  1. That video makes me want to run over to Bob’s Clam Hut and get a bucket of them right now.

  2. also alaskan crabs can be so large, you might think you are on the other end of the food chain,

  3. Clams gots legs!!!! B.C.

In an era of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. I like to make a different comparison. The English used to have a law on sedentary libel. It’s one of the reasons we fought a revolutionary war. If you criticized the government, you could be prosecuted for sedentary libel. If what you said was true, that didn’t matter. Truth was not a defense because the greater the truth, the greater the libel. In other words, if what you were saying and criticizing the government was true, it brought them into greater disrepute, and we needed to prosecute you more.

That, ladies and gentlemen, I fear, is the step we’ve taken in this country. People that are simply shining a light on what went on and telling the truth about it are essentially being accused of sedentary libel. – John Eastman Esq.

    and so much more
    can’t stop things now…
    sadly

the event horizon for that passed quite a while ago…
    it cant be felt

but do note.. our decidedly younger ppl are not getting together at all
to the point that without replacements or rathher aguments, ppl may notice the collapse – or like you all.. just ignore it as its been the norm most of your lives.

    similar with what it means

like not having enough related human beings to vote what they learned growing up? more hints? nah…

    go back to sleep…
that way, everyone will claim that they never thought it would go that far, change that fast, and went that way

we are already saying the soviet line i posted a decade ago

“When will it be like it was?”

    never bubbelah…
people fiddled as rome burned feigning ignorance cherry picking truth

  4. so pondering the crumb, that the they dropped on the Times and The Post, how likely is that we would have better intelligence that the Israelis who have the plain clothed unit, the one featured in Fauda,

    1) its a trick
    2) they are paying Hamas commanders at the company level,

  5. Mike Plaiss, that WSJ editorial makes an excellent point. Ohio and numerous other states have laws against masked groups committing misdemeanors or crimes. These laws were anti-KKK measures, but surely apply as well to these masked campus agitators. Some charges and prosecutions would force students and outside forces to make themselves identifiable.

  6. replacement is most conveniently interpreted for a single-sex (female) population: replacement then means that one female generation replaces itself in the next generation. This condition is satisfied if 1,000 newborn female babies–that is to say, their survivors–give birth to 1,000 female babies over their lifetime; or, equivalently, if 1,000 women at age 15 have female births over their lifetime in numbers that yield 1,000 women survivors at age 15 in the next generation.

the period total fertility rate (TFR), refers, however, to a two-sex population: it includes both male and female births.

It is evident from the definitions above that the TFR, by itself, does not provide an unambiguous definition of below-replacement fertility. Yet a TFR of 2.1 is often referred to as the replacement level fertility.

replacement of the population would require that, in the complete absence of mortality, women on average have 2.05 children (i.e., 1,000 women would have to have 1,000 female births and 1,050 male births). The small difference between 2.1 and 2.05 allows for the effect of mortality [sans war of course]

TFR values lower than those indicated imply stable populations with negative growth rates

a TFR of 1.3 implies an annual decline of the population size by approximately 1.5 percent in a stable population with very low mortality levels. Such a decline implies a reduction of the birth cohort by 50 percent and a halving of the population size every 45 years.

    I know i know
    most are math illiterate…
anyone of the math guys here want to clue them in?

Small TFR differences become increasingly important when fertility is lower

Earlier notions that fertility levels may naturally stabilize close to replacement level have proven incorrect.

    think hard now

The TFR in the United States rose from a trough of 1.74 in 1976 to levels slightly above 2.05 in the late 1990s.

so we never replaced what we were losing when the dems hit us with war..
    or other increased deaths…

our population should have doubled not required 11 million economically destitute people who would take up arms against the citizens to stay and control the country

after all… we only have 2 million in our military
the other side has how many now?

oh… and if they wait a short time..
given what the numbers are now

  7. oh,
here is another fun one for the engineering types here

The Crescent Dunes plant opened outside of Las Vegas in 2015, became a flop!!!
and now, we have what in the desert they wont pay to remove?

the hail proof cells werent hail proof
The solar panels at a 5.2 megawatt solar farm in Scottsbluff, Nebraska were mostly destroyed by baseball-sized hail moving at 100 to 150 miles per hour at the end of June.

    and this is fun!! below!!!

