  1. Yesterday’s incident only reinforces my doubts Slo Joe will actually be the Democrat nominee. As I previously said, I think plenty of Democrat heavy hitters are actively working out a Plan B behind the scenes. What they certainly don’t want is a bitter and protracted contest for the nomination if and when Brandon bows out. So, they’ll continue the farce of his reelection campaign going as long as possible to deter any serious alternative (RFK, Jr. can cause some trouble, but he’s really no serious threat). Meantime, they’re actively working to crown a shadow frontrunner (and figure out what do about Harris). Once that person (likely Newsom, but not for certain) is agreed upon, Biden will quickly be shuffled aside, this person will announce, quickly be endorsed by most major Democrat players and fundraisers and viola!

I also think all of the FBI whistle-blower stuff and the Biden family influence peddling is getting at least some MSM attention because it’s useful as blackmail material just in case Brandon and Dr. Jill aren’t so willing to be sent off to pasture.

  2. it strikes me that sullivan’s birminghams police commissioners behavior was so agregious, why did they have to lie about him, but this was the path to practically no ethical responsibility in journalism,

  3. I think plenty of Democrat heavy hitters are actively working out a Plan B behind the scenes.

    Ackler:

    Agreed. That’s my analysis too.

  4. Thing is, they’ve been working on Plan B for over two years and haven’t come up with one, at least not that I can detect. They will get rid of Biden in a nanosecond once they do. But so far they haven’t.

  5. They don’t need to get rid of Biden nor do they want to. He is the perfect vessel for the left to do as much crazy ass stuff as they can possibly get away with and not have an actual functioning person who might care about his reelection or his legacy.

The whole thing is just reprehensible to me. I struggle to even say ‘Biden did this’ or ‘Biden did that’ because while I guess it’s technically true in reality he has virtually no role in any of this at this point.

    Embarrassing to the country.

  6. one is reminded of that stones song, ‘you can’t always get what you want’ et tu maher, this is the democracy you wanted, at the price of a recession,

we on the other hand, were fairly cognizant of what would happen, although the supply chains and the collapse of the domestic transport was something I didn’t quite expect,

the regime wanted this, its a clunky phrase in english, sadly it’s all too familiar in spanish or russian or german,

  7. Thanks to the link to Dave Begley’s assessments of DeSantis (and Ramaswamy) in Iowa. The RNC has just announced debate qualification requirements, one of which is the number of individual donors to the campaign. I have given to DeSantis and will do so to Ramaswamy. Both could be interesting, even if Trump continues to insist it’s beneath him to go to any debates.

  8. Thing is, they’ve been working on Plan B for over two years and haven’t come up with one, at least not that I can detect.

It’s a hard problem. Democrats have been looking for love in all the wrong places.

If Biden could be propped up for another 18 months, fine. But, he’s only one public faceplant away from becoming an irrecoverable embarrassment and all the election fraud in the non-communist world won’t rescue him.

  9. I would not be entirely surprised if ” something ” happened to Joe, that would solve the Democrats problem. A tumble down the stairs, perhaps, forcing him to retire, resolving the problem, and, with help from the Media, making him into a martyr to the Progressive Cause.

They would have to ease Harris out, and Newsome in, but with the help of News one’s Aunt Nancy, I am sure that could be arranged

  10. The Democrats don’t need a Plan B. With mail-in-voting they could nominate a dog turd and win.

  11. Biden is an excellent empty vessel for the Democrats hard left wing. Also vote fraud may be enough to repeat 2020. The problem is that Biden might take one fall too many and croak. Then they have the problem of Harris. She is obviously incompetent and difficult, as witnessed by her staff woes. Will she toe the same line that Biden has ? Can she appear credible? Newsom wants in but he is a weak vessel.

