I used to read Joel Hirst’s blog whenever Gerard linked to it. I agree with Gerard’s opinion. Joel Hirst is an outstanding essayist. I had no idea that Gerard had advised him about publishing issues.
One great writer’s tribute to another great writer. And well deserved.
Joel has been in my favorites list for years. Glad to see this.
I was just thinking about Gerard today, after listening again to Oliver Anthony’s Rich Men North of Richmond.
It made me think of Gerard’s tribute to America, where he talks about how beautiful we were. It’s my favorite of all the things he wrote.
