Biden is thinking about (or his aides are thinking about) pulling the weapons plug on Israel — 50 Comments

  1. This totally p****s me off.

I do know that the world screwed over Israel in ’67, ’69, and ’73. There were arms embargoes set in place, ostensibly embargoing all arms sales to the Middle East, but really just Israel, since the Arab World mostly was supplied by the Soviet Union. DeGaulle refused to deliver jets Israel had already paid for.

I know that for forty years, a sizable portion of the Israeli population has voiced the opinion that Israel needs to make sure she is fully independent of her so-called “allies” — that she can’t ever rely on them.

  2. Related…all rather shockingly….
Yes, even more shocking than Canada’s moral implosion (which, truth to tell, isn’t all that shocking when one considers the benighted leadership, so-called…. (Nonetheless, where Trudeau goes, can “Biden” be far behind?…)

  3. Caroline Glick Show, “Biden, Schumer and the plot to overthrow Netanyahu”, (46:50): https://youtu.be/QulZHMYt2zg?si=BnPzhyfRgB5HTQxc

Wait til you hear what Caroline says about the General officers (Ret) in Israel backing the insanity known as Biden’s strategy. Israel’s true difficuty is as much an internal matter as one dealing with outsiders’ pressures. And apart from the Israeli people’s apparent resolve to fight, I don’t see motion to cleanse their upper echelons. So, pending, I guess?

  4. remember that miss freeland seems to the one running this corner of oceania,

  5. Hey, it looks like we can all breathe a sigh of relief: “Biden” says that “his” Blustery Bibi-Bashing- is only transitory…

Meanwhile, it looks like Biden and his extraordinary family communicated with one another using aliases because they, no doubt, believed that doing so would provide greater transparency.
No word yet about establishing all those off-shore corporations, but, yeah, greater transparency is sure to be the likely reason for that, too.

    Nevada leading the way!
    Huh? Nevada?
“RNC Files Election Integrity Lawsuit Against Nevada Secretary Of State”—
    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/rnc-files-election-integrity-lawsuit-against-nevada-secretary-state
    Opening grafs:

The Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Nevada GOP have sued the Nevada Secretary of State, accusing the state’s top elections official of undermining voter confidence by failing to follow federal law on the proper maintenance of voter rolls.

The RNC filed its complaint on March 19 at the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, accusing Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar of failing to keep voter rolls accurate, in violation of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

“Election integrity starts with clean voter rolls, and that’s why the National Voter Registration Act requires state officials to keep their rolls accurate and up-to-date,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement.

‘Easier to Vote and Harder to Cheat’
The NVRA requires that states maintain accurate and current voter registration rolls for federal elections. But the RNC said in its complaint that a half dozen Nevada counties have implausible voter registration rates.

“At least three Nevada counties have more registered voters than they have adult citizens who are over the age of 18,” the complaint reads. “That number of voters is impossibly high.”…

  6. as a fmr sayaret commando, bibi knows a rattlesnake when he sees one,

could we stop pretending this stuffed scarecrow knows anything as for his penzance crew, thats a whole nuther matter,

remember the Secretary of State project,

  7. To live and die for ideology, these poor people,
these people ( the left) can go to hell!

  8. “The official reportedly raised concerns over the availability of 155mm artillery shells and 120mm tank shells.”

It’s been obvious for some time that production of these munitions needed to be ramped way, way up, given what’s been going on in Ukraine. A serious administration would have initiated something on the order of what Britain did during WWI to cope with the shell crisis.

“wondered how long it took for Israel’s Defense Ministry to sign a contract with Israeli defense firm Elbit to produce substitute shells”…I doubt they have the machine tools and other production equipment necessary for high-volume shell production…such things would probably have long leadtimes to acquire, even assuming that the producing countries didn’t embargo those items.

  9. Biden is worried about re-election. But there might be issues with Jewish donors if he pulls support. His dilemma is the fact his base is pro-Hamas and many in his donor class is pro-Israel.

  10. David Foster,

As I understand it under Obama Israel was promised US arms but under condition they buy from us and that shut down much of their arms industry.

Perhaps the intent was to put them on a short leash.