Techren Solar Project is a 400 MW solar photovoltaic power plant near Boulder City, Nevada
Mesquite Solar Project is a 400 MW photovoltaic power plant in Arlington, Maricopa County, Arizona

Springbok Solar Farm is a 443 MW photovoltaic power station in the northwestern Mojave Desert in Kern County, California

Permian Energy Center is a utility-scale solar plus battery storage project with an installed capacity of 460 MWAC located in Andrews County, Texas The project has 1.3 million solar panels. 3,600 acre

Roadrunner Solar Plus Storage Project is the largest operational solar project in Texas. approximately 2,770 acres. This project is anticipated to generate 1.2 TWh annually

Desert Sunlight Solar Farm is a 550-megawatt photovoltaic power station. It’s about six miles north of Desert Center, California, in the Mojave Desert

Topaz Solar Farm is a 550 MW photovoltaic power station in San Luis Obispo County, California.

Solar Star is a Flat-panel 579 MW photovoltaic power station near Rosamond, California

Mount Signal Solar, also known as ‘Imperial Valley Solar Project’ is a flat-panel 794 MW photovoltaic power station west of Calexico, California

Copper Mountain Solar Facility is a Flat-panel PV 802 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Boulder City, Nevada. [The area of the site is 4,000 acres]

    but my favorite..
can all be taken out by a plane going in and out of mach 1

The width of the boom “carpet” beneath the aircraft is about one mile for each 1000 feet of altitude. An aircraft, for example, flying supersonic at 50,000 feet can produce a sonic boom cone about 50 miles wide The US banned civilian aircraft from reaching this speed over land in 1973.

from old military papers on average it covers 8 miles

    you dont need ordinance..
just fly up and down the east and west coast boing boing boing

    and suddenly we all starve.

and IF we had to actually fight..

lets imagine you have to protect the copper mountain solar facility
only 4000 acres – 6.25 square miles of glass!!!

100 to 3,000 pounds (45 to 1,360 kg) are average size shells.
    Discovery channel’s Mythbusters
They were trying to literally “knock the socks off” a mannequin by igniting 500 pounds of ammonium nitrate. But the explosion was a lot bigger than they expected.
Mythbusters told KCRA 3 they replaced a handful of broken windows

so a detonation miles away, can destroy power that cant be repaired or replaced till after a war and the enemy will sell us some

oh.. and if you think thats the only way

a few bus tickets, and 10 hand grenades by 10 people that came over the border
could take out all that power with a sinaloa donation

[one poitn you can glean is that the best engineers are not doing these projects… and so, do not care if they are possible workable, etc… they get a salary dont they? they get it until it fails, dont they? then why not take a salary for something that doesnt work? if your a good engineer, you know the answer. if your not a good one, you dont see a problem]

  8. now one might think would the government pay a hamas commander, well not that long ago, they paid ali salameh, one of Arafat’s chief aides, in the 80s, they apparently paid other officials of Fatah, to get information on Abu Nidal, how useful that info would be, your guess is as good as mine

  9. Razor clams are delicious, and fun to chase.
Chowder or fritters are great, but the best is fried clam steaks, eggs, and crisp hashbrowns for breakfast, in the morning after digging them.

  10. They are going to fix the problem they caused but refuse to fix the cause of the problem..

Child support payments would start with pregnancy under new bill from Alabama Sen. Katie Britt
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/child-support-payments-would-start-with-pregnancy-under-new-bill-from-alabama-sen-katie-britt/ar-BB1m6zPY

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama introduced a bill today that would require child support throughout pregnancy and create a clearinghouse of adoption and anti-abortion pregnancy crisis centers to combat decreasing birth rates.

Britt introduced the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Act (MOMS Act) alongside co-sponsors Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) and Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.). Britt said the bill is an effort to strengthen support for pregnant women and new moms.

“This legislation is further evidence that you can absolutely be pro-life, pro-woman, and pro-family at the same time,” Britt said.

“The MOMS Act advances a comprehensive culture of life, grows and strengthens families, and ensures moms have the opportunities and resources needed so they and their children can thrive and live their American Dreams.”

The bill comes amid a decline in birth rates in the United States. Only 3.6 million babies were born in 2023, the lowest number since 1979, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In a press release, Britt said she introduced her bill to support pregnant women and moms to reverse that decline. One major component would require states to extend child support obligations during pregnancy.

The bill would also boost support for pregnancy crisis centers by creating a clearinghouse called Pregnancy.gov with those centers and a list of adoption resources. These nonprofit clinics often offer free pregnancy tests and supplies for pregnant women. Critics have said they provide inaccurate medical information to dissuade women from seeking abortions.

