Some of our new arrivals coming across the southern border may have been planning an attack
Fancy that. Is anyone at all surprised? Even a smidgen?
I doubt it.
Eight people with suspected ties to the Islamic State have been detained in the U.S., according to several media reports.
The arrests took place in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, and the individuals entered the country through the southern border, anonymous sources told The Associated Press. They had been vetted by law enforcement upon their entry, sources said, and there was no indication of their ties to the Islamic State at the time.
You mean they weren’t carrying their ISIS IDs? Odd.
More:
Their connection to the Islamic State group is not immediately clear, but the individuals were being tracked by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was working with the JTTF and made the arrests, It’s now working to remove them from the country, per the sources.
I’m surprised that the Terrorism Task Force took a break from tracking conservative parents at school board meetings, old-fashioned Catholics, and anyone who ever doubted the 2020 election results, and paid some attention to these guys.
On the other hand, I have become so suspicious of the FBI that I wonder whether this is a case of entrapment. I don’t actually think so, but it is theoretically possible, because the administration might want us to think the FBI is more on the ball concerning actual terrorists in this country than it is. Again, I doubt it, because this story reflects poorly on the administration’s border policies, and that wouldn’t be desirable prior to an election.

The individuals were from Tajikistan and passed through the U.S. government’s screening process after entering the country last spring, the AP reported. …
The individuals crossed the border without proper documents and were released into the U.S. with notices to appear in immigration court. Law enforcement later became concerned with their presence and took action.
They had no documents. As Ace points out, professional smugglers at the southern border regularly advise people to burn their passports to avoid proper vetting, knowing that they’ll be let in. As these guys were. Nice going!
More:
They are in detention and face deportation proceedings now, but an official told CBS that it’s difficult to deport people to Tajikistan due to operational and diplomatic reasons.
How nice.
The article goes on to say that the FBI is aware of heightened terror threats especially since October 7. Actually, I think we’re all aware.
More:
Part of the investigation featured a wiretap which revealed one of the now-arrested individuals was talking about bombs, the sources said.
The concern involved an ISIS offshoot called ISIS-K, which stands for Islamic State Khorasan:
The bureau had been investigating whether dozens of migrants from Uzbekistan crossed the US-Mexico border with the help of a Turkish smuggler tied to ISIS, CNN reported last August. …
With migration continuing at unprecedented levels, federal authorities have already accidentally released migrants into the country who have suspected or known terror ties.
The article goes on to describe how weak Biden’s new order regarding the border is. The entire thing seems quite out of control and has been for a long long time.
I continue to look for the “not shocked face” emoji.
The Sword of Damocles is hanging by a thread over our fair country.
I’ll be very surprised if we don’t get the Beslan or Mumbai treatment here within 5 years.
Related anecdote, the other day I used a transit hub in San Diego called Old Town. I noticed a line of young foreign men waiting for the Flyer, a free shuttle bus from Old Town to San Diego International Airport. I took a photo of these men. What was unusual about them was how well behaved they were for border jumpers. About half were short, overweight guys from Central America, but much more fit than the usual ones I see, all with neat almost military haircuts, and dressed neatly in new sportswear. The other half were black, I don’t know if they were African, Haitian, American or whatever, similarly neat and well behaved.
The line didn’t move, there was no rowdiness or talking, again unusual for recent arrivals. I thought, this is very bad, these are specially trained young foreign men who are getting on airplanes, sponsored by our government. Liberals, please don’t ask me how I know they were foreign, I’ve lived in San Diego for a year and a half, I’ve lived in California for 40 years, and I spent a year and a half living and traveling in Mexico. I know what people look like. These guys weren’t Mexican, either, they were from farther south. Harder to tell with the black guys.

Or sooner. Difference is there didn’t appear to be many people in India or Russia rooting for the bad guys. Not sure how that will play out here, with 9-11 and various reax behind us.
Tadjiks were involved in that crocus stadium months back if memory serves

Look what we have here came through the dan diego crossing
I’m guessing that they are waiting until after the election to unleash their attacks. They must know that any attacks before the election by terrorists entering the country illegally would only help Trump to be elected. I’m sure our enemies would much prefer having that senile old fool Biden to deal with.
Democrats are allowing thousands of fit military age men from China and from countries on the terrorist watch list to cross over our southern border. That implies that democrats see a benefit for themselves in allowing terrorists easy access into the US.
Terrorist attacks after the election would only be of benefit, if the Democrats continue to hold the White House.
Widespread and ongoing terrorist attacks, before the election would provide a perfect rationale for declaring Martial law. Voting venues would be plausible targets, so it would be unsafe and thus ‘irresponsible’ to hold a national election… Of course, assurances would be made that the election would be held as soon as the ‘national emergency’ was over.
Geoffry is 100% correct, as is usual.
Let’s not forget what’s really important: some teens leaving skid marks on a pride flag painted on a street.
If our military recruitment goals are not being met;
and if legal resident aliens can get a leg up on becoming US citizens by enlisting in the military, perhaps even illegal aliens fit for military service will be allowed to join the US services.
I would not put this past the Biden cadre. Only real restriction might be the need for the enrollee to be able to understand military commands/ English.
ISIS-K is the group that claimed responsibility for the recent music hall attack in Russia.
”Voting venues would be plausible targets, so it would be unsafe and thus ‘irresponsible’ to hold a national election…”
Not a chance it happens this way. Our Constitution does not allow for postponing elections. There is no way the Democrats are going to steal power in such an obvious way in a nation of 100 million gun owners. They’ll be much more subtle than that.
Now, nationwide terror attacks a few days before the election forcing all jurisdictions to hastily go to all mail-in voting…that might work. But one way or another, there will be an election.
Justice is blind; and apparently so is ICE. Surprise!
MKent, you might be right, although it would take weeks at least to prepare, mail and receive ballots for mail-in voting. (Even as I typed that I realized that the obvious solution is simply to find friendly judges to rule positively on extending the cut-off date for mail-in ballots. Easy-peasy.)
Geoffrey, “…the election would be held as soon as the ‘national emergency’ was over.” I believe the “national emergency” for Covid remains in place more than four years after it was created. To paraphrase: we don’t need no stinking attack. Perhaps the CDC could put out a statement that cloth masks are 100% effective at preventing terrorist attacks.
After all’s said and done, just remember it’s Trump’s fault.
Jvermeer excellent observation. Those nasty teenagers committed a hate crime. I wonder if the PTB realized that any freshly painted pavement is an almost impossible to ignore temptation for any kid riding a scooter. Heck, I always go out of my way to drive on fresh paint. I’m either a normal person, a scofflaw or a hater of the various departments of transportation.
Trying to do the math here:
Figure ten million immigrants of the kind whose vetting is absent, incomplete or false.
One one-hundredth of one percent is one thousand, right?
That’s maybe 120 teams of eight, right?
Existing support networks…?
Okay. One thousandth of one percent….
You don’t even need to be trained or organized. See the Tsarnaev clan. Would have been far worse, many of those traumatic amputations would not have survived had it not been for the many first responders at a big event and the fab medical facilities in the city.
Learn to do a tourniquet one-handed and keep your eyes open, for the next, say, twenty years.
Arming is a separate subject.
And we all know who voted for it. About half of our fellow citizens.
}}} It’s now working to remove them from the country, per the sources.
“Remove them”? How about doing it at the end of a rope? Or in a chair. With an electrical connection?
SMH.
“Catch and release” is not a smart policy with terrorists.
“remove them”? Do we know where they are?
Respect for third world cultures.
