Those government agents in the crowd on January 6th
Tucker Carlson has said that, when he interviewed Steven Sund, who was the chief of the Capitol Police on that January 6th, Sund stated that on January 6th the crowd “was filled with federal agents.”
We’ve pretty much known that for quite some time, haven’t we? But the questions I have about it are: what does “filled with” mean? And how involved were the agents in inciting the crowd?
We already know, from information that came out during the Proud Boys trial, that there was quite a bit of involvement with and encouragement of that particular group. But is that just the tip of a large iceberg? And if so, how large?
There is no question that the answers to these questions are known by the government. There is also little question in my mind that we will never learn the answers. And yet those answers are incredibly important.
I also believe that, were we to somehow discover that the entire thing was heavily orchestrated by the FBI and/or other government agencies, and that most of the incitement that day was at their hands, then the vast majority of Democrats would deny it or justify it in some way. That’s how cynical I’ve become about things like this.
“And yet those answers is incredibly important.”
“Answers” “is”? Or is there a word missing between “yet” and “those”? Yeah, I know, I should take off my copy editor’s hat for the time being and replace it with a baseball cap.
PA Cat:
I initially listed only one question, and so it was “answer,” singular. I added a question and changed it to “answers”, plural, but I was in a big hurry and failed to change the verb to make it match.
So sue me. 🙂
I’m not at my computer now. Will fix it later.
Neo– I make similar mistakes all the time; it’s simply that one is more likely to notice typos etc. when it’s part of one’s daily work. I’m just glad you can’t critique my épaulement— or lack thereof. (About the latter: FWIW, my French dictionary says that épaulement can also refer to an escarpment or retaining wall for protection from gunfire– quite a long way from ballet).

neo concludes, “I also believe that . . . the vast majority of Democrats would deny it or justify it in some way. That’s how cynical I’ve become about things like this.”
You ‘n’ me both, neo, you ‘n’ me both. And anyone with functioning mind and open eyes should be equally as cynical. We’ve learned from long-standing experience.
An old Irish (??) / Scottish (??) expression . . .
“Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”

A free people determined to keep their independence would treat any act of incitement or enticement of their fellow citizens by law enforcement as government overreach.
Unfortunately many of our fellow citizens do not hold personal and individual liberty as paramount ideals. They are more motivated by a desire to have no opposition.
My best friend, my Other Brother, is of a firm mind that it was a violent insurrection, the Trump is guilty of incitement, and the one Cop that died the next day was killed by one of the “insurrectionist” throwing a whatever at him. I do not think he would change his mind either. Otherwise he is middle of the road conservative.
Oh, he also believe in Global Climate Change.
Nothing I can do, so we don’t discuss these issues.
Might he is retired Professor of Vet Med, his wife still works as a Prof of VM and is Very Liberal (what can I say- she is from the UK). She got US citizenship just to vote against Trump.
“She got US citizenship just to vote against Trump.”
Amazing! Wonderful! I wish Biden were not our President, but I give her credit for having the focus to see her convictions through. Better than many native born American citizens.
Rufus T. You’re spot on with your observation that personal and individual liberty isn’t valued by many people living in the US. That’s why I have given up on any notion that we can salvage the Republic. There is no will to do so today. When you’re in a burning building, you take what you can and flee. Maybe you can rebuild some day.
Rufus, I should have added that it was for the First Election, so she voted for Hillary.
With what we know about Hillary, even only the stuff not filtered out by the Clinton loving press, how could any thinking person ever consider Hillary Clinton a person to be elected to any position, anywhere?
J6 incitement was part of the election steal cover-up. It was a intended to disrupt official Congressional declaration of the fraud that occurred and to produce more legal and political accusations against Trump / MAGA. J6 was just one more of the long line of plots waged to neuter Trump and to elevate the Uniparty government.
The sad thing is that Trump was neutered. Despite all of Trump’s rhetoric to “drain the swamp” Trump got steamrolled again and again by the Uniparty. Turns out Trump is / was the perfect foil for the Uniparty. The Uniparty has gotten away with everything it did and Trump has become their scapegoat.
Excellent post. Excellent summary.
One important aspect of the “INSURRECTION”, though, is missing (though it’s evident and has been described often in previous posts on the topic):
that in order for Pelosi and “Biden” to have total control of their plan to incite the crowds and sow chaos, confusion and violence they had to ensure that NO security backup—other than those they could control—were allowed to be in the vicinity.
No National Guard, as Trump requested; no additional police reinforcements…since any additional security would have prevented Pelosi’s and “Biden” ‘s plot from getting off the ground—or at least would have would have gone a long way to preventing the chaos that was the KEY to Pelosi’s and “Biden” ‘s conspiracy.
(It’s also why the Capitol Police, or at least many of them, were caught off guard; many of them were simply not informed…and when they DID ask for instructions they were stonewalled.)
IOW Trump was sucker punched; though the usual suspects would say, “Oh, but fool that he is, he set himself up to be sucker punched—since we all know that one shouldn’t allow Americans to exercise their right to protest….”
OTOH, even Alex Jones understand that this was a setup and tried to warn against it.
Oops… “…understand…” should be “…understood…”…
Should amend the following, from—
“…that in order for Pelosi and “Biden” to have total control of their plan to incite the crowds and sow chaos, confusion and violence…”
to:
“…that in order for Pelosi and “Biden” to have total control of their plan to CHANNEL THE CROWDS TOWARDS AND INTO THE CAPITOL BUILDING, incite the crowds and sow chaos, confusion and violence…”
Barry,
You nailed it. The J6 insurrection narrative required the optics of the Capitol being besieged. Federal operatives were inserted in the crowd to incite and encourage swarming of the building. But they had to have access to the building, which meant the plan required eliminating any security that would prevent the swarm.
What is most telling about J6 is the fact the actual people entering the Capitol building were almost all civil people. There were a few delusional clowns who made for good optics but were harmless. To my understanding there were no “insurrectionists” occupying the building and chambers of Congress as you would expect serious political agitators to do.
The insurrection dog never barked.
neo:
It never happened and it’s a damned good deal that it happened.
Can be done in one sentence and will be.
J6 incitement was part of the election steal cover-up. It was a intended to disrupt official Congressional declaration of the fraud that occurred
It was timed to the moment as there were GOP reps ready to propose inquiries into the election. Pelosi walked out before they could speak. Too bad none of them had the guts to bring that up after.
A number of people have said it, but I think I last heard it from Douglas Murray.
“They [the Dems] have a supply and demand problem.”
If they constantly harp about, and leverage, the notion of white supremacists, racists, and insurrections everywhere; then where is it all? The supply must be manufactured.
Many years ago, Ann Coulter wrote a book with one or more chapters on racism. She itemized numerous examples of “racism” that were big media stories for a time. All turned out to be self-inflicted Smollett-style stories.
The new wrinkle is that these J6 prosecutions/persecutions are extremely vicious stuff. I think we have arrived at the time where legislation is needed to enact severe criminal penalties for proven malicious prosecutors and judges. Mandatory minimum prison sentences.
Michael Malice’s “You’re Welcome” podcast #264 with Joseph McBride is well worth a lesson regarding this topic. McBride is an attorney who has defended and is defending January 6th detainees. McBride is doing great work and the details of the government’s over-reach are almost certainly worse than you have heard.