Going to be harder given the men don’t want anything to do with ladies!!!
reminds me of soviet union with their feminism… ha ha ha ha… even with proof its ignored
Now there is a climate person thinking we should extermate people!!!!

    some headlines we ignore
How come the average guy doesn’t want to date anymore?

young guys say. “Dates feel more like job interviews now.
Much more like ‘What can you do for me and where is this going?’

it’s not just sexual activity that’s declining – young men in the US appear to have fallen out of love with romantic relationships. A recent Pew Research study has found that 63% of men under 30 describe themselves as single, compared with 34% of women in the same age bracket.

[ergo, they are walking disease carriers!!!]

61.4% of single men aged 18-34 do not have a girlfriend

and you get this kind of BS
Men want lasting relationships just as much as women do, but they fear that commitment means loss — most of all, the loss of masculinity.

    how about fear of jail
    fear of career loss
fear of loss of all friends and being homeless
fear of dropping the soap after she drops a dime

below imagine if no video exists, and then realize…
how can you tell and defend other than not getting involved given the crazy

    how crazy?
Woman hits herself to ‘frame husband for domestic violence’

Video of woman hitting herself in face brings abuse claims into question
    https://abc7.com/woman-hit-fiance-millionaire/1499008/

Attorneys for 45-year-old Scott Mitchell are releasing selected clips from his home security system to refute Hunt’s claims that her former fiance was abusive, giving her a black eye.

Mitchell’s attorney, Todd Foster, said, “There is no evidence that he ever beat her. This video now demonstrates that she is striking herself in the same area of the face and head that they allege Scott struck her.”

But Hunt’s attorney says Mitchell was abusive, and that the 29-year-old’s black eye was from an argument with Mitchell a week after the taped incident.

Mary Hunt’s attorney, Barry Cohen, said, “Scott is a manipulative psychopath and he emotionally and physically abused her. Mary was just in a fit of rage that day because Scott told her she couldn’t go to a yoga class because he was upset she was calling off the wedding.”

Hunt’s lawyer points to another video of Mitchell as evidence of his hot temper in which Mitchell is shown telling Hunt to get out of his house.

    LOOK at trumps case
E Gene Carrol claimed that she was abused by trump in an empty bergdorf goodman store wearing a donna karan dress that had not been made yet!!!! (Says D Karan). she has no proof…

the law was changed a short time so that she could do that

    AND NOW!
its getting cuba gooding, russel brand, and over a dozen celebs
and the prosecutor who helped change the law, well, he has some 30 year old issue so its going after him too

anyway… 83 million is not worth it

the only way to win, is not to play

This is so fun to watch!!!!!
    it hit feminist russia first!!!!

Russia’s population could drop to 130 million by 2046 due to declining immigration numbers and low birth rates
Russia’s declining population trend has mainly been offset by a net influx of people from Central Asia.
The continuing decline of the Russian population since 1991 is becoming an issue in the run-up to protracted fighting in Ukraine.

National Vital Statistics System, United States, 1940–2018
    https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/figures/mm6901a5-F.gif
[wow… been below replacement since the 1970s… and we been importing people to h ide it! ]

The TFR generally declined for the birth cohort referred to as Generation X from 2.91 in 1965 to 1.84 in 1980.

For the birth cohorts referred to as Millennials (Generation Y) and Generation Z, the TFR first increased to 2.08 in 1990 and then remained generally stable until it began to decline in 2007. By 2018, the expected number of births per women fell to 1.73, a record low for the nation.

Except for 2006 and 2007, the TFR has been below the level needed for a generation to replace itself (2.10 births per woman) since 1971.

    This is hysterical..
regardless of what you hope, nothing will come out
they got the west to self exterminate
and they got the people of the west to ignore it!!!!
not realize what it actually is and what it means

you cant get this fertility up even if you pay women to have kids!!!!

not to mention that the ladies are such a major disgusting turn off, is it any wonders Only fans has taken over the porn industry as individual ladies debase themseves in a race to the bottom to pay rent..

i am too old to give a crap any more
so i am just going to enjoy it
being upset is not good for advanced age!
and obviously, if people didnt care when it mattered, why should i care now its a done deal

  11. well how do the numbers compare with western and eastern europe,

  12. Brandon and his junta F up everything they get close to, it’s a feature, intentional.

  13. Abortion advocates are not content to just scream and shout about pro-life laws protecting babies from abortion. They are taking their protests even further by sterilizing themselves. Last month, medical researchers published a paper analyzing data on “permanent contraceptive procedures” among 18- to 30-year-olds. As LifeNews has previously reported, liberal men are getting vasectomies in record numbers to protest abortion bans across the country in the wake of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Liberal women are getting tubals as well to avoid having to deal with aboriton bans they oppose. And that likely means fewer abortions.

