  1. Masked assailants ransack Venezuela opposition leader’s headquarters as post-election tensions mount.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — A half-dozen masked assailants ransacked the headquarters of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado on Friday in the latest escalation of violence against opponents of Nicolás Maduro following the country’s disputed presidential election.
The raid occurred at around 3 a.m., Machado’s party said, adding that the assailants broke down doors and hauled away valuable documents and equipment. Images published by Machado’s party on social media show several walls covered in black spray paint.
The assault comes as top officials, including Maduro himself, have threatened to arrest the opposition leader, who has gone into hiding as she seeks to rally Venezuelans and the international community to challenge last Sunday’s election results.

The Biden administration has thrown its support firmly behind the opposition, recognizing last minute candidate Edmundo González as the victor, discrediting the official results of the vote proclaiming Maduro the winner.
The U.S. announcement late Thursday followed calls from multiple governments, including close allies of Maduro, for Venezuela’s electoral authorities to release precinct-level vote counts, as it has done during previous elections.

The electoral body declared Maduro the winner Monday, but the main opposition coalition revealed hours later that it had collected copies of 80% of the country’s 30,000 voting tallies and that they show González prevailed by a more than 2-to-1 margin.
“Given the overwhelming evidence, it is clear to the United States and, most importantly, to the Venezuelan people that Edmundo González Urrutia won the most votes in Venezuela’s July 28 presidential election,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.

Maduro responded with a quick admonishment: “The United States needs to keep its nose out of Venezuela!”

I can just hear the bat guano crazy lefties chanting, “Hands off Venezuela.” With Mexico’s President AMLO leading the chants.

The Biden Administration stopped the sanctions that Trump had imposed on Venezuela, in the hope that this would lead Venezuela to conduct clean elections. Had the Biden Administration instead informed Venezuela that sanctions would be lifted AFTER Venezuela held clean elections, results might have been different.

  3. Re: Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif: does he have penis or a vagina.

I know he has male chromosomes. And just look at him. As Austin Powers would say: “That’s a MAN, baby!”

  4. Kamala is evidently going to pick Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro for her VP, who is very well liked in PA and would probably give her the state.

  5. Venezuela:

The report this morning that Blinken has called for an international audit of the election worries me a lot. After the Obama/Biden years my mind immediately went to the idea that this has nothing to do with Venezuela, but is laying the groundwork for a similar call for international audit of our own election if Trump appears to win.

IrishOtter is right…the more dragonflies we have in our yard the better. Amazing, graceful, and useful predators that do not bother us humans at all.

    Yes, a thousand times yes.

I live in an area that’s plagued by mosquitoes. We get about twenty feet of snow every winter. In April and May, the mosquitoes breed everywhere on the snowmelt. Finally, in early June, the dragonflies arrive to feast on the mosquitoes, and people welcome them as if they were angels.

  7. If she ever gets out of the cocoon they’re keeping her in and has to handle open, unscripted questions, her polling results will take a dive. They are trying to run a Biden-like basement campaign.

  8. Im on the witness protection from mosquitoes so much appreciated

Yes the audit will go nowhere much like the attempts to investigate our own brouhaha

  9. Kate @1149

A hundred times yes. That is their emerging strategy. They know she’s a word salad maker when unscripted and by herself. Which also tells me there will be no debate between her and Trump. Certainly not the type of debate with Biden…no notes, etc; and check for that earpiece.

  10. So USA is officially siding with those who oppose Maduro.

    Doesn’t that make USA . . . [ gasp ] * Election Deniers * ?

    Who’d’a’ thunk??? [ snicker ]

By the way, Maduro is right:

“The United States needs to keep its nose out of Venezuela!”

  11. ninapodvssys Harris will pick Gov. Shapiro of PA to be her Veep. My X-pression source says circumstances indicate it could instead be Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the former social studies teacher.

“BREAKING: Gov. Tim Walz has announced the cancellation of his scheduled events for this weekend. The Governor was set to attend two county fairs, a high school football game, and go square dancing. The cancellations have been issued with no specific reasons provided.