From the Daily Mail via Citizens Free Press:
“Howell said the Foundation is looking for evidence to back up claims by whistleblowers that Weiss was denied the ability to prosecute the First Son’s crimes in other districts including Central California and Washington DC.”
This is a little game I am getting tired of. The whistleblowers did NOT claim Weiss was thwarted!
The whistleblowers claimed that Weiss SAID he was thwarted! This kind of sloppy wording is music to the ears of Democrat spinmeisters! They would love to point this out as an “error”, citing the AG’s denial, when in fact there are multiple witnesses to Weisse’s CLAIM.
Barry Meislin:
…in order for Pelosi and “Biden” to have total control of their plan to incite the crowds and sow chaos, confusion and violence they had to ensure that NO security backup—other than those they could control—were allowed to be in the vicinity.
There were also those two fake pipe bombs near the party HQ offices, spotted and reported nearly simultaneously, just a few minutes before the main event began. This distracted several Capitol police.
Somewhere not long ago read a government agent said there was well over 100 undercover personnel.
You would be hard pressed to make me believe the well known agent provocateur were not.
Thanks for the link, Rufus T.
If McBride is right, and I believe he is, we are in an authoritarian state and sinking deeper with each passing day. Even fair-minded Democrats would have to object to these kinds of abuses of the law.
Somehow, we have to find a way to get this kind of information to moderates and LIVs. I send such links on to my correspondents, but it’s preaching to the choir.
McBride is certainly a candidate for sainthood. More power to him.
Agree on McBride. The Left used to produce attorneys like him often.
SHIREHOME, you just described my situation. My best friend, who has been there though every bad situation in my life, is RABIDLY anti-Trump and believes what he sees on TV. After J6 I asked him if moving a National Guard division into Washington was insanely overkill. His reply was no it’s just enough.
“That’s how cynical I’ve become.”
That’s not cynicism. That’s looking at the accumulated evidence over time and drawing a conclusion.
Shirehome- my guess though a ” conservative ” nevertheless a product of Cultural Marxist Seminary, everyone around him is a hard core Marxist
Let us never forget an unarmed woman, an Air Force veteran, Ashli Babbitt, not threatening anyone, got shot to death J6 with one bullet by a black Capitol Cop who went scot-free after committing murder. He shot no one else, despite the crowds.
