Newspeak again: according to Ireland’s PM, 9-year-old Hamas hostage Emily Hand merely wandered off without her GPS — 23 Comments

  1. ” . . . what Israel should do instead . . . ”

Perhaps baking cookies and cakes to be handed out to celebrating Arabs on the occasion of the next massacre of Jews, Taoiseach?

  2. What is it with the Irish and Israel? They do seem to take a rather hard and unforgiving line on her right to exist. One would think there would be some sympathy given the Irish history of being treated poorly, and getting the shaft from the British. Maybe as devout Catholics they are more inclined to vilify Jews as Christ killers, but they should be thankful that Israel has done a better job of maintaining access to the holy sites of all faiths than Jordan did when they were in control.

  3. Gothamite:

Apparently they identify their history with that of the Palestinians rather than Israel. Propaganda works.

  4. “He’s being incredibly careful with words…trying desperately to avoid saying the truth about Hamas, Palestinians, and Israel.”

To intentionally ‘avoid the truth’ is to align oneself with “the father of lies”. It is to knowingly embrace evil, while rationalizing that the embrace of evil is justified, which requires not just turning a blind eye to the truth but active rejection of the truth.

  5. As in other European countries, Ireland’s political class is closely aligned with Brussels, dislikes and distrusts the Irish working class, and is aggressively replacing them with immigrants on public assistance who hate the West perhaps even more than they do. Similar to Biden’s operation here, the government of Ireland is funding the destruction of Ireland as we know it.

More better in this Tucker Carlson interview with Steve Bannon.

  6. HOW completely VILE, this “President” is.

I know this is understood here.

I’m listening to Bannon on Tucker…no mention of Gert Wilders in The Netherlands, yet. “Tough but fair people must sort this out,” like Orban has in Hungary.

Banned Lizzard is spot on, among other messages from Tucker interview.

  7. He lies. He knows he lies. He knows everybody knows he lies. He counts the people who approve his lies and those who don’t.
If his count is correct, shame on the Irish people.

  8. When this started on 10/7 and the Israelis responded with force my Wife said something about innocent Palis. I told her none were innocent. The Hamas idea about no Israeli civilians should be applied to Gaza.

  9. @ Shirehome > “my Wife said something about innocent Palis. I told her none were innocent.”

    This former-Muslim Gaza-born converted-Jew agrees with you.
His story is heart-rending and inspirational at the same time.
He ran away from his Palestinian family at 13, worked in Israel but was arrested and deported, was beaten by his family and others, eventually got back to Israel and studied for conversion, helped by a couple of generous families.
What an example of perseverance and determination!

“In Gaza, there are no citizens who oppose Hamas. If necessary, they will murder Jews, Christians, and even Muslims,” Dor Shachar, 46, said in an interview with Maariv. Born in Khan Yunis, in the Gaza Strip, as Ayman Abu Suboh, who escaped to Israel, converted, and now lives in Rishon LeZion.

According to Shachar, “In Gaza, they are affiliated with organizations like Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fatah, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine [PFLP], and others. All these organizations support the killing of Jews. Some of these organizations have infiltrated the Gaza Strip. This is a religious war; they want to take over the entire world.”

“My father worked in Israel for 27 years, and even with all that time in Israel, at home, he advocated for the murder of Jews. Even in the schoolbooks, it was written that we should behave this way because Jews took the land from the Palestinians….”

Despite his father’s threats, Shachar did not align with his father’s demands. “It’s like the story of our forefather Abraham. In hindsight, it’s like [the biblical instruction of God to Abraham] ‘Lech Lecha’ – ‘Go forth from your native land and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.’ I feel like a messenger of the Jewish people. My mission is to warn Jews of dangers. We are all messengers in this world.”

When Shachar was 12, his father took him to work with him in construction. When he was 13, he ran away from home and didn’t return to the Gaza Strip until the age of 19 and a half.