  14. Not as weird as geoducks. Ugh. I couldn’t bring myself to eat one. Even though it really is like a HUGE clam.

  15. Something I miss about Howard Johnson’s The Fried Clams. I loved them. A bit like eating rubber bands that had been battered and deep-fried. But I still loved ’em.

  16. True, but Egypt and Turkey are at odds, at least last time I checked,

oddly Tony Podesta was a lobbyist for Egypt, sans certification yet that didn’t matter, really,

  17. OK, my comment series on murderers I served time with didn’t go well – second comment was a disaster, but the Mafia hitman/murderer Tony Esperti did OK, i.e., no complaints on it. Don’t believe Richard “Ricky” Cravero was a Mafia member, but he led a “Dixie Mafia” gang in the South Florida area. Most of the others were black dudes who had murdered their girl friends for various reason. There was at least one more ‘Monster’, but am done on that comment series.

‘Cut the Cable’ series will be OK here. 🙂 When I ‘Cut the Cable’ about 12-14 years ago, the outside TV antenna was left in place in case it was needed during a national emergency. I had a bunch of VCR recorded movies, and a bunch of DVDs recorded on a Magnavox DVD recorder, VCR recorder & a tuner. Built a 9-shelf unit – holds like 405 standard DVDs, the other unit holds about 200. As I purchased new movies, and series like Game of Thrones, Justified, etc. I moved the older recorded DVDs into Innovera 39502 cases w/ 150 disc capacity. They were big & bulky so only fit on top shelf.

The 9-shelf unit is now down to about enough space for 90 more standard size DVD cases, with the Innovera cases removed from the top shelf—to another area in my humble HUT. The Blue Bloods series just purchased came with 13 DVD cases!? Doesn’t look like a great series, so I want to shrink those 13 cases (8.25” ‘n about 78 DVDs) down.

Enter the SANWA 120 Large Capacity File CD Case. 4.45” wide, but smaller versions were unavailable – have a few other average series which will be added to the case, and free up more space. Will have to also lower the lower shelf about ¾” to fit the 11.02” height in—may also lower another shelf or two since these series cases can be taller that an average DVD case. Purchased two of these cases @ $15.99 each—one for future possibilities.

  18. Re: Howard Johnson’s

I remember the HoJo Satellite Sparkler Sundae for $1.75 circa 1964. It came with a real lit sparkler stuck onto the top and throwing off all those crazy electrical sparks.

A very special treat my grandmother would occasionally bestow.

    Heigh-ho. Halcyon times.

  19. }}} Enter the SANWA 120 Large Capacity File CD Case.

Just as a note — DVDs have an approximate life span of about 20 years. Yup. They decay.

It feels like that’s a long time, but some of my recorded DVDs, and, yes, some commercial DVDs, are, in fact, that age… I’ve had a DVD burner since about 2004 (I’ve had a CD burner since 1997)

I’ve found stuff that just won’t play any more. 🙁

Just be aware, and re-burn any media that are getting over 15 years.

We should probably file a class-action suit to make the media producers offer replacements at-cost. I see no justification for why anyone should have to pay twice for the same IP.

  20. I’ve found stuff that just won’t play any more.

    Obloodyhell:

Absolutely. When I burned stuff in the 00s I thought it was close to forever, but I was a mere lad in my 50s. I did rip a lot of DVDs to mp4s, so they live on on multiple hard disks.

Personal data, however, back up early and often and on multiple media.

  21. }}} Huxley: I remember the HoJo Satellite Sparkler Sundae

I recall being in Chicago with my father ca. 1970, and there was a place there called Lockwood’s Castle. They had something called Lockwood’s Mountain.

It was on the northwest corner of Devon and Central Avenues (5400 West Devon) in Chicago, per this:
    https://drloihjournal.blogspot.com/2018/05/lockwood-castle-restaurant-and-ice-cream-parlor-chicago-illinois.html

It was essentially a mixing bowl with something like 28 scoops of ice cream in it (The article says 24, but that has a different name, and one of the comments suggests it morphed at various times). I have a copy of the menu that my father managed to get for me, somewhere. I’m sure it says how many scoops were involved. I think the price was something like five bucks, but no idea if that is even vaguely accurate.

I and my two younger cousins were there, and my dad and theirs offered to buy it, if we could finish it off.

We pretty much managed it, between the three of us. I think our dads helped some, but we seriously had at it, and did most of the damage ourselves.