  11. Port Of Hope – Part II: The Peaceful Future Of The Israel-Palestinian Conflict Depends On Ousting Qatar From Any Involvement In It

I read that MEMRI article today, but didn’t bother linking to it here – because it bashed Netanyahu more than I could stomach. Example:

What Connects Biden And Netanyahu Is Far More Than Their Political Differences – And That Is Qatar

One is from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s years-long collaboration with Qatar and, through it, his facilitation of the flow of billions of dollars from Qatar to Hamas-ruled Gaza.

The other is from the American administration’s collaboration with Qatar as an ally, while in reality Qatar is an enemy of the U.S.

Netanyahu did not even respond to the blatant attacks by Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Dr. Majed Al-Ansari, who praised Hamas’s missile attacks on Israeli cities. In fact, Netanyahu rarely mentions Qatar – only Iran.

    What as mess…

  12. Two could play this game.

Israel could immediately suspend all internet security software protections from countries suspending arms shipments.

The results would be … dramatic.

  13. Pentagon official: US Defense Secretary will host Gallant next week — Pentagon official says Secretary Lloyd Austin will host Defense Minister Yoav Gallant next week for a bilateral meeting at the US Defense Department.
    https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/387030

The meeting comes after Austin recently invited Gallant for a visit, the official added.

The US official also noted that meeting between Gallant and Austin is separate from Monday’s announcement, after a call between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who agreed to send a team of senior officials to Washington to discuss developments regarding the war in Gaza […]

Biden, commenting Monday on the conversation he held with Netanyahu, wrote on social media that the two discussed the latest developments in Israel and Gaza.

“I continued to affirm that Israel has a right to go after Hamas, a group of terrorists responsible for the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust. And I reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire as part of a deal to free hostages, lasting several weeks, so we can get hostages home and surge aid to civilians in Gaza,” Biden said.

“I asked the Prime Minister to send a team to Washington to discuss ways to target Hamas without a major ground operation in Rafah,” he concluded.

    Garbage people, these Bidenettes.

  14. Paraphrasing the WSJ this morning – all foreign policy is ultimately domestic policy. Don has it right. This is all about the election. With a scapegoat they believe they can retain both Arab and Jewish votes. That scapegoat is Netanyahu.

  15. If the arms support is stopped and Israel is forced to stop eliminating Hamas, Hamas will rearm, regroup and with Hezbollah attack again with Iranian support and Oct 7 looks like a picnic, what will these fine people do? Is it any wonder that other countries are decoupling from the vapid US. The world is going to be a very violent place.

  16. Oddly enough this might be good for Israel, they will have learned (with certainty) that relying on someone else is rarely good.

  17. @ Sennacherib > “relying on someone else is rarely good”

The Jewish nation, in its various incarnations, has had to learn that repeatedly throughout their history.

Psalms 146:3-5 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  18. Chucky’s statement isn’t such a one time outburst after all, taking away Israelis ability to defend itself will accomplish the same result Chucky clamoring for.
Either way it saves Hamas to fight another day.

  19. 30,000 dead Palestinians, almost all civilians, and 70.000 wounded Palestinians, again almost all civilians. Genocide by famine.

The European colonial project in Palestine must be ended, and the Ashkenazi must return to their European homelands.

  20. It amazes me that a significant portion of our country has fallen hook, line, and sinker for Hamas propaganda. Even if you go to Volokh and read the comments on Bernstein’s articles, you see a lot of emoting about right wing members of Bibi’s cabinet – as justification for cutting off aid or imposing a ceasefire. It’s literally nuts. These people (for the most part) aren’t calling on Hamas to surrender, which would end the war by lunch time. I’m afraid Bernstein is right. These people want Israel to lose. What an insane world we live in.

    https://reason.com/volokh/2024/03/17/ive-won-an-argument-about-israel-i-wish-i-hadnt/

  21. And the Sepharadi? Where ya’ gonna send them?

(Was wondering under which rock you were lurking.
I had thought perhaps that you were too intelligent to merely spout and regurgitate Hamas propaganda. Guess I was wrong… By the way, tell me, if you can, you who are so well-informed: how many Hamas fighters are included in those truer-than-true numbers you “quoted”?)

  22. And to meet my quota 😉 – How about Trump recycling Biden’s “you ain’t black” line with respect to Jewish people?

That’s one of the things that just infuriates me about Trump and his supporters. Until about three days ago, Biden’s “you ain’t black” line was a disgusting example of racial patronizing that was proof of how arrogant and corrupt Democrats have become. But now that Trump has done it, those critics have either been silent or are attacking the press and the left for hypocrisy. (The press is in the tank for the left? Really? Is water wet?)