    =============
If I were Harris, I’d be smart enough yo choose Harris instead of another non-entity. But that’s exactly what Biden did by picking her.

The BIGGER question is this: which one would make the VP the better puppet for the Obamunists of the Deep State to control? Any oligarch needs to know!

  12. Venezuela: PMC Wagner Mercenaries Spotted Among Local Police

A Russian mercenary of the private military company Wagner was spotted among Venezuelan police officers during protests against President Maduro.

It is unclear what specific tasks Russian mercenaries are performing in Venezuela. However, it is possible that they are serving as advisors or providing reinforcements to local forces.

It’s not the first time Russian mercenaries have been on assignment in Venezuela; according to Reuters, Wagner Group’s mercenaries were in Caracas in 2019 to provide security for President Maduro after protests against his regime.

    (Everyone stabs themselves 20 times)

Or the guy that let his capital city burn down its an embarassment of riches

  14. If Shapiro gets picked, the Democrats’ convention will be interesting

“State of play: A campaign called “No Genocide Josh,” reportedly led by left-wing activists, is pressuring Harris to reject Shapiro as her VP pick.

“It is in Harris’s and the Democrats’ best interests to … ensure that both their new VP pick and their platform support the majority of Democrats and Americans who want social and economic justice for workers and an immediate ceasefire in Palestine,” the group’s website says.
The campaign aims at Shapiro’s comparison of some pro-Palestinian protesters on college campuses to the Ku Klux Klan, as well as his opposition to a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
The site also goes after Shapiro’s support for private school vouchers and his office settling a sexual harassment case against a top aide.”

  15. Interesting, Bob Wilson. The “progressives” complain about Shapiro, and Biden says the assassination of Haniyeh “has not helped.”

  16. Democrats have no problem gaslighting, in fact that is the core of their approach. Maybe they will pick Shapiro as VP to keep Jews and moderate libs (or less rabid leftists) from defecting while continuing to bray about Palestine for the progs. Is that a viable strategy? When you’ve got the MFM and vote fraud on your side the bar is low.

  17. @Michael K:So far we have seen her slicing onions

In 2019 we saw her slicing onions. She’s not even slicing onions in the present day. They’re just recycling old stuff.

  18. Regarding Harris’ V.P. pick,

It is sad to type this:

When Obama ran in 2008 I heard quite a few people say he wouldn’t win because, “America would never elect a black President.”

I didn’t think his race would be an issue, if anything a positive.

How about a woman? Enough Americans are comfortable with the idea that the right female candidate can win.

The American electorate is mostly extrinsic characteristic agnostic these days.

However, I felt then, and still feel now, being Jewish* is the most difficult qualifier to overcome with the American electorate. Events of the past year have done nothing to change my mind. I do not think Harris will pick Shapiro.

*I still believe Romney’s LDS membership was a major factor in his loss.

  19. Harris and Biden are both pandering to the Muslim vote in the Upper Midwest. Why would Shapiro demean himself by running with such a person? Somewhere online I saw an X post asking why Harris agreed to run with someone whom she had declared a pro-segregation racist. Does Shapiro have principles?

  20. I doubt Shapiro would accept the VP slot. He wants to be POTUS. If he accepts the nod and Harris wins, he’s in a wasteland for possibly 8 years. If he accepts the nod and Harris loses, he becomes the next Tim Kaine. I think his political motivation will be to say he “was elected to serve the people of the great state of Pennsylvania blah blah blah” and run for POTUS in 4 years.

  21. Kate, “ Does Shapiro have principles?”

Well he is a Democrat. See this article about his waffling on school vouchers. During the election, he made a sudden conversion to being a supporter. Afterwards, when the teachers unions and other government unions pushed on him, he backed down. He put an impossible condition on them: that they do not reduce funding for government schools. That’s an impossible condition since the whole idea is to allow parents to pull children from them.

