Got a late start today
I had a bunch of personal stuff to do, and then got sidetracked by a lengthy phone call with a friend.
So now I’m back to business.

Boss…I know…you know…a friend is rarely a sidetrack.

John Guilfoyle:
Good point.
In many cases you can be closer to your friends than some members of your family. You get to pick and develop those friend relationships; the others are simply determined by genetics, marriage, and chance.
Also interesting that sometimes people just “click” almost upon meeting, while for others it takes an extended time learning about someone to develop affection for them, even beyond whatever respect they might deserve from the get-go.
Can you have too many friends, such that you don’t really have enough time for them, or can they be someone with whom even short sessions are high quality and good enough? Clearly folks have a range of sociality and the ability to handle a wide range of close, medium, and more distance relationships.
Also sad to consider that our politics has now become so corrosive that some previous decent friendships are breaking up or just dissolving away.