That seems to be Trump’s MO. He uses the abuses of the left as a “how to” manual and then whines about the double standard when he is called out or punished for things that leftists got away with. You can prove a double standard by going out and replicating the bad behavior of your opponents. The right can (accurately) wail about the double standards and hypocrisy of the left. The end result, however, is that the right becomes the very hypocrites and normalizes the very bad behavior that they once criticized.

I’m sorry, I just don’t see how that is a win, for the right or for the republic.

  23. bob sykes – Even putting the accuracy of Hamas propaganda aside, Hamas and the Palestinians in Gaza chose this war. War is hell. If you don’t want one, don’t start one.

  24. Qatar is a curious player they are going for the unity team of salafi and shia its where abu mazen went to work for a time they give chechens quradawi sanctuary.

  25. I guess it’s an obsession.
    Sigh.
Not much one can do about it…

    File under: Bauxed in.

  26. When one is planning to steal the election (again) with fake mail-in ballots there is no longer a need to cater to Democrat special interest groups such as American Jews.

  27. And a nauseating peek into what passes these days as American higher education…

  28. Israel makes a lot of its own weapons so what sort of arms can Israel possibly buy from Canada?

  29. Bob Sykes all your statistics are rubbish but putting that aside, Hamas started this war and as the saying goes “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”.

  30. @Bob Sykes

30,000 dead Palestinians, almost all civilians, and 70.000 wounded Palestinians, again almost all civilians.

Firstly: got any proof for that?

And no, the provably false totalitarian propaganda coming out of the Gaza “Health Ministry” and its puppets do not count as proof. Indeed, they are proof only of how the Nazi Era German Red Cross has been well and truly shown up in terms of a supposed medical or healthcare organization completely betraying its nominal purposes in subservience to totalitarian state terrorism and racial propaganda.

And I do not say that lightly. The German Red Cross in the Third Reich was hideously corrupt, militarized, and perverted to the Nazi cause, with ideological filtration to find “true” National Socialists as well as tacit complicity in a host of Nazi atrocities.

BUT EVEN HITLER DID NOT HAVE THEM MAINTAIN COMMAND BUNKERS OR TORTURE CENTERS RIGHT INSIDE HOSPITALS, compare Al-Shifa. And even most of the Nazi era inflation of German and Axis civilian casualties did not originate with the Red Cross (nor did their WWI predecessors), with things like the infamous Dresden death toll fraud coming straight from Goebbels.

I have literally no reason to trust these people and neither do you.

Secondly: even if I completely ignored all that and accepted the obviously bullshit numbers peddled by totalitarian liars as fact…… have you considered Hamas’s totalitarian militarization of all society in Gaza and deliberate efforts to raise civilian casualties is at fault?

Thirdly: “Civilian” is used too sloppily. Technically Osama Bin Laden was a Civilian, even if he was also a mass murderer and explicitly paramilitary international terrorist. So I’m going to need breakdowns of those.

Fourthly: how many have died not many nations and cultures because of Hamas’s genocidal terrorism, intentionally al targeting civilians for rape, murder, and kidnapping? And what of wider “Palestinian” terrorism going back to at least 1929?

By your omissions and who you support, you reveal very clearly you do not object to the killing and wounding of civilians, even innocent ones. Even when done intentionally as Hamas does. You object to Hamas being punished for such actions and facing the prospect of destruction. That makes you an apologist for and advocate of genocide and terrorism.

    Genocide by famine.

Up until this sentence I was willing to at least entertain the possibility you were just staggeringly stupid and ignorant. But this underlines how you are in fact peddling blood libel with malice aforethought.

We know what Genocide by Famine looks like, and literally nothing in the latest Hamas war resembles it….. EXCEPT IRONICALLY HAMAS’S VIOlENT CONFISCATION AND HOARDING OF WHAT AID IT CAN, DEPRIVING IT FROM THE POPULACE AT LARGE.

If the Israelis truly wished to implement genocide by famine, they would have moved to shoot down any foreign aircraft like the USAF planes dropping aid, worked to cut off or blow up any new pier construction, and generally worked to destroy sources of nutrition. That hasn’t happened.

