I was thinking about DEI and all the new, administrative positions and classes and certifications…
When our culture functioned under an understanding of Western ethics (summarized brilliantly 2,000 years ago by a Jewish carpenter) there was no need for this stuff. Sure, people abused others, were unfair to others, mistreated others… But everyone understood that behavior was wrong.
DEI is a necessary result of moral relativism. If nothing is “wrong” then each individual has to be taught what is acceptable in each of the communities they interact with; work, school, community groups…
And it’s interesting (and kind of fun and funny) to watch the hoops DEI instructors and administrators leap through to avoid Western morality. New, amazing words and terms, acronyms, rules and regulations. As they work to rebuild in their own image what they worked to tear down.
Oh well. I suppose it’s job security.
Regarding the Bee Gees,
It’s a similar aspect of The Beatles; they had innate talent but they also worked diligently together for years. Two of the hardest working groups in pop music. A group grows to know each other, and what each is likely to do in a live performance, more and more with experience and time.
And, as The Beatles demonstrated, it is very hard to maintain that pace for more than a few years.

That’s agreeable. The reasoning if I’m making sense of it was that the statutory language did not include disconnected wetlands in the definition of ‘waters of the United States’, Question, unless the wetland in question actually straddled a state boundary or was the property of the U.S. government, why would statutory language be able to define it as part of ‘the waters of the United States’?

Outside my wheelhouse, but in re the couple the EPA was harassing, isn’t it imprudent to build on a wetland?
The govt definition of a wetland and normal ideas of a wetland have almost nothing in common.
For four or five decades, the feds have been abusing this law. Typically, farmers (some of whose families had worked the same fields for over a century) were ordered to stop farming some of their land because it was deemed a wetland (a swamp). In one case, they had wisely let part of their land lay fallow for a year as part of a normal rotation. During that year, some puddles during the rainy season had a certain plant grow therein. The feds said the plant was conclusive evidence it was a wetland and decreed that the land was forever restricted from farming.
The Feds’ argument for jurisdiction was that the puddles were part of the navigable waterways of the USA.
Note, the wetland argument (stupid as it is) isn’t nearly as convoluted and insane as the polar bear argument used to justify all fed regulation of carbon dioxide emissions.
I truly think that the inmates have taken over the asylum, and the some sort of “crazy gas”–that traditional society and it’s rules had kept contained–has been released.
Just stumbled over this guy’s channel on Youtube, as commentator joeybtoonz, points out all of the crazy things that are going on in our culture and on social media, and it’s truly both disgusting and frightening.
See, for example this at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paM8ed0sReo –this set of clips was funny, but the other things he highlights on his channel are far more strange, and crazy, as he documents our society’s descent into stupidity, idiocy, decadence, and madness.
Just a friendly tip, don’t try to pet and “make friends” with a wild warthog.
Tina Turner, RIP.
I wasn’t her biggest fan, but she was a Power. (She taught Mick how to dance!)
So this is part of the “Growing Old Isn’t for Sissies.”
Oh well. I suppose it’s job security.
Rufus T. Firefly:
Exactly.
I’m convinced that half of the imperative for DEI is so untalented Dem folks can pull down good salaries and their children too.

Ah, I can’t resist mentioning Jules Verne’s Une fantaisie du docteur Ox or A Fantasy of Doctor Ox, in which a scientist provides a Belgian town with free street lights powered by water separated into hydrogen and oxygen.
The scientist’s secret agenda is to observe the effects of extra oxygen on plants, animals and humans.
Naturally, everyone goes crazy.
My hippie uncle gave me a lovely illustrated hardback edition for Christmas 1965. He had taken LSD by then and I now suspect the gift could be called hippie grooming.
Not that I care. I was pretty much aimed to become a hippie in any event. I wish I still had that book.
The George Floyd autopsy report has been released.

– Evidence of Injury listing: Page 7 of 20
– Neck description: Page 9 of 20
– Special procedures: Page 11 of 20
– Toxicology report included.
The report was signed off on June 1st 2020, as the country burned.
I do believe that all sorts of odd people and their aberrant behaviors were kept under control by the expectations of traditional society as to what is normal and acceptable behavior, which limited their expression.
Now that the norms of traditional society–buckling under constant attack–are fading away, and “inclusion” is now the name of the game, these oddities are what we increasingly are presented with and, not only that, but we are pressed to accept them as the “new normal.”
P.S. More and more people, seeing these examples of what was formerly seen as aberrant behavior and, moreover, its popularization on social media, have decided that it’s now safe to “fly their freak flag.”

Taibbi wrote about the sadism of the Covidiots.
Here is a video in the linked tweet about how many sadists there were. https://twitter.com/ClayTravis/status/1661386847530909698?s=20
This is really, really ugly stuff. Evil walks among us. These people are walking examples of the worst of hubris. They should be shamed.
