  1. Getting ready for the big chill. Drained the shallow well house water tank that we use for the animals and garden. Wrapping pipes.

  2. And just when you thought the German Government couldn’t get any, um…colder…we present the “Germans ‘Deserve to [Freeze]’ ” File**:
‘ German Officials Blame Gas Shortage on Consumers, warn “People Will Feel the Cost of The Energy Crisis Hard” ‘—

Disclaimer: I might, um, be behaving a bit harshly here…oh, WTH!!

  3. Baby, its Cold Outside!
When I got my coffee the computer weather station had the temp at -18, now an hour later it has warmed up to -13!
My MiniSplits stop working at 5 degrees, so I have the baseboard heaters on. Downstair it was 60 degrees when we got up, it will gradually warm up. Going to be a big electric bill, but not so much NG. We have a dual fuel range, 2 gas fireplaces that I don’t turn on much. But with NG prices almost tripling per CF those with gas furnace’s will also have big bills.
    Oh, wind chill is -26.

  4. From Instapundit:
SHOT: 59% of students fear disagreeing with professor: national survey.

So I read that as “only 41% of students agree with their professors.”

    That seems like good news.

  5. Brrr. 14.9 this morning up to 17 now. Estuary is iced over. Forecasted high today 26 tomorrow a high of 40!

  6. I came across this paper recently which you and your readers may appreciate. The topic is the repeating cycle, through the 3000 years of human history where records exist, of the rise and fall of empires, all following a similar pattern and timeframe. It presents a strong argument supporting the immutability of human nature despite protestations of “this time is different”.
The main value of its view is to offer the reader a perspective whereby the extreme turmoil of our current world is put into the context of its place in the long continuum of human history. It was written in the mid-1970’s but the intervening time and history only reinforces the thesis.
It left me wondering if the cycle is repeating with the excesses of the left about to be usurped by the rise of the right, or if the left/right divide is a symptom of decadence and our imminent replacement by an outside player, as history suggests… http://people.uncw.edu/kozloffm/glubb.pdf

  7. Mesmerizing piece of music & dance there Boss…phenomenal.
Thanks. My daughter’s going to love it when I pass that on.

Oh…just a note…going to be around 31C today. Southern hemisphere and all. Y’all stay safe.

  8. Nonapod,

That’s a very interesting link. Thank you for sharing.

Whether there was intentional fraud in Arizona, or not, and whether it was enough to alter the Governor’s race, this is an excellent example of how to use Alinsky tactics until voting gets straightened out. “Make them live by their own rules.” Couple that with lawfare and almost any election can be cast in doubt.

There are a lot of moving parts to an election; many mechanical, many human. In a statewide election some of those variables will fail, or not function optimally. Call them out when detected, quickly, decisively and use the courts.

  9. John Guilfoyle:

    Glad you liked it!

I don’t tend to like most contemporary choreography, but I was very impressed by that one.

  10. Do liberals ever learn?

Enviro wackos are doubling down on the massive energy idiocy that is wrecking Europe. They haven’t learned a thing.

Covid crazies are doubling down on their lies and foolishness.

Anyone heard of a wokester apologizing for supporting the BLM fraud?

In any sane world, every morally decent person regardless of party would be deeply concerned about the FBI behavior of the last seven years. Well, perhaps that is true if we want to accept that there are nearly zero morally decent Democrats. And the intense anger at Elon Musk is indicative of a deep moral sewer.

It’s as if there is some kind of perverse pride in affirming and insisting on embracing stupid policies and rampant lies.

  11. stan:

“that there are nearly zero morally decent Democrats.”

You really need to get out and get to know some actual people.

  12. Jon baker, SHIREHOME, Chases Eagles, and other Neo readers caught in the Midwestern bomb cyclone (or whatever it’s called now): I’ll add on to RTF’s good wishes for your warmth and safety. Here in coastal CT, it’s raining at the moment, with a predicted high of 43F (going up to 55F [13C, for you metric system snobs] tomorrow). No snow in the forecast– BUT torrential rain, including a thunderstorm in the wee hours of Friday morning, with a high risk of coastal flooding. Oh, and high winds that might snap power lines, plus temperatures dropping to 13F by Friday night, which means rain-covered roads icing over. So it might be warmer here for the time being, but nobody is going to just walk away from this storm.

I’ll also add to John Guilfoyle’s praise for the “Still Waters” video– I watched it twice because I found it so appealing. Neo certainly has an eye for good dance videos!

  13. I forgot the six inches of snow over ice that fell Monday night. About half blew away yesterday in high winds. Waiting for the thaw because sliding off our road means going into the creek. Ditto “Still Waters”.

  14. You could definitely tell when the front passed thru here in East Texas, just south of Interstate 20. Wind and the temps started dropping . Was in the 40 s this morning, now down to 20 degrees. Had snow flurries, but not sticking, the ground is still too warm. Supposed to get to about 10 degrees, which is a bit lower than we normally get all winter. The goats were walking around with ice cycles in their beards after eating off the wet ground. I think they were after the fresh leaves that the wind blew down.

  15. The preview was very interesting. Like Rufus, I was caught by the stutter-step movements. Is that typical of any particular school of choreographic thought?