    See this article

“Shapiro did not publicly back creating a voucher program until his run for governor in 2022, according to a review of news articles and public statements he has made.

“He has tempered his position — deeply unpopular among many of his Democratic colleagues — by saying he will only support such a program if it does not take money away from public education.

“I think it’s very important that we fully fund public education,” Shapiro told reporters at a 2022 campaign event. “And I also think it’s really important that we empower parents to put their kids in the best place for them to be able to succeed.”

  22. Michigan Democrats like Islam because it dictates from the top (Allah) and Muslims kneel down in obedience 5 times a day, every day. That is what the non-democratic Democratic Party has become.

  23. Lately I’ve been watching YouTubes of Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), John Kennedy (R-LA) and Josh Hawley (R-MI) grilling Deep State types and blasting through their excuses and stonewalling.

Kennedy is a revelation. He plays that all-American, cornbread, common-sense, folk-wisdom lawyer archetype to perfection.

I didn’t know they made ’em that way anymore.

Folks, we have some real lions in the Senate. I don’t know how much that matters these days but I’m glad we have them.

  24. @ Gringo > “Masked assailants ransack Venezuela opposition leader’s headquarters as post-election tensions mount.”

I found the final sentence at your linked post to be almost worthy of the Babylon Bee:
“Later, Maduro and his campaign manager, National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez, attempted to discredit the tally sheets posted online by the opposition since Monday, arguing that they were missing signatures from the electoral council representative as well as poll workers and party representatives.

They didn’t acknowledge that soldiers, civilian militia, police and loyalists of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela, on Sunday blocked some opposition representatives from entering the polls, witnessing the vote, and signing and obtaining copies of tally sheets.

As for this quote –Maduro responded with a quick admonishment: “The United States needs to keep its nose out of Venezuela!” — I would like the US to keep everything out of Venezuela until it falls apart under its own socialist autocracy.

Remember that the Soviet Union would have self-destructed decades sooner if the US had not kept sending “humanitarian aid” that only served to prop up the Communists.

  25. Kate, you know better than to ask whether a Democrat has principles! Of course it may have been a rhetorical question…

It’s about damned time. What took you so long!?(Israel to build munitions factory)

Biden slow-walks munitions deliveries to Israel. Result: Israel decides to build its own.

Recall the arms embargo on Pinochet’s Chile. Result: By 1987, Chile developed its own arms industry and was exporting $400 million of arms a year. (James R. Whelan, Up From the Ashes, page 1046)

  28. Today I watched about 12 minutes of Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe giving a press conference. I decided to wait for someone else to do the shoe leather connecting dots and catching lies. This is the best I’ve found:

–“Jesse Watters: Secret Service makes ‘shocking admission’ after Trump assassination attempt”
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Yc-WTYPW_o

Basically it’s clear that SS has subjected Trump to malign neglect. The SS hasn’t provided a counter-sniper team to Trump for the past two years. Butler was the first time.

My spidey-conspiracy-sense tingles and makes me wonder if the counter-snipers were there to kill Crooks before he could be interrogated.

    Ahem.

Rowe can stare into the camera all he wants and tell us how sad and traumatized his SS employees are, but a good family man is dead, two others grievously wounded and President Trump would be dead but for a spontaneous twist of his head.

No thanks whatsoever to the Secret Service.

Whatever is going on at the SS, it looks to be even worse than we suspected.

  29. More on Rowe’s “shocking admissions” — now that his perfidy has been outed.

I wonder, Victoria, what do you know about the rumor that Butler, Pennsylvania was the first rally of Trump’s where they had counter-snipers, is that even possible? And of course a follow-up to that would be, how did they know that this was the one rally in 50 years or so that would need counter-snipers, but then asking that would imply that there might be a conspiracy afoot.

  30. How have the Ukrainians managed to survive a harsh winter and destruction of their towns & cities against the Russian invasion? It’s not the first time Russia has tried to destroy the Ukrainian identity, so maybe it’s the fear of history repeating itself.
