Acting Secret Service head Ronald Rowe is every bit as awful as Cheatle
Ronald Rowe is testifying today, and Legal Insurrection has many posts spotlighting his testimony. There’s this, this, this, this, and this.
The gist of it is, as Ted Cruz said, “Does the buck stop anywhere?”
Nope.
But we’ve seen this movie before, about any number of tainted government agencies: the FBI, the DOJ, the IRS, the Capitol Police, and more. And it’s obvious that getting rid of someone like Cheatle is just the tip of the messed-up (or worse) iceberg.

This is smelling like a Deep State plot, not so far as we know in on it but leaving holes to hope someone would get through.
The Deep State is abetted by corrupt and cancerous incompetence within the Alphabet Agencies. Who knew?
I don’t expect that there will be any firings or any actual accountability. They’ll just wait out the criticisms, weather the storm, and return to business as usual. While some individual agents may feel ashamed, and some may even resign, the leadership has no shame and will never be held accountable for their epic failure.
To me it’s pretty clear:
They.
Don’t.
Care.
They’re careerist filth who likely enabled the assassination attempt (and the murder of the poor rally attendee) by staffing Trump’s detail with inexperienced and overworked agents who obviously didn’t have the competency to guard a lemonade stand or properly coordinate with local LEOs.
We learned from today’s testimony that the USSS budget has increased substantially, but the number of agents on protective details has decreased. we have not learned if the number of Caribbean vacations for the top brass or the quality of Latin whores has increased, but the money must be going somewhere.
I can’t believe how bad this guy is.
Except I can.
The #2 guy from FBI lied about the shooters Gab account. He said it showed “antisemitism and anti-immigrant” beliefs, probably the FBI idea of a Trump voter. Shortly after the CEO of Gab posted the actual contents of the account showing the shooter was a Biden supporter. And pro-immigrant.
It was amazing to see GOP and Dem Senate and congress persons acting in concert today.
In spite of that, there is every indication that there will be no accountability or genuine reform. Certainly, Joe and Kamala will not take significant actions, which should be the source of action in the face of such resistance.
War is when the government tells you who the enemy is.
Revolution is when you figure it out for yourself.
Josh Hawley is one of my heroes these days. Blistering stuff. Rowe has no response except more CYA. “I won’t rush to judgment.”
It’s over two weeks later. It’s not that hard to figure out who was supposed to be where and why they weren’t. As I understand it, there were only a dozen or two SS agents involved.

Rowe can insist all he wants that he wants to find the truth. It’s obvious he is looking for the best cover story or hoping this dies down.
The Secret Service director to me today: a lot of people made a lot of mistakes but we won’t tell you who and we won’t fire anybody.

Yep.
MORE from the text posted by Dan Bongino’s favorite reporter on the SS — Susan Crabtree — shared by our host at the above LINK — BREAKING, sensational statement by a Secret Service Countersniper, breaking ranks and obedience BIGLY!
“EXCLUSIVE: A Secret Service counter sniper sent an email Monday night to the entire Uniformed Division (not agents) saying he will not stop speaking out until ‘5 high-level supervisors (1 down) are either fired or removed from their current positions.’
“The counter sniper also said the agency ‘SHOULD expect another assassination attempt’ before November and complained that he is no longer proud to be a USSS counter sniper after leadership failed the officers at the Trump rally in Butler on 7/13.
” ‘This agency NEEDS to change,’the sniper wrote in the email. ‘If not now, WHEN?’ The NEXT assassination in 30 days?”
Over at Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds posts a Senator Josh Hawley comment — as has huxley immediately above — on this dire situation and begging cheerleading him about quick legislative action to remove the SS of all it’s current presidential responsibilities, and give it to a different agency.
My suggestion is US Marshals.
When one federal agency becomes incompetent and corrupted you don’t fix it by moving its responsibility to another federal agency; you fix it by fixing the problem agency. Forcibly.
The other agency is just located on a different point on the spectrum of corruption and incompetence, but give it time, it will soon enough be found equally corrupt and incompetent.
Secret Service used to be in the Treasury Department, and it used to be solid. The leadership at USSS and at its Cabinet level, Homeland Security, is poor. Perhaps things would be no better at Treasury.
Kate:
Yes, that’s what I thought, SS was owned by Treasury. When did that change?
I remember the Michael Mann film “To Live and Die in LA”, William Peterson’s character was an SS agent going after counterfitters.
IrishOtter49, according to this, it moved in 2002 as part of the creation of DHS. Lindsay Graham and Dianne Feinstein tried to have it moved back in 2020, with Trump administration support, but the bill went nowhere.

The shift from Treasury was one of the evils of the Patriot Act. We are still paying dearly for that mistake.
Just because they failed to off Trump this time doesn’t mean they’re through trying. It’s similar to when the IRA tried to assassinate Margaret Thatcher: “you have to be lucky always, we need to be lucky just once.”
was Captain McClosky in charge?
I think the Treasury might be properly limited to preparing the budget, operating the payments system, and federal debt issues. The Mint and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing can be appended to the Federal Reserve, the financial sector inspectorates assembled in a dedicated department, and the revenue collectors in still another department. Leave the IRS with the responsibility for collecting income and payroll taxes and leave other taxes to specialized bureaux. Preparing the federal government’s general ledger and financial audits could be placed in a separate agency.

IMO, we might benefit if both the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security were dissolved and replaced with successor departments. Ditto the FBI and the Secret Service. One might handle the legal representation of the government; one the federal prison, jail, probation, and parole system; one security on federal property, cybersecurity, and dignitary protection; one investigation of offenses against federal law off federal property; and one a set of stationary services, pooled services, &c (border guard, point of entry inspectorate, crime labs, technical consultations, statistical collection, federal marshals). The Coast Guard might be incorporated into a department devoted to civil defense and disaster relief and the military would retain its MPs and inter-service investigatory agencies).
==
Two dreadful problems, however, are the federal penal code and federal rules of criminal procedures.
==
And, of course, the character of federal judges and prosecutors. Sacks of sh!t everywhere.
Secret Service used to be in the Treasury Department, and it used to be solid. The leadership at USSS and at its Cabinet level, Homeland Security, is poor. Perhaps things would be no better at Treasury.
==
It’s better IMO for departments and agencies to have a focus. That having been said, the problem to which you refer has to due with the decline in the character of the political class, the professional-managerial class, and the public in general. We’re not the people we used to be. The farther up the social scale you go, the more vertiginous the decline.

One way to look at the political parties is that the Republicans are the party of the passable (but commonly ineffectual) people and the Democrats are the party of criminals. Democratic voters countenance criminality.
How did the Secret Service miss this?
Newly released video.
https://notthebee.com/article/new-video-shows-trump-shooter-literally-running-across-the-roof-in-plain-sight
Yes, it really does seem to show that.
Is there such a thing as incompetence aforethought ?
AesopFan, I’m skeptical about that video. It shows the compression of a telephoto lens, but seems to show a normal lens perspective from the Copenhaver to Trump.
Also notice the perspective of the building behind the building the shooter fired from. It looks off.
Need to find another video from the audience’s perspective to tell for sure. If that was the position the shooter took, it looks like the exhaust stacks would have been in the way. The shooter’s position was about 20 feet from the parking lot end of the building, based on other photo’s taken later from overhead.
Peak Prosperity and Paramount Tactical YouTube channels are going to have a livestream together at noon PDT, discussing where their separate “citizen investigations” have taken them. Might be informative.
Brian – thanks for the information (so, the 72 hour rule still applies to each new “bombshell report”?)
Did you find out anything from the YouTubers?