About Nissim [who he met while working in Israel], he said, “He is an angel. For me, he is my father. People like him cannot be found. That’s why I said we are all messengers, and as far as I’m concerned, God sent me an angel. Later, he and his wife taught me to read and write Hebrew; they taught me to love.”

Afterward, Nissim invited him to celebrate the Passover Seder with him and his family, and then Shachar decided to become Jewish. “I told him I wanted to be Jewish. He said, ‘Wait, what did you say?’ and I repeated the words. He was surprised by what came out of my mouth. He told me that whoever is Jewish remains Jewish, whoever is Muslim remains Muslim, and whoever is Christian remains Christian, but I didn’t accept that.

It took another 8 or 9 years before he was accepted for conversion.

Asked about the Hebrew name he chose to adopt, “Dor [meaning generation in Hebrew] represents peace and goodness, and Shachar means morning.”

Shachar, who has also written a book about his life, “From Khan Yunis to Mount Sinai,” and lectures about it, was not surprised by the level of cruelty that Hamas militants reached on October 7. “When I was a child and went to the market with my mother, I saw that they beheaded those who claimed to have collaborated with Israelis. They cut off their heads and hands, and hung them on electricity poles, dragging them on the road while they were attached to cars. I was not surprised at all,” he said, adding that there aren’t many peace-loving people in Gaza. “Most of them no longer live there but emigrated to other countries.”

Shachar shared that he remembers that his grandfather used to tell him when he was a child that when he grew up, “I would have to kill Jews and reclaim Jaffa because it is our inheritance. It’s a matter of generations being raised like this.”

Regarding his biological family, Shachar explained that “if something happened to them, it wouldn’t bother me. My family is here in Israel. They taught me to love instead of hate, taught me to enjoy life and not die, and [not] to become a suicide bomber.” Of the Palestinians, Shachar said “They used to throw stones [at Israelis] during my childhood, then came the Oslo Accords because Israel wanted peace with the Palestinians. The weapons they [the Palestinians] received were turned against Israelis. We disengaged from the Gaza Strip and in return have been suffering from missiles ever since.”

Asked if he is optimistic about the future of Israeli-Palestinian relations, Shachar immediately answered “No. As a child, I saw a lot of violence, and difficult scenes that are hard to describe. If this is how they treated their people, you can understand exactly how they did and will treat Jews.”

  10. Thanks AF, for the fascinating link.
Very much reminds one of the “Son of Hamas”, although Dor Shachar’s story may be even more extraordinary…
BTW, an additional (and perhaps more common) meaning of “shachar” is “dawn” (though the connection to “morning” is clear, of course).

  11. For the record, I’m at least a quarter Irish, and my sister has the red hair to prove it.

  12. I post this story because we all know that if an attacker’s ethnicity / race is NOT mentioned, then it is a problem for the leftist narrative.
It’s very similar to this press rule (not yet in the AP Guidelines, but rigorously observed anyway): If an alleged miscreant is a Republican be sure and mention that affiliation; if a Democrat, say nothing.
Most of you have noticed, I’m sure, that the rule extends even to elected officials.

I’m still thinking about the subject, which may have some factional validity, but I don’t want to paint all women with the same brush.
    Some of us are sane.

  14. I should have included the headline, as the URL does not:
“The Devouring Mother: Let’s talk about this Irish senator and her pals, who want to “save” Ireland by imprisoning their neighbors for hAtE sPeeCh”

  15. Can’t Israel just dump their embassy in Dublin, kick out the Irish ambassador in notJerusalem, and appoint a protecting power? Germany as protecting power would be a nice slap in the face.

  16. The language issue always concerns me, because an ancestor of mine was taken in a brutal attack that killed his mother, one of his sisters, and his brother’s fiance.

He was held long enough to have 6 kids with a Native woman, who were released – with that woman and his children – when a negotiated treaty ended those Indian wars.

I keep hearing how children in those circumstances are “adopted” by the tribes.

It’s not adoption, it’s forceable taking – kidnapping hostages – and, BTW, the treatment wasn’t all that charitable. Many of them were held in virtual slavery conditions, and many of the female hostages were raped.