Moreover; as lying scum like you pointedly do not address, any successful such plan would require connivance from the Egyptians. Which you do not address because you cannot.

The European colonial project in Palestine must be ended, and the Ashkenazi must return to their European homelands.

This is what we call actual genocidal blood libel.

Firstly fuckhead: Israel doesn’t just contain Ashkenazi. As you would know if you studied groups like the Baghdadi Jews (who not coincidentally were genocided in an offshoot of the Holocaust by the spiritual father of the Arab “Balestinian” cause, Amin Al-Husseini, and a Fascist Iraqi junta that took power in Iraq for about five hours before the British came back in and crushed them), the Beta Israel, and a host of others. Most of whom were genocidally purged from their homes throughout the Middle East by the Arab League.

Are you willing to support their return back to their non-European homelands? And under what military guarantees including troops do you propose that to happen to make sure they do not get genocided again?

Secondly: the “European colonial project” is in just about every way morally, practically, economically, and legally superior to the Arab Colonial Projects that dominated the Levant for the past 1,500 some years. And I dare you to try and counter that in any kind of substantial fashion.

Thirdly: are you ignoring how the Israeli War for Independence spent much of its time fighting against the British colonial authorities? Of course you are…

  31. that is a striking level of category error there bob, maybe he read that ridiculous round up, that quillette had fisked,

if he brings up the King David Hotel, I would bring Operation Agatha, conjured by Evelyn Barker, who was the closest thing to General Dyer in the Levant, while he was squiring Kay Antonius, ahem, the film version of Exodus was rather light on the practices the occupation forces engaged in, and well the Grand Mufti is not referred to at all

  32. now does npc bob live in texas, or california, or any place west of the missisippi, then those were all settlements, goose for the gander, the Arabs did much like Santa Ana did or the Beys in North Africa, they mess with the bull and got the horns, in Santa Ana’s case each time he went to war, Mexico lost more territory, after the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, the authorities decided not give him any more leeway, he was in exile in Cuba at the time, otherwise we own most of Northern Mexico now, this was also around the time, where certain parties including Rufus Devane King took a gander at annexing Cuba, and the Dominican republic, for good measure,
as memory serves they wanted to make them slave states, this is part of what Buchanan was laser focused so he kind of missed Harper’s ferry and the DEgringolade that would become the Civil War,

  33. The Caroline Glick video was excellent.

Israeli intel had indications of the Oct 7 attack but leadership within the (anti Bibi) intel community sat on it.

  34. I see Bob Sykes has taken time off from Putin cheerleading to anti-Semitism.

Wasn’t Ukraine supposed to be defeated by now, Bob?

  35. Kate:

Whether or not Sykes actually believes the Hamas figures he cites is an open question. But he will use them if he can attack Israel and Jews with them. That’s the ground on which many on the left and some on the far right come together

  36. As soon as you get off the Native American land you’re trampling on bobbi but the majority of Israeli Jews who are Sephardic and Mizrahi can stay.

  37. CC™ takes time out to pursue The Great Orange Whale.

bob sykes has his own little protocol to advance as does the left.

  38. Neo,

It’s quickly devolving into ” He might be a SOB but he’s my SOB!”

  39. Israel is not dependent on the USA, but their high and increasing standard of living is. Plus their own sense of moral superiority. Or senses, from both the pro- and anti- Bibi sides of internal, very unstable, Israeli politics.
How many elections in the last 5 years, or 10?
Their instability is my biggest reason to oppose Proportional Representation with coalition governments, that can and do fall apart when one of the partners leaves the coalition, as also happens too often in Slovakia.

Israel knows some of the hostages are already dead, and many ( most? Almost all?) will not be released alive. They don’t want to be the oppressor occupiers of Gaza, but most other options are worse.
Maybe with 100,000 US soldiers to “stop all war crimes by both sides”—nobody wants that, either (almost).

They should be doing better occupation and rebuilding in N, Gaza, says, confidently advising to something very difficult—because there seems nothing else being offered or discussed.

Clan rule? Ha! Any clan that works with Israel first becomes a target for all the other clans. Tho maybe Israeli forces will allow som clan fighters to revenge kill “Hamas”, tho all killed will be labeled as Hamas.

  40. Tom Grey: “their own [Israelis] sense of moral superiority”

Sounds rather arrogant of them, no? Until you consider the competition …
