More sympathy for Gaza from TIME
[NOTE: On Monday I wrote this post about TIME magazine’s very sympathetic coverage of Gaza. This is about the same topic, using a different article as an example.]
I want to highlight another article from TIME. This one is called, “The Harrowing Work Facing Gaza Doctors in Wartime.”
No doubt it is harrowing. But why are they facing that harrowing work, and that war? Might it be because Gazans committed what is probably the worst terrorist attack in history – certainly in modern history – against families, children, babies, old people, and young adults dancing at a peace concert? But in their constant effort to balance the two sides in this war, TIME and plenty of others highlight Gazan suffering, and do so without talking about the reasons for it.
And TIME is still acting as the propaganda organ for Hamas, just as virtually the entire MSM did when the fake “Israelis bomb the hospital” report came out. This is how it works:
So far, Israeli attacks have killed more than 6,400 people and injured more than 17,000 people in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health run out of the West Bank. More than half are women and children. The Palestinian Ministry of Health also reports 73 medical personnel have been killed, more than 100 have been wounded, and 25 ambulances are out of service.
This is Hamas speaking, and it is their recurrent m.o., because they know that outlets such as TIME will publish such “statistics” uncritically and usually without mentioning that the source is Hamas, the terrorists themselves.
That paragraph that I quoted – and its Hamas-generated death toll of 6,400 Gazans – is immediately followed by the only reference to the terrorist attack on Israel that I could find in the entire article:
The airstrikes follow Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel that killed more than 1,400 people.
The TIME article is about 1250 word long, but that sentence is it for mention of why this is even happening. It contains no mention of atrocities, nor does it say who these victims were. So the TIME numbers game tells the reader that the Gazans are suffering so much worse, so “disproportionately.” This sort of coverage is purposeful pro-Hamas propaganda, and it’s been going on for a long long time.
I am so tired of this game. How about we call the bluff, and embrace the horror produced by Hamas, and insist that everybody rub their faces in it. Everybody. Even the “Palestinian doctors.”
I bet that, if each side had to send its medical personnel to treat the victims of the atrocities committed by its own fighters, we would soon see an end to this utter poisonous bullshit.
Owen, do not put too much trust in doctors. The malignant posts by several leftist doctors, like this one, does not inspire confidence. I used to teach medical students. Fortunately, I retired before this nonsense began.
Of course there cannot be any mention of the fact that Hamas uses said “ambulances” for the transport of munitions, weapons systems, and fighting men: hence they are perfectly legitimate targets for Israeli fire.
At one time, long ago, almost in the oldtimey days, it did journalism not antisemitic propaganda.
It can’t go bankrupt, financially, soon enough. It is already morally bankrupt.

I am not bloodthirsty but I really do not have any sympathy for the Palis. They cheer when ever the Jews are attack, and they cheer when we are attacked. They are the Enemy.
And I do not believe any thing coming from them in the way of casualty numbers.
Read the Hamas has said that 50 hostages have been killed by Israeli Air Strikes. I believe they just killed them. You want my sympathy, well I have none to give. They want me dead, I will return the favor.
All the insane reactions of the past couple of weeks from the media/academic complex happen only because those institutions are so overwhelmingly of one world view. How could the academic who felt exaltation at the Hamas invasion feel that exaltation if he had to work on a personal level with significant numbers of members of the group being slaughtered? I’m old enough to remember the segregationists of the 60’s and how awful they sounded and how unaware they were of how they sounded. The left reminds me of them.
I quit Time magazine after they faked up the Haditha massacre.

@ miguel > “newsweek offers a little more wheat with the chaff”
The author’s observations were absolutely correct, that the poisoning of Muslim children’s minds has to stop. He didn’t give much direction on how that is to be accomplished, but at least he recognizes the problem.
Score one for the “moderate” Muslims.
However, there was plenty of chaff in the comments.
Meanwhile,
“400 Body Parts”
A radio interview this morning with the director of Israel’s Institute of Forensic Medicine describes the current situation.
There are 400 parts of bodies left unidentified. There are no longer whole bodies left. Just a collection of body parts.
…Bodies of couples and of parents and children who were tied together with rope and then burned alive.
Entire families that were burned alive and burned beyond all recognition, to the point that extracting DNA is physically impossible.
At a time when people are demanding humanitarianism for Gaza, Israelis see humanity and Gaza as two words that do not belong in the same book, let alone in the same breath.
Gosh, I’m old enough to remember when we counted on Time and Newsweek to give us robust perspective on the world’s events.
