June 26 in a game against the Boston Red Sox with one on and one out in an 0-1 count, when the skies opened up and the game was suspended for severe weather.

Fast forward two months and the game resumed Monday, but with Jansen now playing for the Red Sox. The Red Sox traded for Jansen on July 27, setting up the possibility of one player appearing in the same game for both teams.

The possibility became reality on Monday.

With Jansen substituted into the game to catch for the Red Sox, he settled in behind the plate, for an at-bat in which he’d started as the batter. (Boston’s original catcher in the game, Reese McGuire had been designated for assignment shortly after the team traded for Jansen.)”

  12. OOOPS!

Still, he making his point/s against the DEMs “rebranding and memeification of Kamala Harris”. He has that right as an American.

OK — Art Deco’s comment shows that Dr. Hala Alyan is not a he his He – not so far, anyway…

  13. FOAF:

Yes, I almost didn’t post the video for that reason, but then I decided it was worth watching despite all that silly stuff.

  14. Chases 240pm
Daulton Varsho pinch hit for Danny Jansen and struck out. If the game in June had gone one more pitch and Jansen had also fouled that second pitch off, Varsho would have entered the game as a pinch hitter with 2 strikes already on him. Under the rules of baseball, his striking out would have been credited to the original batter. So, Jansen came oh so close to catching a pitch that Jansen struck out on.

  15. if her family is from nablus, which was one of the three vilayets, ironically if saddam had not invaded they would stayed in kuwait, the country that gave us among others Arafat, Meshaal, and KSM and his whole clan from Balochistan, they were either residents or
    students there,

  16. Contrary to FOAF & Neo, I enjoyed the movie cutaways as demonstrating that what we dismiss as “stunts” on film are actually achievable by superb athletes. The reaction videos are now de riguer in some types of videos, and I’m neutral on those.
I did think it odd that the compiler did not distinguish between moments that were “impossible” because of their extreme perfection, and those that were “impossible” depictions of disaster.
The most amazing clips combined the two, as with a snowboarder taking off from his colleague’s raised board after he falls. I kind of wondered if that was a stunt, rather than an accident, but either way it was impressive.

  17. Tucker Carlson with Mike Benz on the Pavel Durov in France: it’s Made In The USA!

THIS is the most sinister and evil tale I may have ever heard revealed. Before Trump in 2016, the US exported free speech to advance our country’s interests.

But afterwards, the State Department flipped and embraced controlling speech, creating and managing censorship regimes became US international policy.

Trump and BREXIT, Modi in India, the rise of the Right in France, even in the Philippines — every populist movement everywhere must be stanched, controlled, stopped.

American Liberty is ended. Killed. Snuffed out — to advance the military-industrial-intelligence community state’s interests ONLY.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKBOrkk1FZE&t=1980s

I’m listening to only the first half and I am weeping. We have become the Satanic Destroyer of Liberty.