  12. I think that RFK, JR would be a big problem for the Dems if he gets their nomination. The CIA, FBI, DOJ, etc are corrupt. The Dems depend on it. In the elections last year, when Republicans started watching (and photographing) ballot boxes in AZ, for ballot stuffing (essential to their win there), the DOJ dispatched attorneys to shut it down, and did. Bobby believes that the CIA killed his uncle (and maybe his father), and the FBI covered it up. As Dr K has said, the doctors who saw JFK after the fatal shot were apparently convinced that the fatal shot was from the front, and not the back, of his head, that would have been the case if the shot had come from the Depository, as claimed. I think it highly likely that he would put a top priority on getting to the bottom of it, and I don’t think that either agency wants that. I don’t see either agency being happy with that, and they have show a willingness to cross the line to effect a presidential election. Can the Dems afford that, esp since the last two elections, they have won only through massive election fraud covered up and facilitated by these agencies?

I can see the attraction of Newsom. He is pretty. But he is monumentally corrupt. He did extremely badly with COVID-19. And is pushed hard to the left by the rabidly leftist CA legislature. How well is Reparations going to play with most of the populace, and esp Hispanics?

  13. Re DeSantis, wow! Sounds like Trump 2.0, without the drama.

    Nice blog, Cornhead!

  14. “Where do failed and rejected leftist public officials go? Why, to mold young minds at the university, that’s where.”

    It’s worse than that…

They go to mold the young minds that mold even younger minds… They wind up teaching in the teachers colleges.

  15. RFK, Jr. will not be allowed to be the Democrat nominee, just as Bernie Sanders was not. I expect that so long as Biden is alive and within range of his Republican opponent, aka: the margin of fraud in the critical swing states, that he will be the Democrat nominee. If he drops too low after securing the party nomination look for him to suffer a disabling condition, perhaps death, and withdraw.

Yeah, I know this sound like a conspiracy theory but that is only because it hasn’t played out yet. Just like all those Covid conspiracy theories that turned out to be true.

  16. yes rfk is nutz about many things, like oil companies, but he has fusion appeal, some of his fathers crusading genes still endure, thats a non starter, we have to follow this alt verse truman show, and pretend it’s normality,

  17. No way the Dems can replace black female VP Harris with white guy Newsome as the next president. It must really burn the Dems that the GOP has people like Vivek, Tim Scott, and Nikki Haley as viable capable candidates.
My theory: Kamala sees herself as deserving of the presidency, and she does not like the Bidens very much. She called Biden a racist during their last primary (she was correct, of course), and I suspect she would cheerfully shove a shiv into Dr. Jill given a chance. Growing up as an affirmative action baby, she lacks the insight to recognize just how bad she is at getting things done and how incompetent she is.
Kamala has the Dems by the nutz. She has made it clear that if she is not the candidate, she will go public with all of the sleaze that she has witnessed and learned about during her years in DC. She has a network of Deep Staters feeding her dirt and will not go quietly.
I almost feel sorry for the Dems.

  18. Here’s an illustration of just how hostile to the U.S., to our traditional values, to patriotism, and to ordinary citizens the people—supposedly public servants, dedicated to the Constitution, to the Law, and to our Republic–who have control over Capitol Hill these days are.

According to the article linked to below, a children’s choir from South Carolina wants to sing patriotic songs in the Statuary Hall of the Capitol building, and gets permission to do so from three Congressional offices, one of them the Office of the Speaker.

They start to sing the National Anthem and a Capitol Hill policewomen tells staffers to “shut them down,” saying that it’s forbidden to sing in the Capitol because such singing is a “demonstration.”

The choir director explains that they have permission, but he says that they were still not allowed to complete their singing.

Says the article linked below, when contacted about this incident, the Capitol Hill police spouted a pack of lies about what happened, and their officer’s actions.

    See https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/06/02/exclusive-childrens-choir-director-responds-capitol-police-claim-they-did-not-stop-kids-singing-national-anthem/

  19. P.S.–Just to be clear, it is the choir director in the article above who alleges that the Capitol Police’s account of this incident is full of lies, and that the incident never happened in the way that the Capitol Police say it did.

  20. Joe will end up having “health problems” and Newsome will get the nod from the deep state. Michelle Obama will be his running mate. If RFK makes it difficult for Newsome he’ll be eliminated, that’s what happens to Kennedys that don’t color within the lines.

