Ronna McDaniel is finally stepping down — 13 Comments

  1. Whatley has certainly been effective in NC. I don’t know if that carries forward to the RNC. Apparently the RNC has to elect a new leader; will Harmeet Dhillon try again? And why on earth did Trump’s people lobby for McDaniel at the last RNC election?

  2. Dhillon is the logical choice. She got 51 out of 168 votes in 2023 even after Trump endorsed McDaniel. As usual, Trump selects anyone who will butter him up.

  3. Another website is saying she may not be resigning based on an email she sent out. It is Steve Bannon saying that, so take it with a grain of salt…

Why not have term limits to this position with review points on effectiveness every two years? If the person is not producing, then cut ties before they get too far into the next election cycle. But, at the end of 8 years, the person is out and fresh faces are in the organization.

  4. I met Harmeet Dhillon a million years ago. Really liked her.

I get tired of RNC chair people who are useless. I’m not sure if it is because useless ones keep getting the job, or there is something inherent about the job that renders them useless. It’s almost as of they’re undercover DNC operatives.

    Sigh.

  5. I think he’s got a good chance to be effective. Tillis was a mistake, though not of his doing, but the rest are OK. And our Lt Governor is good; we hope to make him Governor next year.

  6. Yes, Harmeet Dhillon a million times!!
    If only I could vote.
She’s smart on so many levels! Watched her on Fox News shows many times. She seemed to disappear after losing the RNC chair to McDaniel.
I still wonder how much better the 2022 midterms could have been.
Harmeet’s loss to Ronna McDaniel was very disappointing.

  7. Jordan — “Harmeet Dhillon posted on X that she didn’t want the job.”
    Thanks for that information.
Sad, but who can blame her?!
She’s full up (moved on, has own busy career).
But also: it sounds like the RNC is in a big mess, & November is not waiting.

  8. Eeyore, polls, should we wish to believe them, show our Lt. Governor, Mark Robinson, solidly behind the Dem nominee, Stein, in the gubernatorial election.

  9. Makes no difference who the RNC chair person is.

The real problem are the dumbpublicans in Congress.
Several of them voted with the demonkrats (what else is new??) and voted against impeaching the DHS head, Mayorkas.

Mayorkas has repeatedly lied before congressional committees and he is violating US immigration law, which should be – but apparently is not – a crime.
Apparently for the few republicans who voted against impeachment, that is not enough to warrant impeachment.

True, Mayorkas is just following orders (you know, the Nuremberg defense) and the dumbpublicans should really make every effort to impeach Biden.

This obviously would not succeed but it would focus attention on his US border violations of the law as well as the kickbacks (bribes) he has received from his son’s activities.
Or perhaps congressional republicans could go to the SCOTUS to have them adjudicate the legality of Biden’s border policy. I don’t know if this is an option, but if it is, it should be attempted.

Instead, until the failed attempt to impeach Mayorkas, the dumbpublicans have not done one thing to thwart Biden’s illegal border policy.

And many wonder why Trump has so many supporters.
Yea, he is a big mouthed braggart – along with other “unattractive” personality traits – but what other option is there??

As for those conservatives and/or republicans that are never Trumpers, the only other choice for president will be a demonkrat.

    Take your pick.

  10. This[https://redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2024/01/31/ongoing-spending-issues-show-that-the-rnc-didnt-learn-a-single-lesson-over-the-past-year-n2166897] is why the pressure on RM has increased to the point that she may finally get the boot.

The table in there is absolutely damning. The RNC spends over $70,000 on flowers, the DNC spends less than $800. The DNC spends over million-six on GOTV texts, the RNC springs for $86k. It’s obvious that the committee has been a slush fund for her and her crew and winning elections is an afterthought, if that.

  11. Kate: “… show our Lt. Governor, Mark Robinson, solidly behind the Dem nominee, Stein, in the gubernatorial election.”
I have seen Mr. Robinson speak via several videos and have been very impressed. Why, in your view, is he not doing better vs. Stein?
[I can’t vote in NC but I know several people from near the Charlotte area.]
