Update on one of the Trump 18: Harrison Floyd
[NOTE: Here’s my previous post on Floyd.]
Harrison Floyd, the only one of the Georgia Trump case defendants who has been jailed, has been released after five days:
The last of President Donald J. Trump’s 18 co-defendants to be released post-arraignment stepped outside the Fulton County Jail Wednesday morning and told “Bannon’s War Room” host Stephen K. Bannon why he thought he was held for five days.
“The state of Georgia, and I’m a black man. I don’t know if I can say much more,” said Harrison Floyd, the executive director of Black Voices of Trump.
Bannon asked Floyd about his charges.
“To keep it frank and simple, Fulton County fumbled the coverup, and I am aware of what transpired, and they’re trying to put pressure on me and others to make sure that the truth doesn’t come out,” he said.
“The truth always has a way of finding its way to the surface, sir, so it’s going to be; I’m looking forward to being down here and fighting the devil in Georgia,” he said.
Bannon helped raise the money to buy Floyd’s freedom and get him some decent lawyers. For those who had wondered why Trump didn’t give him the money, I read somewhere that the supposed co-conspirators are not allowed to communicate. I don’t know for sure whether that’s true, but if it is it explains the Bannon connection.
More from Floyd:
Floyd said [Fulton County DA] Willis, the daughter of a Black Panther, targeted him because he dared to step into the limelight as a black Republican and Trump supporter.
“Part of the Black culture is always voting Democrat. I went against the code, if you will, at the highest order,” Floyd said.
“The district attorney decided she wanted to send me what we call a Negro wake-up call,” he said.
“She dialed the wrong number, because it didn’t go through.”
[NOTE II: I suspect that the statement about the “devil in Georgia” is a reference to the Charlie Daniels song.]
“The truth always has a way of finding its way to the surface, sir, so it’s going to be; I’m looking forward to being down here and fighting the devil in Georgia,”
That’s a reference to an old song. Floyd is not only a strong voice, he’s got an ear for history. More power to him!
Insufficiently Sensitive:
I already had linked to that song at the end of the post, if anyone’s interested in hearing it.
I saw the Floyd interview with Bannon. Fani Willis is a disgrace. Unfortunately she has the support of Governor Brian Kemp, Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger and the rest of the Republican establishment in Georgia. They looked the other way at the obvious fraud in the 2020 election and now they are willing to ignore the Constitution as long as they can destroy their enemy Trump.
I like this chap. He’s got grit. I think the DA may regret she pulled his chain. Harrison Floyd, a man for the times. I admire you, sir.
Harrison is quite an improvement over George.
If the alleged co-conspirators communicated with each other wouldn’t that be some sort of conspiratorial conduct?
FWIW: For anyone interested in making their feelings clear about the Georgia events, we have this opportunity. MAKITA power tools for the USA are only made in Georgia. You can choose DeWalt if you need a new tool. I know there are not a lot of people out there on a daily basis buying power tools. But, if you tell everyone you know and particularly the folks in construction it might start to make an impression.

I would think it would be good for Trump to help out Harrison Floyd. Good for Trump and good for Floyd. But it was suggested to me that the media, the prosecution, and the judge might think of that as an attempt to influence Harrison’s testimony. I don’t know the law, but it does seem like prosecutors can use all kinds of carrots and sticks to get the testimony they want out of witnesses.
Trump has been “truthing” about his chances to win Florida’s primary without expressing concern about the hurricane in those truths. Maybe he did so elsewhere, but it’s not good “optics.” We know that Joe Biden, who got all those votes because of his capacity to show empathy, is strangely indifferent to people’s sufferings, but some voters will still think of him as more caring than Trump, and the media will seize on anything that appears to support that assessment.
Gregory Harper:
By saying the 2020 election in Georgia was perfectly fine, they are mostly defending themselves, since they were actually in charge of it in the final analysis.
Abraxas – “I would think it would be good for Trump to help out Harrison Floyd. Good for Trump and good for Floyd.”
Insty’s got a link up today claiming that Trump’s PAC is down over $100 million. Speculation at Insty’s site is that it’s due to Trump’s legal bills.
