Weiss: the whistleblowers made him do it
It’s even worse than previously thought:
David Weiss, the US Attorney who has led the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden, reportedly did not plan to charge the president’s son until IRS whistleblowers came forward about his alleged tax fraud, according to a report.
Weiss was willing to conclude the investigation without even as much as a plea deal before the agents accused the Justice Department of interfering, according to private correspondence between Weiss and Biden’s legal team obtained by the New York Times.
After the whistleblowers spoke out, Weiss suddenly demanded Mr. Biden plead guilty to committing tax offenses
“It appears that if it weren’t for the courageous actions of these whistle-blowers, who had nothing to gain and everything to lose, Hunter Biden would never have been charged at all,” a team of lawyers for one of the I.R.S. agents told the newspaper in a statement.
Sadly enough, this is unsurprising.
And recently the intrepid crime-fighter Weiss was appointed special counsel in the Hunter Biden case.
Another story about Weiss that broke recently:
U.S. attorney David Weiss, who offered Hunter Biden a sweetheart plea deal and is now serving as a special counsel in the Biden investigation, worked for years with Biden’s late brother Beau, the Washington Post reported on Sunday. That’s just another of several connections between Weiss and the Biden family, which led a spokesman for House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) to say that Weiss “can’t be trusted.”
Perhaps the strangest thing about these two stories is that they were reported by the NY Times and the WaPo, respectively. What gives? Is this part of the preparation to dump Joe Biden in 2024? Or do they believe Weiss is now too motivated to go after Hunter to prove he’s on the up and up, and they want him dumped and replaced by someone new who will also give Hunter a sweet deal or even drop the charges? I doubt very much that the two newspapers are now committed to following truth wherever it may lead, so there must be another agenda here.
In the rare instances that the NYT and WaPo commit acts of authentic journalism that reflect badly on a powerful Democrat it certainly raises questions. To me it seems like the various creatures that make up the Democrat-Media Complex are not of one mind when it comes to “What to do about Joe”. Some no doubt feel that he’s become too much of a liability, and it’s time to put him out to pasture (along with Kamala probably too), hence we get this story. While others still feel that they have to stick with Biden almost no matter what since the alternatives are far less certain or appealing to them, and therefore they need to continue to make Trump the story since they believe that Biden can beat Trump but perhaps not someone else.
I suspect that Weiss will be dumped and be replaced with a (pro Biden) Republican to pretend things are on the up and up.
Which will be good enough for 81 million low information voters.
There’s a special place in hell for human weasels like David Weiss.
Weiss has already been described as “Trump appointed” with no mention of the two Democrat Senators who requested that appointment.
However, it was not Weiss who called that Georgia DA and told her to get that Trump indictment out there before the Hunter Biden story got “legs.” She snapped to attention and got the indictment (after a felonious false start) out by 11PM that same day.
yes weiss was deeply compromised, meanwhile squirrel

I doubt that as well.
However, I offer the possibility that WaPo and NYT possess some vestigial sense of their mission as journalists and their concern for credibility which can still be triggered when the elephant in the room is bleeding obvious to over half the country.
Neo:
Your last paragraph is a good analysis of this perplexing situation. Along with being perplexed, I find myself angered too. The statute of limitations is running on all the charges, and anything Weiss does other than indicting right away is just a delaying tactic. I don’t think there’s a snowball’s chance in hell that Hunter will ever be indicted. I sure hope the Republican candidate can make a good electoral case out of it.
News is that Dopey Joe has terminated all sanctions against Iran. He is bound and determined to ruin America. Good luck, people.
Democrats are stupid, ignorant or evil, in varying degrees.

I think this may represent the hostility of the Democrat Party to Israel. The blacks have a tradition of antiSemitism. The Democrats seem to have adopted the Palestinians as honorary black people. There also seems to be a growth of self hate among secular Jews. Certainly they are largely anti-Israel. I don’t understand it but I am not Jewish. I was kind of neutral about Israel until Entebbe.
My daughter’s husband is Jewish and has hiked to the top of Masada.
Combine this article with the one about the Maui fire and you have a pretty good approximation of the phenomenon described by Sam Francis as “anarchotyranny.” Use the overwhelming force of government to crush those who can’t resist while allowing the real miscreants and lawbreakers to escape because of their favored status.
I am not a lawyer.
AG Garland has appointed a special prosecutor in violation of the law regarding appointment of special prosecutors. The law as written says that special prosecutors must be hired from outside the government. Weiss is already a US Attorney. He is not eligible.
Can not the defense claim a jurisdiction violation? Is not the prosecutor’s jurisdiction null and void?
Does the written law mean what it says?