On the Republican side I don’t understand Trump’s large lead over Desantis. While Trump got quite a few things right he also dropped the ball numerous times. The best thing he did is show us that we can fight back against destructive progressive policies and those that support them. He has provided an example that conservatives have used to great advantage.

The second best thing Trump did is change the supreme court. But he failed to address the border and and ended up weak on crime. And Trump couldn’t distinguish between allies and the double agents he populated his administration with.

Right now I prefer Desantis and will give Vivek closer scrutiny. But as always, in the general election, I’ll end up voting for the lessor of two evils.

  21. RE: The children’s choir singing in the Capital incident above.

The U.S. Capitol Police have not exactly covered themselves with glory these last couple of years, now have they?–See also January 6th.

  22. Snow-
Capitol cops report only to the House majority leader. For complaints, direct them to McCarthy.

  23. Cicero—Yes, but given Pelosi’s long tenure as Speaker, and the influence she no doubt had on them, are Capital Police carrying out new Speaker McCarthy’s attitude and agenda, or that of Pelosi?

  24. “ Capitol cops report only to the House majority leader. For complaints, direct them to McCarthy.”

He invited them back. That’s a start. But heads have to roll.

  25. In commenting about the U.S.turning into a low trust society, in an earlier post on gun purchases and ownership as an indicator of the U. S. turning into a “low trust” society I wrote that–from what I recalled reading–sales of firearms in the U.S. were running about at “a million per month,” which on reflection seemed awfully high, so I looked for some statistics on the matter, and the actual number of firearms sold in the U.S. in 2022 was 16.4 million, with 45% of U.S. households now owning at least one firearm. *

  26. Capitol cops report only to the House majority leader.
    ==
Notionally, to a three person board. One of seats is vacant. One is Schumer’s nominee, one McCarthy’s.

  27. Cicero—Yes, but given Pelosi’s long tenure as Speaker,
    ==
Eight years, broken up into two stints. In between was eight years of Boehner and Ryan.

  28. Joe will end up having “health problems” and Newsome will get the nod from the deep state. Michelle Obama will be his running mate.

Why do you fancy that? There is no indication that MO has ever been career oriented. She’s interested in decorative arts, not public office.

  29. In re the Children’s Choir (white Christians, BTW), Gateway Pundit posted some updates.

In the first one, watch the video, and note which verse the kids are singing when they are ordered to stop.
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/06/update-choir-director-tells-gateway-pundit-after-us/

However, the Capitol Police claim that they did not stop the kids from singing the National Anthem, which is a lie. You can clearly see in the video they stopped the innocent kids from singing the National Anthem.

“Recently somebody posted a video of a children’s choir singing the Star-Spangled Banner in the U.S. Capitol Building and wrongfully claimed we stopped the performance because it ‘might offend someone,’” the Capitol Police told The Daily Signal in an email statement. The police said, “Here is the truth. Demonstrations and musical performances are not allowed in the U.S. Capitol.”

The police said when confronted, “Of course, because the singers in this situation were children, our officers were reasonable and allowed the children to finish their beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner,” the statement added. “The Congressional staff member who was accompanying the group knew the rules, yet lied to the officers multiple times about having permission from various offices. The staffer put both the choir and our officers, who were simply doing their jobs, in an awkward and embarrassing position.”

The claim that musical performances are not allowed in the US Capitol is not true. Choirs have been singing inside the US Capitol, here are some instances.

    Video posted 2 months ago:

The videos of those allegedly forbidden musical performances are not choirs, but they are certainly musical, and not demonstrations.

    I have some questions —
If musical performances are forbidden, why not stop them at the beginning?
Why let them set up in what is obviously a choral formation if they didn’t have permission?
Do the Police really believe that the staffer would claim they had gotten the claimed permissions if they had not?
If they had permission, and the CP knew that, why do they believe they can get away with lying about it?

And in the statement above, the CP claim the children were allowed to finish the song (it was a lovely arrangement); maybe the CP don’t know what the final phrase is.

“The home of the brave, and the land of the free.”

