My wife went to Pensacola for a family bridal shower, so my daughters are there also. I’m home alone with the dogs. So not much excitement for me, other than trying to keep the dogs calm with fireworks going off.
Free music events. Friday night was a Santana tribute band. Quite good, and big enthusiastic crowds turned out for these. The lead guitar was very good, thankfully, and the drummer/percussionist was outstanding. Keyboards so so.
A week ago was a Beatles tribute band. I was not that keen to go, but was glad that I did. The crowd really got into it especially with the closer, Hey Jude. The most entertaining part for me was the very fit and tall 65-70 year old woman who started Go-Go dancing to Back In The USSR. The astonishing thing was that it was the best Go-Go dancing I’d ever seen. She must have taught it, or maybe it’s a Jazzercise or Zumba thing.
The town throws a 4th festival that’s decent, so I’ll be there.
Our town cancelled the fireworks because of reasons.
Drought, I think, out in Colorado, which is understandable.
We’ve had far too many bad fires in the last 12 months.
I’ll be going to the parade in Chelmsford! https://www.chelmsfordparade.com/
It’s very patriotic, someone from the high school sings the national anthem, and there are lots of veterans groups for which everyone stands and claps, and of course the Minutemen groups from the various towns around here. Not to mention marching bands, floats, etc. I’m so glad it’s back.
Mowed my lawn today. Will get a water feature that we put up in our backyard running tomorrow. Monday it’s hot dogs and macaroni salad to eat. Yep, Mr. excitement. But each day I will give fervent thanks that I was fortunate enough to be born in the USA.
It’s well worth celebrating our independence. People aren’t crashing across our border by the millions because this is a terrible place. Whenever someone says this is a terrible country, ask them why they haven’t left for some place more to their liking.
Have a wonderful, safe, and patriotic weekend.
Our small Florida town on a peninsula between a river and the Indian River Lagoon hosts a bike parade and games for local kids in the morning and they need a few more volunteers… so I think I’ll volunteer. At night my husband and I will walk to the top of one of the bridges where we can watch fireworks bursting near and far, for many miles. We can hear the crackles and booms from the closest show, a couple of miles west, but the farther ones are silent flowers blooming in lights and color then winking out. It’s quite lovely. Happy Fourth!
I’ll be putting the Flag up in early morning and taking it down at sunset. Perhaps read my copy of the Constitution. Hang out with friends and family. Plus BBQ & a beer or two. Fireworks.
Sarah Rolph,
It’s gratifying that some in Massachusetts have remained loyal.
We’ve had a very wet spring, so I am not sure why there is a city-wide fireworks ban, other than here in eastern Washington we have a surplus of Karen and Ken scolds. Maybe Gov. Jay Creepy Inslee will host an “America Last” rally.
Ps. The city even sent out a snitch phone number for reporting use of fireworks! That’s what happens when you let a bunch of creeps from California in.
Some family is coming in from the Mainland for a visit and we will BBQ.
I’ve been scouting around for fireworks to share with my almost five year old great nephew – who by all accounts is a real terror.
I can’t wait!
Happy 4th to you all.
Our family is meeting in Newport Beach. We will attend the parade and fireworks in Huntington Beach. We flew our oldest grand in from Carmel for the week so all 5 grands together ages 9 months to 12 years. Joy in the midst of prayers for our country.
I will be at a BBQ put on by my sister. Almost the entire extended family will be there including my 91 yo mother and her 88 yo sister. Unfortunately, the forecast is for temps in the high 90’s with moderate to high humidity.
Looking forward to hearing about everyone’s holidays.
We will spend some time with the closest of the kids and his family, but pretty low key this year.
