I tend to think of people claiming the left is trying to destroy western civilization as hyperbole, but everything this administration is doing is making me rethink that thought.
I’ve reached “I’ll believe it when I see it” territory on this. Although the Biden crew are capable of doing something awful like this.
I bet they sneak it through after the midterms. I think even the Biden people can parse that giving money to Iran is not a bragging point in their favor for the election.
However, I am tantalized by Zeihan’s suspicion that the Biden administration is moving towards formal recognition of Taiwan as a big foreign policy coup. It’s my elaboration that Biden et al. might do so before the midterms as an October Surprise.
God knows Democrats need some sort of accomplishments beyond the “87,000 IRS Agents Employment Act” and “Let the Working-Class Pay for Student Debt” executive order.
The only fly in the ointment is that recognizing Taiwan would deeply alienate the Red Chinese and likely interfere with the Chinese graft pipeline to Democrats.
Perhaps the Dem High Command buys Zeihan’s analysis that China is nearer collapse than most realize, thus Chinese graft will dry up in any event.