    Just not for YOU.

    The second is encouraging.
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/06/just-kevin-mccarthy-invites-childrens-choir-after-they/

Now, McCarthy took to social media to express his dismay. He posted, “Just learned kids were interrupted while singing our National Anthem at the Capitol. Unacceptable.”

McCarthy further highlighted that his office welcomed the children’s choir, emphasizing that the U.S. Capitol is back open particularly to school groups, stating, “These children were welcomed by my office because your Capitol is back open, particularly for school groups.”

He tagged Representative Timmons, Representative Joe Wilson, and Representative Russell Fry, expressing his anticipation for the children’s choir to return and perform in the halls of Congress.

More from The Daily Signal, which was not in the post this morning:
    https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/06/02/exclusive-childrens-choir-director-responds-capitol-police-claim-they-did-not-stop-kids-singing-national-anthem/

In a statement emailed to The Daily Signal on Friday night, McCarthy, Timmons, and Wilson, joined by Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C., wrote:

We recently learned that schoolchildren from South Carolina were interrupted while singing our National Anthem at the Capitol. These children were welcomed by the Speaker’s Office to joyfully express their love of this nation while visiting the Capitol, and we are all very disappointed to learn their celebration was cut short. We are delighted that the People’s House has been reopened particularly for our children and we look forward to welcoming more Americans back to the halls of Congress.

The statement from McCarthy and the other three GOP lawmakers didn’t address Capitol Police’s role in the incident last week.

However, an aide to Timmons also told The Daily Signal that South Carolina’s congressional delegation has offered to cover all expenses for the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir to return to the Capitol to sing the national anthem “wherever they please.”

This report has been updated to include the statement from McCarthy and three South Carolina lawmakers.

I hope the kids go back, and I hope the public supports them.
However, then the CP will probably call the audience “a demonstration” — would they dare shut them down again?

Any sympathy I had for the CP after they were mauled by the Democrats and the FBI on J6 has just about evaporated.

  30. This commenter makes a good point: all these people were standing around, talking, while the kids were singing.
    https://redstate.com/brutalbrittany/2023/06/03/mccarthy-backs-childrens-choir-silenced-at-the-capitol-police-apology-cites-miscommunication-n755869#comment-6200205514

Everyone should have been standing at attention, hats or hands over their hearts, until the anthem was complete. For the Capitol Police or a Congressional staffer to not understand this basic rule of etiquette is a disgrace.

  31. Cicero on June 3, 2023 at 1:03 pm said:
“Snow- Capitol cops report only to the House majority leader.”

But consider a thought experiment. As a police force with enforcement authority, just why is that? Article I Section 5 says “… Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, …” but does not mention other executive or law enforcement functions to be performed by the Congress or either House. So within its chambers, while in session, the leadership has controlling authority. And separately the Congress can pass legislation establishing the agency we call the Capital Police and define how and what it is to do. But if the core rule creating or legislation enforcement is reserved for the Article II Executive branch, shouldn’t and wouldn’t these Police report to and be controlled by an Executive branch office. At least on the Capital grounds and/or at the various protective locations they now appear to be assigned. Perhaps also within the capital bldg proper, aside from the two main chambers??And, if the VP is present, isn’t he/she surrounded by Secret Service agents for protection, etc.?? (i.e., Treasury Dept. personnel? Or is it DHS now?).

So this point of view could lead to a court challenge that the current controlling arrangement is actually in violation of the Constitution??? [Trump would have done that if he had thought of it!! 🙂 ] What is flawed about this idea? Why will it seem so absurd??

    https://journals.lww.com/health-physics/Fulltext/2022/02000/World_Atmospheric_CO2,_Its_14C_Specific_Activity,.2.aspx
This is a paper using carbon 14 measurements that suggest the fraction of whatever increases in CO2 that have occurred since 1750 have at most about a 12% contribution from burning fossil fuels. They of course suggest this is too small to be the major driver of AGW, and thus most of any increase in CO2 concentrations are due to other natural causes.

Not sure how valid all of that is, but perhaps another nail in the Climate Change coffin?