  22. ObloodyHell; huxley: (NOTE: am learning punctuation from Neo! 🙂 )

First, thanks for the info & tips!

I did convert all my music CDs to WMA File – some got converted to MP3 somehow—not sure if any got converted to MP4. Don’t really know much about converting stuff, seems I put the CD in and copied it to a DATA HDD and later to another DATA SSD. I backup all my DATA (music included) about once a month—to 3 different Drives. Create a system image about once a week of my Win11 Pro OS drive using “Windows Backup and Restore (Windows 7)”. Building my own computers, I keep main DATA Drive separate from OS drive, as personal choice.

Converted all my old videos to DVD using the Magnavox VCR-DVD, but quality looks so bad on new TVs that I only watch them when desperate. TV movies recorded to DVDs using the Magnavox are still good if I use the Magnavox to play them, but most get trimmed down or reformatted (???) if I use the Blu-ray players. Will probably let all of them fade away rather than trying to save them.

Newer movies are from 2011 to now, and series are probably from around 2019 to now (after trying series – they are what I’ve been buying since around 2019, w/ an occasional movie).

I’ll start moving newer movies and series to disks now – sounds like the way to go, to protect the investment in them. Maybe test if a movie can then be copied from a DATA disk to a USB and plugged directly into the TV or Blu-ray player.

  23. Mariner Josh Rojas just hit consecutive foul balls that were caught by the same fan in left field. I have not seen that before.

  24. Karmi:

Psst. You didn’t hear it from me, but some people use Red Fox AnyDVD to decrypt DVDs, then Handbrake to convert them to mp4s or video format of choice. There’s a Blu-Ray option too.

There are video card capture options as well.

  25. ”I’ve found stuff that just won’t play any more.”

Same here. One of the reasons I bought DVDs to replace my old videotapes is because I thought they would last longer. No dice. A sizable fraction of the DVDs (and CDs) I’ve tried to play recently just won’t play.

Strangely, I recently found the old 5-1/4 inch disk from 1981 containing all of the programs I wrote in junior high. The disk still reads and the programs still run just fine. And here I thought it would be magnetic media that would be problematic.

Karmi: One of my projects this fall is to set up a Linux box with a media library. I hope you stick around ‘til then. 😉

  26. huxley; mkent:

Woke a little after 2:00am EST and I couldn’t get back to sleep—very unusual for me. Anyway, up now, and checked The New Neo and y’all had left *VERY* interesting comments.

huxley: will check those 3 suggestions out (that I didn’t hear from you) – do have a video card capture device that I never figured out, so maybe it’ll work on something like this. Thanks!

mkent: I should be around unless Neo bans humble me. Would be very interested in seeing how you set that Linux box up. That could definitely be the way to go. Have seen such referred to as a Linux media server, Linux box media center, open source media server, etc. Just never felt a need for a server or such, tho after realizing that these CDs & DVDs & Blu-ray discs don’t actually last “forever” I am open to all suggestions.

At my discontinued Linux blog – did a post: “Turn Old Unused Computer into a Jukebox or Music Server w/ VortexBox Linux – ‘Special *PURPOSE* Linuxes’”. Didn’t try to build one myself with VortexBox, but wrote about it in a ‘Special *PURPOSE* Linuxes’ series – a series about all the ways Linux can be used.

  27. “But Egypt and Turkey…”

Hey, when it comes to saving Hamas…
    (AND/OR…if there’s enough money in it….)
    – – – – – – – – –

    “…same fan…”
Amazing. Should have immediately stepped out and bought a lottery ticket….

  28. Just noticed that my recorded movies were made on maxell DVD-R. Am seeing Average longevity at “50-100 years” for those. Anyone with experience on those?

  29. Karmi:

You must be seeing far into the average future of failure. Fountain of youtes finally found?

  30. Karmi– Why cut the cable when you are going to go purchase all that content on CD/VHS/etc? All you are doing is giving yourself the ability to watch stuff when you want instead of on the network’s schedule. Ninety percent of the content you are storing is as mind numbing and inaccurate as the news you are not watching.

    Just curious.

  31. Another+Mike

Cable is expensive, here anyway — choices are Dish or DirecTV. I already had the amp, speaker bar + woofer, 5 + 1 surround speakers, DVD recorder, and 2 Blu-ray players.

If I store any of what I have, it’s only movies and series — what is “mind numbing and inaccurate” about movies & series?

Just bought 13 seasons of Blue Bloods for $85.49 including tax. That would be slightly over a basic Dish or DirecTV monthly payment here.
